For many years, the construction industry in Sweden has not developed much of an integral approach for design across disciplines. The sector?s impact on society, economics and environment is huge. To make the interactions within the construction industry more efficient, a relatively new concept called BIM (Building Information Modeling) has been introduced. The idea with BIM is that the different actors of the construction industry will work through intelligent CAD software, with common file formats and more cooperation between different actors during the various steps of the building and construction process.The technical consultancy company WSP Sweden is working actively to implement BIM within the frame of its activities.

I detta arbete framlägger vi ett designförslag på hur ett diskussionsverktyg som stödjer ljud- och bildkommunikation kan se ut. Ett förslag som förbättrar och förenklar den distanskommunikation som idag sker med hjälp av mobiltelefoner, videokonferenssystem samt webbkameror anslutna till persondatorer. Den design vi föreslår möjliggör för mobila användare att visuellt föra flerpartssamtal med hjälp av PDA:er. Vårt designförslag har fått arbetsnamnet CU2 (see you too) och är tänkt att fungera i tredje och/eller fjärde generationens mobila nät. Vi har valt att genomföra vårt magisterarbete på företaget A Brand New World i Kista, Stockholm.

Uppsatsen behandlar ämnet användbarhet i mobila webblösningar med inriktning mot tidningsbranschen. En jämförelse mellan de två aktuella designfilosofier, dedikerad design och responsiv design, för den mobila webben har utförts genom att fokusera på användbarhet, där centrala begrepp studerats. Begreppen är som följer: Usefulness, Efficiency, Effectivness, Learnability, Satisfaction. Mixade metoder i form av enkätstudier, heuristiska tester, användartester, intervjuer och prestandatester har utförts för att samla in empiriskt material för analys och för att sedan ge en slutsats angående vilken av de två designfilosofierna som tenderar att ge hög användbarhet i system som exempelvis tidningssajter i mobilen.De mest intressanta resultaten var att, sett ur användbarhetssynpunkt, var båda designfilosofier likvärdiga, majoriteten svarade att de testade sajterna fungerade på liknande sätt. Alla uppgifter kunde utföras utan större problem på båda sajterna vilket uppfyller kravet för effectivness.

Kreativitet och Kaffesäckar är en litteratur- och fallstudie som behandlar kreativitet och hur den kan stimuleras i skolan. Samhället ställer krav på kunskap där kreativitet är en viktig faktor och skolan behöver följa utvecklingen för att möta framtidens behov. Fallstudien har gjorts bland 7:e klassare på textilslöjden. Undersökningens fokus är att se hur egen design, annorlunda material, utställning av den egna produkten påverkar kreativiteten. Projektet pågick under en termin och avslutades med utställning och modevisning på Lilla Kafferosteriet i Malmö.

The sites I visit turned into routines a long time ago. Everywhere someone has decided what should be there and what will not fit. I retreat into my daydreams, away from everyday life. A longing for something different, something wonderful. I decided to go where I've never been, searching for something unknown.

The purpose of this essay is to present a thesis work that has been executed during a period of 10 weeks, as part of a bachelor degree in Graphic Design and Communication and also to present what has led to the design of a sales brochure for the freely distributed lifestyle magazine LKPG. The purpose of the thesis work was to examine the answers to the questions ?What does clients and local company owners want to achieve from their advertising in newspapers and magazines?? and ?How should a sales brochure for a freely distributed lifestyle magazine be designed to be at most advantage and out of most interest to its clients??. The work has been carried out through an competitors analysis, qualitative interviews, literature studies and a survey on the target group. The findings of the work are that the market of freely distributed  magazines, both nationally and locally, is extremely wide and has many similar competitors.

This is a dissertation for a Bachelor Degree Project at the University of Skövde. The project is carried out in cooperation with the company Kinnarps AB.The objective of this project was to develop a new chair for café and lunch rooms, which should satisfy the markets expectations and demands and match Kinnarps AB?s assortment today. The project has contained everything from identification of user and customer needs and requirements to evaluation and building of a prototype.The result is a chair with a frame of tubular steel and there is nothing like it in Kinnarps AB?s assortment today.

Webbaserat Tidrapporteringsystem.

The aim of this thesis was to investigate if the robotized welding method FSW (Friction Stir Welding) could be applied for joining a rotating structure in an aero engine at Volvo Aero Corporation. FSW is expected to introduce less defects than today?s welding methods and could therefore be suitable for critical aero components. The material is the nickel based alloy Inconel 718, however a material experimentation is outside the scope of this report.The main goal of this study is to verify if the ESAB ROSIO robot based FSW-system has a suitable work space to be able to weld the rotating structure, and if the welding tool has accessibility to the joints. The FSW-process needs a rigid fixture, and a number of fix-ture concepts are presented based on a proposed weld sequence.

Den här uppsatsen speglar ett examensarbete för Färggrossen i Nybro. Ett nytt måleriverktyg, närmare bestämt en lackpensel tas fram för yrkesmålare.Fokus för projektet har legat på användarstudier med hjälp av yrkesmålarna Thomas Molin och Mikael Brandén. Studierna har börjat med observationer utav arbetsprocess och hantering av verktyg, därefter uppföljande tester av skissmodeller.Två serier med skissmodeller tas fram för användarstudier och följs sedan upp med en förprototyp som detaljutvärderas. Resultatet blir ett verktyg med vinklat skaft som ska skapa en flexibel pensel för många olika grepp..

En kontinuerlig ökning av tillgängligheten till Internet har lett till att flera ärenden som tidigare utfördes utanför hemmet, såsom inköp av böcker, filmer och kläder, nu även sker online. Det finns idag även flera företag som erbjuder tjänster för att signera dokument elektroniskt. Jag har i detta examensarbete valt att studera arbetsflödet för just elektronisk signering.Studien är fokuserad på företaget Comfacts lösning där de använder SMS i identifieringsprocessen. De olika stegen användarna går igenom för att signera dokument är otydliga. Genom att studera arbetsflödet för Comfacts elektroniska signering hoppas jag bringa kunskap i hur man kan utforma flödet så användarna förstår processen och upplever signeringen som enkel och smidig.Förstudien bestod av en heuristisk utvärdering av tjänsten, en konkurrentanalys av liknande tjänster samt användbarhetstester.

Den pågående utvecklingen med informationssystem och den ökade tillgången till information via dessa system ökar kraven på den militära personalen att hantera denna stora mängd information.Information om aktörer i ett stridsområde samt den terräng aktörerna befinner sig i är en förutsättning för att genomföra militära operationer. Som följd av denna informationsmängd behöver informationssystemen utvecklas för att kunna ge bättre beslutsunderlag.Syftet med uppsatsen är att undersöka vilken militär nytta man skulle kunna uppnå med ett geografiskt informationssystem (GIS) för beslutsfattarna i en militär insats. Dessutom skall uppsatsen undersöka hur ett GIS bör vara utformat för att stödja personalen med beslutsfattande.Undersökningen sker genom både komparativ litteraturstudie och beskrivning av teorier och metoder.Resultatet pekar på att GIS bör kunna bidra till den militära nyttan med att möjliggöra ett informationsöverläge gentemot en motståndare. Vidare pekar resultaten på att rätt design på GIS underlättar för användaren men att det ändå krävs utbildning för att nyttja GIS fullt ut..

This essay explores how artwork in the public space can be analysed, conceptualized and described by bringing attention to site. Through an analysis of artworks in the yearly art exhibition of Fittja Open 2011, the essay draws attention to site-specific art and structures of power. The principal aim is to present not only the exhibition of Fittja Open 2011 but also other artwork in the public sphere in Fittja, a suburb to Stockholm. From this point of departure other interests evolve that concerns the "image" of Fittja. The analysis, based on research in art history, architecture, ethnology and philosophy as well as qualitative interviews, also focuses on understanding the role of site and the relations between art practice, institutions and site.The result shows that there are problems with a ruptured interface between the artwork and site.

Rapporten behandlar examensarbetet ?Ny design av befintlig takbox? som utförts vid Institutionen för arbetsvetenskap vid Luleå tekniska universitet. Examensarbetet har förmedlats av Uminova Center i Umeå. Uppdraget gavs till oss två studenter vid ingenjörsprogrammet Industriell design under våren 2003. Uppdragsgivare var Jaxal AB i Övertorneå, som bland annat tillverkar takboxar för det norska företaget Skiguard AS.

This thesis was developed as an assignment from Ludosity Interactive where the goal was to develop a copy of the Xbox Live Indie Games-marketplace from the Xbox 360. Ludosity Interactive had a necessity to easily test a game's attractiveness to potential customers using testing people from outside the company in a simulated Xbox Live Indie Games test environment; excluding this developed system there is no other way to do such an analysis without actually releasing the game on the Xbox Live Indie Games marketplace and then analyze the resulting sales from the product.The finished system had to be similar to the original system to the degree that a user could see past the interface itself and use the system just as he/she would have used the real marketplace. It also had to be easy to change and add games to the system so that Ludosity Interactive easily could show the games and the data that they deemed interesting for their tests.
