Diabetesmellitus typ 2 ökar kraftigt både i Sverige och i övriga världen. Detta kanrelateras till sämre matvanor och övervikt. Förvirringen kring vad människorska äta för att hålla sig friska och sunda har aldrig varit större. Det finnsskilda uppfattningar och media sänder olika budskap. Sjuksköterskan ska arbetaefter vetenskap och beprövad erfarenhet, och ska därmed kunna ge rättinformation till patienter avseende kost.

Bakgrund: Hypertoni är en medicinsk sjukdom som ökar risken att drabbas av andra allvarliga följdsjukdomar och behandlas i Sverige med farmakologiska läkemedel och råd om livsstilsförändringar. Syfte: att belysa olika livsstilsinterventioner som kan stödja människor med hypertoni att kontrollera sitt blodtryck. Metod: Designen som använts är en litteraturöversikt där vi sammanställt 14 kvantitativa publicerade forskningsrapporter med fokus på livsstilsförändringar. Som analysmetod användes ett induktivt förhållningssätt där huvudkategorierna "Specifika aktiveter" och "Multikomponentsinterventioner" föddes fram. Resultat: Livsstilsförändringar i form av ökad fysisk aktivitet, avslappning, diet och viktminskning kan ha blodtryckssänkande effekt hos personer med hypertoni.

During the 1960´s and 1970´s the number of grey seals in the Baltic Sea was decreasing rapidly, mostly due to hunting and toxic substances like DDT and PCB. When hunting became less intense and toxic substances decreased in the environment the grey seal population started to increase. Today grey seals are found common in the Baltic Sea and have started to become a big treat and a problem to the fishing industry. The grey seal destroys and enters fishing traps and consumes large quantities of the fish that have been caught.The knowledge of the grey seal, like abundance and food preferences, is today limited. It is also important to define the position of the grey seal in the ecosystem in the Baltic Sea and to be able to predict changes that could occur if the population would rapidly decrease or increase.

This study focuses on work related factors which have an effect on the balance between peoples work and private/social life. Commonly discussed in the daily debate is the so called ?livspusslet?, the time puzzle. The question is: How do you balance the demands from work, family and society? A lot of peoples health and family relations suffers from a stressful situation at work.It?s not hard to figure out that the possible factors which could have an effect on the balance between peoples work and private/social life are many.

Människor som drabbas av kronisk/långvarig njursvikt i Sverige kan erbjudas olika behandlingsmöjligheter. Behandlingen innefattar många olika delar såsom diet, vätskeföreskrifter, medicinering och dialysbehandlingar. Med egenvård avses de aktiviteter som krävs för att optimalt kunna leva med en sjukdom i vardagen och egenvårdsförmåga som kunskaper, kompetens och aktiviteter relaterade till hälsa. Syftet var att beskriva faktorer som har betydelse för egenvården hos patienter med kronisk/långvarig njursvikt från ett patientperspektiv. Studien är utförd som en litteraturstudie av sju kvalitativa artiklar.

The interest in small-scale electricity in Sweden has increased strongly in recent years. The interest is noticeable both among politicians to increase the share of renewables in the energy mix, and among electricity consumers to partially replace purchased electricity with self-produced. This has resulted in a significant increase of electricity production in low voltage grids in recent years, and the trend appears to continue in the coming years. The majority of the new production plants are solar cells, followed by wind turbines, and it is also in these the greatest efforts are made in this paper.Distributed generation is often seen as something positive since it will contribute to reduced transmission losses and reduced voltage drop in the networks, and that it increases the share of electricity from renewable sources. In cases where the grids are not strong enough, or in other ways not adapted to manage the installed production, power quality may be adversely affected.

Swedish law is very keen on the fact that every person should be treated equal when facing the legal system. When it comes to cases concerning children, social workers and judges are expected to strictly obey the rules of the law but at the same time make individual judgements based on the best interest of the child, something that requires a great deal of empathy and knowledge. Is it possible to live up to the maxim about equality and to simultaneously see the individual needs? With so many different parties and angles in the case, how does one manage to make a solid appraisal of the situation that truly serves the best interest of the child?The purpose of this study was to examine the capability within the social services with focus on objectivity. More specifically it's aim was to find out how the social workers and judges see their capability of being objective in the investigations concerning children.

The project was performed in collaboration with Husqvarna, one of the world?s leading manufacturer in the market of electric outdoor products. The report is a thesis work of a bachelor mechanical engineer program, in the field product development and design.The project is a study of the development opportunities within drive belt for a gear driven gearbox to one of Husqvarnas petrol powered hedge trimmers. A big part of the project was also to find combinations of materials for all components in the gearbox, to reduce weight and maintain or improve the performance of the system. Belt drive was of interest to investigate as an alternative solution to the current design that can reduce wear on the system at a performance test performed in the company before the product is released to market.

Laborationer utgör ett centralt innehåll inom den svenska biologiundervisningen. Elever måste lära sig arbeta laborativt för att uppnå kunskapsmålen. Att arbeta praktiskt medför flera fördelar för eleverna men det kan vara svårt att som lärare förmedla dessa på ett meningsfullt sätt. Syftet med denna undersökning är att undersöka hur biologilärare tänker och resonerar kring skolans laborativa arbete. Det är ett brett arbetsområde och målen i styrdokumenten kan uppfyllas med stor variation.

The purpose of this study was to examine the threats from climate change coverage in the media. The climate threats start to appear more frequently in the media and because of that it is important to examine what the media conveys to the viewers and readers since it may effect how people act when it comes to climate threats. In this study newspaper has been examined, more specifically daily press and evening press. The papers chosen was Aftonbladet and Expressen, which represented evening press, and Dagens Nyheter represented daily press.The method applied was both a quantitative and qualitative text analysis. With the quantitative method variables were formed and tested against the material.

En av de ledande dödsorsakerna i världen beror på övervikt och fetma, därför är det viktigt att barn utvecklar bra kostvanor under tidig ålder. Syftet med denna litteraturstudie var att undersöka sambandet mellan kostrelaterad övervikt/fetma och karies hos barn. Artiklarna söktes i den medicinska databasen PubMed. Åldersbegränsning gjordes på barn mellan 0-18 år på grund av att studien är fokuserad på barn. Resultatet baseras på 10 vetenskapliga artiklar.

In today?s society, people do not solely purchase a product for its promised use. Instead, a brand is purchased and along with that brand comes a variety of associations. The associations of a product?s brand are what contributes to the added value that, according to this study, is what distinguishes a brand?s power.

In this study the book talk is examined as a communicative act with a purpose to convince according to an under-lying intention to promote reading. I follow the book talk?s way from an idea of the book talker (and the library) to the reception of the audience, with the aim to understand how to talk about books in an engaging manner. More specifically, the rhetorical situation and the purpose of a book talk, the performance and the means to arouse and retain interest in the book talk as a speech and in the books themselves are examined and the impact of the book talk on the audience.The empirical material consists of observations of two different book talks (both directed to children) and interviews with the two different book talking librarians and a few of the children from the audiences to both book talks. The theoretical framework consists of rhetorical theories from both antique and modern times and I perform a rhetorical analysis of both book talks.

By examine plastic craniums from eight different hominids I wanted to find morfological characteristics that agreed with those of modern humans. The species that were selected had a plastic casting of its cranium in the laboratory at Gotland University. My focus was on species from the family Australopithecius and Homo and only working with their craniums. And this because the cranium and the theeth shows the most visible morfological characteristics between the different hominids. I also wanted,in a small part of the essay, to write about the differences in now living primates and humans skulls.Except from analysing the plastic castings I also studied surveys written by other scientist on the same subject.

Environmental chemicals are transported to the Arctic through the air and oceans, once within the Arctic they spread through rivers, lakes and other watercourses. Polar bears and sledge dogs in-gest high concentrations of environmental chemicals since many of the chemicals are fat-soluble and their diet mainly consists of marine mammals. The aim of this study is to describe how environmental chemicals spread in nature, how they reach the polar bears, and finally how they affect the animals reproduction, with reproductive hormones and genitals in focus. The animals are exposed to a cocktail effect which complicates the assessment of the chemicals impact on the reproduction. Studies show that the genitals can decrease in size or become malformed, sexual maturation can be affected and the reproductive hormones can be disturbed.
