This thesis is largely about museums and their role and development in and for society. With a field/case study of the District Six Museum in Cape Town, we try to encapsulate a modern function for museums within a context of 1) the current worldwide discussion on museums and their future, and 2) the development of a new democratic nation in South Africa, and museums possible role in that process. Through analysis of interviews made with concerned people within and outside the District Six museum weintend to get a picture of the views on this particular museum and its role and function, for its community and society at large, plus for other museums, as a possible role model. Resande har blivit en stor del av vårt samhälle och livsstilen för många unga människor idag. Min studie är ett försök att belysa vad som får oss att söka vår identitet i kulturer långt från våra egna, och hur dessa kulturer uttrycker sig själva. Hösten 2001 gick Sverige med i ett arrangemang som runt tio länder har med Australien, nämligen working/holiday-visumet. Detta och en rad andra aspekter har ökat resandet till denna del av världen. Denna magisteruppsats har fokus på hur aktörer i en kommun med ett vikande befolkningsunderlag ser på fenomenet. Informanterna som medverkar är politiker, tjänstemän samt representanter från näringslivet. En kommun ingår i studien, det är Finspångs kommun i Östergötland. Uppsatsen undersöker hur dessa ser på frågan om ett vikande befolkningsunderlag. Hur man resonerar kring fenomenet och hur samspelet och samverkan mellan aktörerna uppfattas.

Syftet med följande arbete är att få grundläggande kunskap om begreppet klassrumsklimat och ledarskapets betydelse för klassrumsklimatet. Jag vill ta reda på hur ett klassrumsklimat kan gestalta sig och undersöka hur elever kan beskriva sin klassrumssituation. För att söka svar på mina frågeställningar har jag använt mig av litteraturstudier, en klassrumsobservation och elevintervjuer i år 4. Resultatet av den utvalda klassen visar att klimatet i gruppen till stor del beror på det ledarskap som råder. The aims of the practical work carried out for this thesis were to redesign a clinical decision support system for thoracic surgeons, called AssistMe, and to evaluate the concept behind this system. The main objective of the thesis is to give an account of the considerations that were found to be of key importance for designing a clinical decision support system for thoracic surgery. Another aim was to let future users test the system after it had been redesigned and evaluate the concept behind it. The aim of the thesis is to find a deeper understanding and knowledge concerning the interpretation of racism as a phenomenon in the everyday life of children in the age of 12-13 years old. To achieve the aim of the thesis I have used parts of the phenomenographic theories as a methodological implement. The conclusions made are represented through four different themes. The first theme deals with the way children apply to verbal overtones of racism in their everyday language. The second theme is about how some children discuss thoughts on integration and assimilation as phenomenon.

Today environmental management systems (EMS) are common documents (more correctly, a combination of documents) that direct, steer and regulate environmental efforts within many companies. The intention of EMS is that its guidelines are reflected in how the employee carries out his everyday work tasks. This study aims to illuminate the attitudes that exist regarding the EMS at ALSTOM Power Sweden. By using questionnaires and interviews as a method to communicate with employees,a study of the existing attitudes regarding the EMS was carried out. The results were analyzed categorically and statistically and show that there are consistent attitudes among employees, but that there are also inconsistent attitudes.

A study of the generations problematic in museums of work and local folklore societies, principally run through volunteer work. Illustrative examples are Ödestugu local folklore society and Husqvarna Factory Museum in Småland (Sweden). The empirical study consists of interviews with active people and inquiry among societymembers and workers at the factory. Undersökningens syfte är att visa vad Föreningen Svensk Form/Svenska Slöjdföreningen i sin publicerade litteratur skrivit om vad svensk form är och vilket ursprung den har. Den undersökta perioden är 1950-tal till 1990-tal. Uppsatsen tar också upp vilka samtida debatter och samhällsangelägenheter man etablerat den svenska formen i och hur man använt dessa för att visa upp föreningen som aktiv samhällsmedborgare. Diskussionerna rör sig kring berättelsers etablerande, och maktpositioner i det offentliga samtalet.
