AbstractThere is a lot of confusion when it comes to defining Special Education. An example of this appears here by a statement from Assarson (2007) "Special Education initiates a special pedagogy, but contains no innate sense of what is the special component in it" (p. 52, authors? translation). This study is an attempt to clarify the elements of the concept.

At night, the visibility is reduced and the demands on the driver increase. A safety system that enables the driver to discover warmer objects in the surroundings when the visibility are reduced, such as the Vision Enhancement System (VES) contributes to safer night-time driving. Since the benefits of this system are established, it is of interest to investigate different design aspects. The VES display has in earlier studies been positioned in front of the driver but different display positions such as peripheral placement should be evaluated. The present simulator study is an investigation of the effects of different display positions inside the car.

This is a case study influenced by Grounded Theory and Symbolic Interactionism. Its focus is on a small group of pupils isolated both geographically and socially from the ordinary school. The composition is written from the children?s perspective. Observations and interviews have made it possible to study both the interaction between the children and also the adults, how the children are described by the adults working with them and what expectations they have on the children.In the light of earlier research, our case study can be seen as an example how the school is dealing with the children?s problems.

I gruppen möten mellan olika kulturer kommer vi bland annat lyfta fram möten som en invandrare ställs inför när han/hon integreras i det svenska samhället. Dessa möten innebär eventuella möjligheter eller begränsningar till integration. Vi kommer dessutom att diskutera hur en nyanländ människa påverkas av den nya kulturen samt hur individen bevarar sitt kulturella arv. Vi har studerat dessa möten i fyra fallstudier med inriktning på; en mångkulturell svensk gymnasieskola, kulturarv, sexuell läggning och slutligen bostadsförhållanden. I den mångkulturella skolan ligger tyngdpunkten på att studerahur olika etniska grupper samspelar och behandlar varandra.

Sedan miljöbalken infördes och den politiska målsättningen om ett ekologiskt hållbart samhälle lagstadgades har kravet om att sanera förorenade områden stärkts. Därigenom ökar också kravet på en tydlig lagstiftning där det går att ställa förorenaren till svars, i enlighet med den internationellt vedertagna principen om att förorenaren betalar. I studien beskrivs hur miljölagstiftningen i Sverige utvecklats när det gäller regleringen av ansvaret för efterbehandling av förorenad mark. Vidare undersöks om den gällande rätten medverkar till uppfyllandet av miljöbalkens mål om en hållbarutveckling. Som teoretisk grund används teorier om hållbar miljörätt.

ABSTRACT Bjelkenbrant, Pernilla, 2007: Musik och kommunikation ? en kursutvärdering (Music and communication ? a course evaluation) The purpose of this study is to do a quality assurance of the course ?Music and communication? (MUPR1205) as it was implemented in a class of music students at the program of Arts and Culture at Törnströmska upper secondary school in Karlskrona during 2006/2007. The overall question is to what extent the shaping of the course involves the attainment of the values and goals formulated in the national school documents. The study includes an interpretation of course goals related to overall goals, and a suggestion of how theories of the relationship music ? society can be applied to those goals to make a successful course structure.

This Master?s thesis is connected to an Interdisciplinary field between humanities and health care; ?humanistic medicine? or ?humanistic nursing?. The object of the investigation is nursing students? experiences of reading fiction and autobiographies as course literature. In semi-structured interviews a group of students talk about their reading.

AbstractThe research in the Interdisciplinary field of natural-human-health-design has in recent decades gainedmomentum and led to new or new-old ways of thinking and acting in terms of planning and design of outdoorenvironments with the aim of health promotion. Concrete concept models and design guides have begun toemerge as a result of this research.The purpose of this work is to use these guides to develop a design proposal for a supposed health garden,with Wij Trädgårdar in Ockelbo as a base. This has been done in the form of a process description. The targetgroup for the design proposal is long-term unemployed and people who have come to Sweden as refugees.Since the specific design recommendations could not be found for the selected target group, the main materialwas general guidelines for health gardens in combination with guidelines for health gardens directed to targetgroups with stress-related problems, which is a broad target group for which there are relatively much currentresearch.The result is a process description of the progression towards a sketch on a health garden, designed for aspecific spot on Wij Trädgårdar, but available for use in other locations, provided adjustments is made to thespecific location. The sketch is supplemented with plant suggestions to different parts of the garden.

Vattendirektivet som trädde i kraft år 2000, innebär ett helt nytt sätt att arbeta med vattenfrågorna i Sverige. Omfattande arbete pågår i Sverige för att ta fram underlag som de kommande vattenmyndigheterna kommer att behöva för att kunna arbeta enligt direktivets bestämmelser. En central del som måste utredas är hur lång den akvatiskt ekologiska återhämtningstiden är när restaureringar och efterbehandlingsåtgärder genomförts. Fem svenska efterbehandlingsprojekt med avseende på metallföroreningar har undersökts i en fallstudie. En översiktsstudie har genomförts på hur fterbehandlingssituationen för metallföroreningar ser ut i Sverige genom att personer vid samtliga av landets länsstyrelser har kontaktats.

The Swedish museum world is a complex and disputed field. Changes are high on the agenda, but they are neither easy nor self-evident. This master thesis looks at how Swedish museum professionals discuss changes and how they envision museum work for the future. It is also an analysis of the current state of the field. We have made a critical discourse analysis of three recent projects; Svåra saker, Museum 2000, makten.nu and the debate articles from the journal Svenska Museer from 2000 to 2001.

The aim of this study is to understand how the library environment affects the experiences and feelings of public library users. In order to concretise this, the study sets out from the public library in Bollebygd. We wanted to find out how the library users experience the library environment. Does the library environment affect the meeting between library users? How does the environment affect their moving patterns inside the library? Which environmental factors influence the users' experiences? Our questions were: how do users experience the library environment - as a mediating space for information and culture? - as a social room and meeting place? The material used to attain the purpose of the study consists of qualitative observations and interviews, and literature studies.

De specifika syftena med studien var att undersöka om (a)taluppfattningen förbättras om man i en liten display får se den som talar, jämfört med om ingen bild alls visas, och om (b)taluppfattningen förbättras då kontextuella ledtrådar presenteras i samband med ett talat meddelande. Studien syftade även till att ta reda på deltagarnas upplevelser och inställning till tekniken. Därför genomfördes (a) en datainsamling av objektiv data i form av ett talåtergivningstest, och (b) ett videosamtal via mobiltelefon samt en insamling av subjektiv data i form av intervju, med 10 deltagare med hörselnedsättning.Resultatet av studien visade att både visuell och kontextuell information ökade taluppfattningen för deltagarna i studien, vilket innebär att videosamtal har potential att fungera som ett hjälpmedel för denna användargrupp. Ur intervjun framkom bland annat att hälften av deltagarna ansåg att konversationen förenklades med videosamtal, och hälften att den försvårades. De deltagare som tyckte att konversationen försvårades uppgav som skäl att ljudet kom före bilden i samtalet vilket gjorde det svårt att läppavläsa samtalspartnern.

This study is a statistical content analysis, of masters? theses written in 2005 at the Swedish School of Library and Information Studies in Borås. The relations between their epistemological discourses, theories, methods, themes and chosen alignment within the education, the so-called ?kollegium?/college, are examined. The results are put in relation to the concepts multidisciplinarity and interdisciplinarity to see what kind of discipline Library and Information Science (LIS) can be described as, on the basis of this material.

This thesis intends to examine the role of the city, Dublin, in the Irish economic growth during the 1990s. It is a case study where Dublin is compared with current theories on post modern cities as growth machines and increasingly prominent actors in the global context. The study has an Interdisciplinary approach but focuses on political science issues such as power distribution, global-local governance and local political organisation. It is a theory driven study that also intends to add aspects to the understanding of the cities of our time. I argue that Dublin has faced a lot of changes during the last decades in accordance with the post modern city.
