During several years we have been able to follow the victories and disappointments of Ludmila Engqvist through the scrutinising eye of the media. This essay will deal with how media?s picture perception of Ludmila Engqvist has changed by analysing articles from the Swedish newspapers Aftonbladet and Expressen from 1996 to 2001. Why and how the media?s picture has changed will be analysed through the perspectives of Ludmila Engqvist being an elite athlete, immigrant and woman.

Vi måste ändra samhället vi lever i idag för detta samhälle är inte hållbart. En hållbar utveckling är därför viktig att sträva emot. Företag måste anpassa sig till en hållbar utveckling och de har lagar och krav som deska följa. För att de ska kunna uppnå en hållbar utveckling måste begreppet operationaliseras, tas ner till handlingsbara regler. Det är näst intill omöjligt att veta vad som ska göras för att uppnå en hållbar utveckling utan att bryta ner begreppet till delmål och lagar.

Den globala temperaturökningen vi märker av idag är, enligt bland andra FN: s klimatpanel IPCC, delvis orsakad av människans utsläpp av växthusgaser. För att hantera klimatproblematiken på ett effektivt sätt och minska utsläppen, måste alla delar i samhället involveras. Det senaste året har miljöproblem, och framför allt det om den förstärkta växthuseffekten, kommit att betraktas som samhällsbyggnadsproblem. För att få med de flesta delar av samhället i arbetet med att minska utsläppen av växthusgaser, har man i Norrköpings kommun valt att arbete med problematiken i ett bredare perspektiv. Uppsatsen syftar till att undersöka hur Norrköpings kommun planerar att arbeta och arbetar med att minska sina utsläpp av klimatpåverkande gaser.

Denna studie behandlar den offentliga upphandlingens roll i arbetet mot hållbar utveckling. Syftet är att analysera vilken syn på detta som kommer till uttryck i den statliga offentliga utredningen 2001:31 och regerings propositionen 2001/02:142 om offentlig upphandling. Teorierna miljöekonomi och ekologisk ekonomi har använts för att få en uppfattning om vilka olika tankar och perspektiv som finns kring miljö, ekonomi och hållbar utveckling. Detta har sedan utgjort utgångspunkten för den kvalitativa analysen som har gjorts av de båda dokumenten. Analysen har bland annat visat att ett miljöekonomiskt tankesätt dominerar i de båda dokumenten.

This is a paper about the process of creating meaning in speeches held by president Bush after the terrorist attacks on September 11th 2001. People need tools to orient and understand the surrounding world. They need to create a meaningful orientation in a chaotic world. Some meaning is favoured due to the prevailing social structures. Thru language discourses are produced that helps us understand how the world is constructed.

I dag pågår ett nationellt miljömålsarbete som utgår från de 15 nationella miljökvalitetsmålen, vilket har sin grund i ett tidigare miljömålsarbete som utgick från 13 nationella miljöhot. Syftet med uppsatsen har varit att med fallet Kinda kommun undersöka svårigheter och möjligheter med att utforma lokala miljömål utifrån nationella miljömål. Detta riktar fokus mot den rumsliga skalproblematiken som kan uppstå när nationella mål skalas ner till lokala mål. Vägledande frågeställning har varit; Vilka svårigheter uppkommer när det gäller att utforma lokala miljömål utifrån de nationella? Vilka möjligheter har en liten kommun att anpassa och genomföra de nationella miljömålen på lokal nivå? Grunden för uppsatsen är en kvalitativ fallstudie, där tyngdpunkten ligger på instudering och jämförelse av befintlig relevant litteratur samt intervjuer.

This study focuses on the politics around ecological sustainable development in Sweden today, with emphasis on urban development, building and living. The starting-point for this study is the environmental adapted city district of Stockholm, Hammarby Sjöstad. The primary focus of the study is to investigate what means of control the environmental investment in Hammarby Sjöstad is expressing, and to elucidate their ideological, political and social implications. The empirical material is primarily based up on the local Hammarby Sjöstad environmental program along with qualitative in-depth interviews with citizens of this district. The study is based on critical discourse analysis The result of this study is that the ecological investment in Hammarby Sjöstad partly constitutes a hidden exercise of power, taking shape as built-in physical measures in the dwellings and the neighbouring surroundings.

The purpose of this study is to characterize the research in the field of Knowledge Organization, during the period of 1990-2002, focusing on the subject and the epistemology of these studies. The result shows that studies concerning representation, e.g. subjects such as classification, indexing and bibliographic description, are the most frequently researched areas throughout the period. Classification was more popular in the beginning of the period, but later bibliographic description, mostly with studies on metadata, became more visible, together with a growing interest in information retrieval. The theoretical discussions in the studies focused primarily on document analysis and the organization of digital documents.

Usability studies are not a central field of research in library and information science. Although literature in library and information science treats the importance of usable user interfaces quite extensively, the literature does not significantly treat potential problems in measuring usability. The aim of this master thesis is to investigate, through a critical analysis, the methods used when conducting usability studies in library and information science. The critical analysis is based on potential problems in measuring usability identified through a literature review from the field of studies Human-Computer Interaction, the concept of usabilitys original domain. The material which is to be analysed, is chosen from one library and information science journal Journal of the American Society for Information Science and Technology.

This project investigates the cooperation between architect and engineer. The context of the investigation is the design of buildings for a sustainable society. The goal of the project is to further the development of the sustainable built society by increasing the knowledge of the interdisciplinary cooperation between these two fields. The focus is a close cooperation already from the start of a project. By involving both fields in the early design stages it is thought that the knowledge and skills of each field is better utilized.

Av Luftfartsverkets 19 flygplatser är tre certifierade enligt ISO 14001 standarden, övriga har inte certifierade miljöledningssystem. Utifrån detta är Luftfartsverket intresserade av att jämföra miljöarbetet mellan certifierade och icke-certifierade miljöledningssystem på flygplatser, eftersom certifieringar är kostsamma samt även kräver andra resurser. En certifiering framhävs ofta som en marknadsfördel för företag, men eftersom myndigheter inte är konkurrensutsatta på samma sätt är en certifiering inte lika självklar. Vi har beslutat att studera Luftfartsverket som valt att certifiera tre av sinaflygplatser för att se om det finns ytterliggare förutsättningar om varför man ska certifiera miljöledningssystem i statliga myndigheter. Uppsatsen är tänkt att användas av Luftfartsverket som beslutsunderlag för de enheter som funderar på att certifiera sina miljöledningssystem.

Background: Type 2 diabetes is a disease which causes vascular damage, stroke and premature death.Oxidative stress may play a role in the development of insulin resistance and diabetes. Selenium is amineral involved in the protection against oxidative stress, and has been thought to be favorable in theprevention of the disease. However, this has changed since trials observed positive correlationsbetween high selenium levels and incidence of type 2 diabetes.Objective: To examine the studies that investigates seleniums effect on the incidence of typ 2 diabetesSearch strategy: Searches have been done in PubMed and Scopus.Selection criteria: Included studies were human studies in English/Swedish with RCT or cohortdesign with the aim to investigate the correlation between selenium and incidence of type 2 diabetes.Excluded studies were studies whose aim was to investigate the role of selenium in patients withexisting diabetes. Studies regarding pregnant women, animals or children and with in vitro design werealso excluded. Of the studies found in Scopus where MeSH terms were available, the ones who did notinclude relevant terms were excluded.Data collection and analysis: Studies were collected according to the aforementioned criteria.

Starting point to this Paper is the idea and wish to adapt the society and its different activities to a recycle society. A building area in Göteborg is planned and investigated for such adaptation. In the district named Skogaberg, about 130 households totally are planned from what 20 are blocks of flats. The idea with this project is to constitute an alternative sewage system, a Blackwater system, were the fractions of most nutrients and least pollution are separated, taken care of and utilised. The aim is to get a market and use the nutrients of the organic waste from the household in agriculture use.

In today´s labour market, men and women are segregated, both vertically and horizontally. Exceptions to the rule of gender segregation are few. There is, however, one managerial group where women and men are equal in numbers: school principals. In a short period of time, the distribution in terms of sex among principals in Sweden has changed dramatically. How does gender equality in numbers affect gender equality in a qualitative sense? That is the focus of this thesis.

There are several typical ideas about the suburb. The suburb is often associated with criminality and other social problems such as segregation. The purpose of this essay is to study the picture of how the suburb is constructed in a media context. The method used to answer the purpose of this study is critical discourse analysis, based on the thoughts of Norman Fairclough. The central theoretical ideas for this study are representation, stereotypes and racialization.
