The purpose of this thesis is to examine young people?s information needs whenthey are deciding on what upper secondary education to choose, why they usedInternet to find the information, and how they experienced their informationseeking. A qualitative study was made using interviews. The study?s respondentsconsisted of young people who are soon to be leaving elementary school, andyoung people who have just started their upper secondary education.

I denna slutreflektion beskriver vi tillvägagångssättet för att skapa en grafisk profil och webbplats för Östersjöfestivalen i Karlshamn. Målet var att skapa en profil som passade en bred målgrupp och förmedlade den känslan Östersjöfestivalen ger till besökarna. Vi presenterar hur det har varit att arbeta med en kommun som klient, hur det har varit att skapa en interaktiv webbapplikation med funktioner som sammanfogar en karta med en gästbok, samt hur det har varit att producera något som kommer synas av en stor publik. Utöver detta reflekterar vi över denna process och ger våra tankar och åsikter om projektets gång. Hälsingelivs är en idéel organisation som hjälper lokala producenter i hälsingland att fortbilda sig inom områden, som berör deras verksamhet och erbjuder tjänster för att utveckla nya produkter.De har idag en egen hemsida som behandlar nyheter inom organisationen och intressanta artiklar för producenter i området.Vår uppgift är att skapa en digital plattform för Hälsingelivs, att använda i sin utbildning, som erbjuder såväl kontakt mellan producenterna. Samt möjlighet till att hitta och ta in digitalt lagrade media i form av filmer och text.Rapporten går igenom tankeprocessen, planeringen och utförandet samt teoretiska och praktiska lösningar att arbeta i HTML, PHP programmering, SQL, CSS samt JavaScript för att skapa en digital mötesplats som innehåller forum, användarfunktioner, uppladdning av media, profildesign, sökfunktioner mm. Den ger även en överblick i att jobba med Google API för sökfunktion samt phpbb3-anpassning av en redan fungerande login/registreringsfunktion på den egna sidan. Rapporten går även igenom teoretiska problem gällande anpassningen till öppen källkod och implementering av externa system..

The current state of our web is one where users can create and distribute information freely and without constraining limitations of knowledge. It?s as easy as making a Facebook status update or sending out a Tweet to make contributions to the web and we?re all doing it. Web-Giants like Facebook and Google deinate the web because they have such massive user amounts and therfore they control the information their users see. This is a problem because we?re hidden from the entire information amount that is the web in the 21st century.

The aim of this thesis is to gain a deeper understanding of howsocial contacts can serve as information sources for pregnantwomen. Furthermore, we wanted to examine how women?scontext influences their information seeking and the barriers thatcan occur during information seeking. The theoretical frameworkis founded on Tom Wilson's model of information needs as contextdependent, and Pamela J. McKenzie's model of informationpractices in accounts of everyday-life information seeking.

The subject of this two year Master's thesis in Library and Information Science is the information practices of illiterate immigrants in everyday life. The purpose is to examine how immigrants seek, identify, understand and value information sources and information, and how the practices have changed with their arrival in Sweden. It furthermore focuses on the barriers that illiterate immigrants meet in accessing and understanding information. It moreover investigates the strategies they use to overcome them.For this purpose twelve qualitative research interviews were carried out, with illiterate immigrants as well as with service providers. The theoretical concepts of the essay is information practices, which means that the information process is within a context, and information poverty, that people in different context do not have adequate and equal access to information and information sources.Using McKenzie's model of information practices, the essay concludes that illiterate immigrants are active in their information process, especially when they interact with information.

Ambulansarbetet är ibland stressigt och som ambulanspersonal hanteras bland annat traumapatienter. Det kan upplevas svårt att finna tid till omvårdnaden kring patienten. En del av omvårdnaden är att informera patienten vad som händer för att de ska uppleva en delaktighet och trygghet i vården. I traumasituationer är det svårt att avgöra hur detaljerad informationen ska vara och hur mottaglig patienten är för information, även patientens medvetandegrad är avgörande. Syftet med studien var att beskriva vad ambulanssjuksköterskor anser om information och vilken information som gavs till traumapatienter.

The purpose of this study has been to investigate how individuals with reading- and writing disabilities and dyslexia handle their information need in the workplace. The method that has been used is a qualitative study made with interviews with individuals who have these problems, to see how they think and feel about the flow of information on their everyday basis. The study?s respondents are working women between the ages of 27 and 47 years old and they have reading- and writing disabilities and dyslexia. The most interesting results of this study are that the respondents are avoiding jobs where they need to read and write much and where they also do not like changes in their job situation.

BAKGRUND: Borås brandkårsmuseum var i behov av en ny hemsida med pedagogiska funktioner och användarvänligt gränssnitt. Uppdraget gavs till den pedagogiska institutionen vid högskolan i Borås och resulterade till slut i det här examinationsarbetet. SYFTE: Att skapa en lärande och interaktiv hemsida, främst riktad till skolungdomar, som förmedlar den historia Brandkårsmuseet i Borås representerar. Samtidigt kommer vi att studera den process där vi tillsammans med uppdragsgivarna utformar hemsidans innehåll och funktion METOD: En aktionsbaserad ansats med inspiration av Lev Vygotskijs lärandeteorier. För systemutvecklingen har man utgått från ?Vattenfallsmodellen? och ?Tvåstegsmodellen?.

In this degree project I have studied how an anti-discrimination bureau can adapttheir online information to the target group ? immigrants who only have modestunderstanding of the Swedish language. This group is often subject of discriminationmatters, and therefore it?s important that they can take part of the information.To find answers to my questions I have studied different relevant theories, performeda readability analysis on the online information and have had qualitativeinterviews with representatives from the target group. I have also tested my rewrittentexts on both representatives and other readers.The result from my studies has shown that it is words that are the most difficult inthe current online information, while length and structure of the sentences are alsoof importance when it comes to the readability.

De tydligaste slutsatserna vi har kommit fram till i vår undersökning, är att företag bör satsa på att erbjuda, de mjukvaruutvecklare som har en anställning, intressanta och roliga arbetsuppgifter. De arbetssökande, som ännu inte har en anställning, motiveras främst av ett bra arbetsklimat. Företagen bör inte, oberoende om de ska attrahera arbetskraft eller få personal att stanna kvar, konkurrera med lönesättning då, individerna i vår undersökning, ansåg att det endast gav effekt tills att de nått en viss lönenivå. I jämförelsen mellan företagen har vi inte observerat någon speciell skillnad, gällande vilka faktorer som företagen tror motiverar mjukvaruutvecklarna. Eftersom Sony Ericsson är ett större och mer välkänt företag måste mindre företag, som Ajilon, anpassa sina personalstrategier så att de blir mer attraktiva.

In the media richness of everyday life, the encounter with information graphics ishappening on a daily basis, whether we are aware or not. With the development andeasy access of technologies, new ways to create and display information graphics hasemerged. Among them, the animated information graphics, which in the few pastyears appears to have increased in popularity on video sharing websites such asVimeo and Youtube. In the genre of animated information graphics, there seems to bean inherent diversity regarding the design characteristics. In this study we exploredliterature and research on information graphics and related subjects.

In the project Echoing Nature i have searched a design for an exhibi¬tion concept. That visualizes the natural phenomenon of self-assem¬bling materials in a simplified way. My question is, how can you emo¬tionally re-connect the modern man to nature and raise awareness. I assume my thesis that the experience of a natural phenomenon can inspire us to see a bigger context, provoke curiosity and generate an initial sense of belonging to nature. The result is an interactive sculp¬ture that consists of 3-dimensional Tetris blocks.

The purpose of this bachelor thesis is to find out how information seeking habits and experiences of people in different generations affects their expectations on information retrieval systems like OPAC. Two OPACs are used, one web-OPAC and one mobile-OPAC. The following questions are asked: how can theories about information seeking behaviors explain why and in which way one seeks information? In which way does information seeking behaviors and habits affect the experience of OPAC? Which differences and/or similarities can be found between the web-OPAC and the mobile-OPAC? How does generational aspects affect experiences and preferences in an information seeking context? The theoretical framework of the thesis is information retrieval with several models about information-seeking/searching needs and behaviors. The empirical data contains interviews with nine people in different generations and protocols about two different OPACs.

The deregulation during the last decade within the airline businesses have called upon a more fierce competition among airlines. This fact forces airlines to continuously focus on service development in order to offer attractive solutions to satisfy customers changing needs and stay competitive. This paper focuses on service development at Scandinavian Airlines. The aim of this case study is to examine the sources of information used in service development and new service development at Scandinavian Airlines. Further the aim is to examine whether information derived from customers can be shown to play a more important role in either service development or new service development.
