This thesis deals with numerical simulation of earth pressure against tubular bridges in the software Plaxis. Plaxis is a FEM (Finite Element Method) software based on numerical calculations for which approximate solutions are developed through an iterative process. The program is specifically designed for soil and rock mechanical tests, such as voltage and deformation calculations in soil.The Royal Institute of Technology conducted in 2005, field tests on tubular bridges of corrugated steel, which was part of Ersa Bayoglu Fleners PhD (Bayoglu Flener, 2009). She studied how two different tubular bridges deformed during installation and filling. Tests and measurements were made during filling.

This case study presents how the unit of munition-searching dogs of the Swedish armed forces handles their experiences from international service. The subject is particularly interesting as previous research into the area is nonexistent. The questions asked in the study are answered through the authors findings that training and preparation of this unit has developed thanks to the input of lessons learned from previous missions. This thesis is about the interaction between composition, notation and interpretation and what occurs between the fields with an extended notation.The purpose of my thesis is to examine the possibilities tothoroughly describe and map the sounding samples through composition prototypes.The thesis has a qualitative approach, and the empirical material consists of different documents about notation and from interviews with musicians and students about the instruments used in the thesis.It also consists of 17 compositions recorded at Örebro University School of Music as an appendix.The analysis shows that the context in which the symbols are found, play an important role in performing them. The purpose of this study is to examine the effect the Nazi threat had on the swedish labour movement between 1932 and 1939 and to enrich what kind of pre-understanding they had about the fall of the Weimar Republic and the upcoming and effects of the Third Reich.Brought by the development in Germany, a debate and struggle took place in the Social Democratic journal Tiden over the meaning of concepts and there ability, in the hands of demagogs, to overthrow democratic structures. The concept of socialism and its concepts attribute play a major part in this investigation. By establishing fields of tension such as - nation vs internationalism, socialism in theory and in practice, political democracy vs evolved democracy and the diverse principles of neutrality, the first principle meaning the defending of national boarders, the other meaning not only defending your own country but taking an active part in defending democracy in the world - I was able to observe the movement and change of concepts within this fields. The result showing that the concept of socialism and near related attributes, in the hands of national socialists had undertaken a wast change of meaning, which applied in the Swedish debate threatened to undermine the power and force of the Social Democrats applied in the political discourse in Sweden. To defend itself and strengthening the Social Democratic hegemony as well as maintaining the goal of evolved democratic expansion, they were forced to win the confidence and votes of the middle class.

This report describes the development of a well?functioning and aesthetically appealing web portal and associated database for a company called Svensk Kredit & Försäkringsförmedling AB (Translated: Swedish Credit & Insurance intermediation AB). The portal will test customers' creditworthiness through another company called Business Check in Sweden AB.Administrators to the web portal have a special user interface to display all customers, to disburse the money to the customer and edit customer information. A super?user interface is available for administrators where they can change the information on all administrator accounts.Many aspects of security has been addressed because the web portal will handle personal information.

In the middle of Australia there is a city called Alice Springs. The city has one of the highest amounts of daily sunshine hours and sun irradiation in the world. The Australian Government runs a project called Solar Cities, and Alice Springs is one of the participators. The main part of the goal with the Solar Cities project is to increase the amount of electricity generated by solar power and by doing that lower the impact on the environment. This thesis examines the possibilities for construction of a large scale solar power plant in Alice Springs. This is done to determine the potential of creating a more sustainable energy system in the city.

This thesis has been conducted at Saab Bofors Dynamics AB. The purpose was to investigate if a non-linear missile model could be stabilized when the optimal control signal is computed considering constraints on the control input. This is particularly interesting because the missile is controlled with rudders that have physical bounds. This strategy is called Model Predictive Control. Simulations are conducted to compare this strategy with others; firstly simulations with step responses and secondly simulations when the missile is supposed to hit a moving target.

The thesis explores how the category religion is used discursively in Swedish public debates and in what way the discourses can be related to debate-positions. The thesis also exploresquestions of power and how social identities are negotiated: which identities are madepossible ? and encouraged ? by the discourse, and which are being excluded?The specific cases chosen are: (i) the election of Omar Mustafa as a substitute member of the governing board of the Social Democratic party in April 2013, (ii) the appointment of Elisabeth Svantesson as Minister of employment in September 2013, (iii) the debate concerning male circumcision (2011-2013), and, (iv) the debate about Jewish home education(2012-2013).The theoretical and methodological perspectives used in the thesis are discourse analysis and Pierre Bourdieu?s theory of social fields, usually interwoven together. Discourse analysis is mainly used to explore how the category of religion is attached to central binaries in the debates such as faith/politics, private/public, secularism/fundamentalism, etc., and also how chains of equivalences are established. Bourdieu?s theory of social fields is used tocontextualize the discourses in the specific debates and relate them to orthodox and heterodox debate-positions.

The consumption and energy use in today's society contributes to the on-going climate change that creates a debt of life quality for future generations (www, DN, 2007, a). The resources that are used by humans exceed by far what is sustainable (www, Regeringen, 2007, a). The purpose of this paper is to examine how a message about energy conservation should be designed to reach youths. This will be attempted by showing their thoughts on energy and environmental issues and also what it would take for them to get more involved in these issues. The views of the youths are gained by a number of focus group-interviews, which where carried out in the fall of 2007, with kids in the ages 12 to 19. Apart from these interviews, interviews where also conducted with representatives from different youth organisations in Sweden, which gave their views on how to get a message across to kids.

Undersöknings syfte var att närmare ta reda på hur ett grafiskt gränssnitt för en och samma webbplats lämpligt kan anpassas för att ge en likvärdigt god användarupplevelse oberoende användaren använder sig av en vanlig dator eller en tablet.För att undersöka problemlösande designmönster prövades en teorisyntes baserad på befästa användbarhetsläror, så som metoder för visibility, affordance, mapping, begränsningar och feedback samt tekniker för grafisk gränssnittsdesign och navigation mot en fallstudie.Fallstudien utgjorde en del av ett större projekt, att ta fram ett koncept för en webbplats avseende ett arkitekturmagasin, att vara kompatibel med såväl en desktop som en tablet avseende möjligheten att med gott resultat ta del av samma tjänstekoncept oberoende plattform.Fallstudien gjordes i flera steg genom att först skapa ett passande tjänstekoncept avseende webbplatsens syfte, för att sedan i iterationer skapa ett interaktions- och ett grafiskt ramverk. Under produktionen togs framför all två saker i beaktande; inputmöjligheter både för desktop med mus och tablet med hand eller finger samt konceptuell modeller vad gällande navigation från både tablet och desktopbruk. Iterationerna avslutades med användartester där fyra personer fick prova de framkomna koncepten.Resultatet och analysen av fallstudien pekar på att det finns riktlinjer vilka en designer kan och eventuellt bör följa för att få ett lyckat resultat.Bland dessa riktlinjer är finkänsligheten gällande input den klara skillnaden mellan en desktop med en mus och en tablet med pekskärm. Därför bör alla interaktiva objekt alltid utformas och placeras så att de är lätta att aktivera oberoende metod för input.För ökad läsbarhet bör inte för liten text användas och dessutom tillkommer avvägning för navigation där det är viktigt att inte fastna i gamla webbdesignkonventioner med djupa hierarkier, utan i stället sträva mot en informationsarkitektur som möjliggör för enkel översikt och navigering.Analysen visar även på att överdådig grafik bör undvikas för att inte försätta användaren i en situation där den behöver fundera över hur den ska göra något snarare än vad..

The focus of this thesis is primarily in electronic construction and describes the design process for a microcontroller circuit board from concept development to prototyping. The client develops test fixtures for automated testing of products within the electronics industry and needs a new controller circuit for the test fixtures that can handle controls and basic testing. An investigation into the needs of such a system is conducted and a prototype printed circuit board assembly is manufactured.The prototype is developed with focus on protection against electrostatic discharges and overvoltage. Among the functions that are included are voltage measurements, communication interfaces and control of input and output currents. Firmware for the prototype is developed and configured to communicate with a PC through USB interface for control and collecting of measurements..

Inom matematikämnet har e-bedömningar, aktiviteter där digitala tekniker används för att bedöma studenters kunskaper, inte utvecklats i samma takt som e-bedömningar inom andra områden. Detta beror sannolikt på det stora inslag av symboler och icke-standardiserade tecken som karakteriserar matematiskt språk och särskiljer det från traditionellt skriftspråk. Ett problem som har noterats i samband med e-bedömningar inom matematik är att inmatningen av matematiska uttryck i ett digitalt system i många fall varit långsam och svår att begripa. Den här rapporten syftar till att undersöka tre kategorier av inmatningsmetoder utifrån aspekterna snabbhet, korrekthet och upplevd lätthet för att på så sätt skapa en bild av vilken av teknikerna som lämpar sig bäst att implementera i en e-bedömningsapplikation riktat mot den svenska gymnasieskolan. För att uppnå syftet har jag granskat tre familjer av tekniker genom att låta gymnasieelever genomföra inmatningar av matematiska uttryck och analysera dessa inmatningar baserat på inmatningstid, korrekthet och upplevd lätthet.Resultaten visar på att det finns tydliga skillnader mellan de undersökta teknikerna med avseende på samtliga undersökta aspekter.

The purpose of this thesis is to investigate the employees´ duty of loyalty to their employer when making statements on social media networks and if this opposes the employees´ right to freedom of speech. Another purpose of this thesis is to investigate freedom of speech from an EU juridical point of view. Also a discussion concerning gender issues on this subject takes place is presented in the thesis. The questions to answer the purpose of this thesis are the following: Where is the line drawn for what an employee can publish on a social media network without breaching their duty of loyalty towards their employer?, and How does an employee´s freedom of speech relate to these types of statements on a social media network? The method used for this thesis is the classical legal method.The legal inquiry shows that duty of loyalty is a hidden clause in all employment contracts, and it must be respected by the employee.
