In a complex and turbulent world, several companies begin to realize the value of information as a strategic resource and try to find strategies to manage this. This master thesis aims to describe the information management at Axis Communications AB. Axis is a fast growing company and due to this they have not been able to manage the flow of information whitin the company. To find out how the information was managed at this time we made a survey and employee interviews at three Axis business units. By analyzing the surveys and interviews we found several problems.

These expectations and guidelines are documented in a company?s management system, which can be designed differently depending on what standards the company chooses to implement.

Privata och offentliga organisationer uppmärksammar allt mer behovet av en strukturerad och effektiv metod för att kunna hantera denna oundvikliga informationstillväxt.Uppsatsen syftar till att identifiera potential att förbättra det nuvarande informationssystemet inom Bild- och Funktionsregistret genom att tillämpa en Information Lifecycle Management-strategi utifrån Leanperspektivets värderingar. Studien inleddes med en litteraturstudie där de huvudsakliga Lean- och Information Lifecycle Management-principer definierades för att skapa ett teoretiskt underlag för vidare studier. Den efterföljande empiriska fallstudien av Bild- och Funktionsregistret och Sahlgrenska Universitetssjukhuset genomfördes för att få en ordentlig och tydlig bild av den organisationen och dess informationssystem.Fallstudien identifierade de huvudsakliga problemen och möjligheterna i den nuvarande organisationen. Problemen i form av organisatoriska brister, bristande användning av systemet och växande informationsvolymer bemöts genom införande av klassificering, strategisk integration och hierarkisk lagring av information.

När en stad växer måste man ta ställning till hur det ska ske. Idag är biltrafiken dominerande i Göteborg och i framtiden skulle spårbunden trafik och utbyggd pendeltågstrafik i regionen kunna innebära mer hållbara tranporter. En pendeltågsstation har ett relativt begränsat omland och behöver för fullt utnyttjande bebyggas nära inpå. Den spårbundna trafiken kan dock innebära störningar och risker. Jag undersöker i mitt examensarbete hur en ny stadsdel utanför Göteborg kan byggas ut kring en tänkt pendel­tågs­station.

The study set out to find how artists organize and use their personal collections from a Personal Information Management (PIM) perspective, and how that use affects their practice and their art production. A secondary object of the study was to articulate the ways that personal collections are utilized as tools by creative users.  The empirical data consisted of five qualitative, semi-structured interviews with Swedish and Norwegian sound artists. The constant comparative method was used for analysis, and Activity Theory was used as a theore- tical framework for the study. The study concluded that artists? personal collections, while diverse in content and structure, serve the same functions as tools in creative processes, and that attention to the uses of personal collections highlight needs that could be better met by integrated PIM-functionality.

Prior studies have shown that earnings management can be used either to inform or to mislead investors about the future performance of a company. However, few studies have examined the impact of earnings management on forecasting return on equity (ROE). The aim of this thesis is to investigate whether the ability to forecast next year's ROE is improved when taking earnings management, measured as discretionary accruals, into account. This is examined by comparing a forecast model that takes the magnitude of discretionary accruals into consideration with a model that does not. The study is based on companies that were listed on the Stockholm Stock Exchange during 2002-2012.

The purpose of this master thesis is to implement and validate a Power System Stabilizer (PSS) to a generator at Trängslet hydropower station in Dalarna, Sweden. Problems with local rotor oscillations can occur at the hydropower station when power is transferred on a new power line (130 kV) from Northern to Southern part of Dalarna. To ensure good operation properties on this power line Fortum Generation AB and Fortum Distribution AB wants to activate a PSS on a generator.There have been investigations in which situations and what equipment that contributes to rotor oscillations. When this is known the PSS is tuned to damp these oscillations by choosing a good set of parameters. The most important parameters for good performance are to choose amount of gain and phase compensation.

The purpose of this thesis is to analyze the design and function of an engine production management?s control system and its intended function, and to contrast it with the present management control systems in use on an operational level. Interviews conducted with employees from all levels of the engine production are the main source of this study?s empirical foundation.
