AUSTERS 1:61 - ett fritidshus på Gotland
A few hundred metres from the beach on Fårö, Gotland, is a small lot with pine trees, green moss and wild fl owers situated, owned by my brother and sister. Eventually they would like tobuild a summerhouse here, in close proximity to their relatives. My project is a proposal for the summerhouse at the site, within the restrictions of 61 m² building area, with focus on interior, exterior and the environment. My proposal is a house close to the surrounding nature, with reference to the the building tratition on the island and with local materials. Orientation to the sun, road and neighbours hasall infl uenced my ideas of this house and the relation between inside and outdoor living, were important in my creative work. The aim was to create a house made for the family and theirholiday lifestyle and allowed consideration for the possibility of a growing family with more children.
For several years has there been a leading line
from the government and the municipalities
in Sweden to invest in schools and school
grounds. The outdoor environment of
schools has been rediscovered and given a
greater importance. Investments have been
made both practically with reconstruction
and in a research context. Although, my
work started with an assumption that these
investments were mainly made at primary
schools, and that secondary schools were set
aside. The thesis This is my schoolyard.
The European Union is a 60 year long collaboration between the European countries. It was born from the intention to ease trade and thereby reassure peace. Within the 60 years
EU has functioned it has developed and expanded further. In 1952 it evolved around the trade of coal and steel between six countries, today it includes 27 nations and oversees a
large number of topics such as foreign affairs, a common currency and regional politics.
EU has grown at several times, the latest expansion was the largest where 12 new countries became members. The unions of countries that only 60 years ago were at different sides
of a world war can be considered an accomplishment.
The Mulberry School : reflektion över en designprocess
The quality of a design can improve essentially through a
participatory designprocess. Initially, The Mulberry School
project was supposed to be finished in two months but the
involvement of artist Scott G Burnham extended the work
and brought a new dimension into the project. In the beginning,
Scott and I both worked on the project unaware of each other. I was
appointed by the architect to design the external areas of the school
and based on a site survey and analysis of the factors infl uencing
the site I created a design proposal with the concept form and
function.
At the same time Scott performed a series of workshops initiated
by the school. The purpose and goal was to include the students in
the redevelopment of the school and to produce a design based on
the thoughts and wishes of the students.
Ulleråker sjukhus : trädgård och park : vårdprogram
In the middle of the 19th century came an opposite reaction against the hospitals? treatment of their patients and a more human way was requested. A link between crowded housing, bad hygien and other bad conditions had been noticed and nature was considered to be healthy. Hospitals and sanatiories moved closer to nature due to influences from England, USA and Germany, and cities began building public parks. Employment was seen as calming and healthy for the patients.
