Thermia Värme AB is one of the market leading manufactures of heat pumps. In order tomaintain this position, the company wants to improve the vibration characteristics of theirproducts. The aim of this thesis is to develop product design changes that lead to a reductionof vibrations in the heat pump Thermia Diplomat 8.The main cause for vibrations in the system is flow pulsation and mechanical forces inducedby the scroll compressor. Vibration is transmitted through the compressor piping and receivedby the heat exchangers, from where it is further transmitted to the connection points for theradiator and heat source circuits.A number of design changes in order to improve the vibration characteristics have beenevaluated through calculations and practical experiments. The changes have included thecompressor and heat exchanger mountings, the compressor suction and discharge line pipingand also pulsation dampening.The results of the experiments show that the vibration levels in the connections for the heatingand brine circuits can be decreased strikingly through changes in suction and discharge linepiping.

This study focuses on the encounter between the academic librarian and the academic library user with a specific need for information. The aim of the study is to examine the process of mediation of information and to uncover any inherent problems or systemic Inertia that may occur within that process.Special attention has been given to information-seeking behaviour in the digital age and the possibility of viewing information literacy as a meta-literacy. The difference between the surface web and the academic invis- ible web is also investigated. Empirical data was collected by the use of ethnographic fieldwork at the Karolin- ska Institutet University Library over a period of five weeks. The data is analysed using actor-network theory as a point of departure.

This thesis is the result of the investigation and solution of a mechanicalproblem regarding flywheel malfunctions. A flywheel is, in short, a devicethat relies on a rotating object?s moment of Inertia to store energy overshort time spans. This project is part of the development of a fourthflywheel prototype at the division for electricity at Uppsala university,which uses magnetic levitation to keep a hollow cylinder rotating at veryhigh speeds inside a vacuum chamber. Should the magnets fail however, orsome other error occur that leads to an uncontrolled state of rotation, thecylinder needs to be stabilized mechanically by a device usually referredto as ?back-up bearing?.

Since universities are important organizations where our future citizens get their education and become socialized, I found it interesting to investigate how a Swedish university handles the gender equality issue in the process of recruitment. The aim of this study was to contribute with a higher level of knowledge and understanding about the recruitment process out of a gender equality perspective. The aim was also to identify which stages of the recruitment process that was vulnerable out of a gender equality perspective.

This report describes the construction work of a radar antenna for the radar systemCARABAS. CARABAS is a long wave airborne ground radar that has been developed bySAAB Microwave Systems and will now be mounted on a small helicopter, Schweizer 300.The antenna should be able to fold up and down. When the radar is in use the antenna islowered and under transport, start and landing the antenna is folded up. An emergency dropfunction should also be included in the design of CARABAS III.The extent of this report includes construction of the antenna, frame structure attached to thehelicopter, mechanism for folding the antenna up and down and mechanism for emergencydrop function. The mechanical design of the antenna and frame structure is based on modaland stress analysis, vibration measurement of Schweizer 300 and frequency analysis, andcalculations regarding aerodynamic drag and mechanics.The exciting frequencies of the helicopter and accelerations at those frequencies weredetermined by vibration measurement and frequency analysis.

Det här examensarbetet har utförts på beräkningsgruppen inom hyttutveckling, Scania CV AB i Södertälje under perioden juni-november 2007. Syftet med arbetet har varit att undersöka hur utmattningsbedömning av hyttstommen kan förbättras genom användning av så kallade virtuella skakriggar. Främst har skadan på torpedplåten i hyttens front undersökts. Dessutom har möjligheten att använda metoden som utgångspunkt för att förenkla beräkning av krafter omkring hyttupphängningen undersökts. Med den virtuella skakriggen utgår man från uppmätta accelerationer och tar med en iterativ process fram de lastsignaler i hyttens infästningspunkter som ger samma beteende hos hytten som uppmätts i prov.

A problem in the field of district heating is the oil burners needed to provide power when a peak load occurs. One possible way of reducing the needed amount of oil is to reduce the power demand for space heating in the district-heating substations when the need for district heating water exceeds a certain limit. This can be done by use of a locally working controller function.In this Thesis the options concerning load priority are evaluated. To evaluate the potential for using controller functions concerning peak load priority an experiment was brought out in a chosen district-heating substation. The impact on the indoor thermal comfort during a heat reduction was also taken into account.

Syfte: Syftet med denna uppsats är att analysera utvecklingen av användandet av elektroniska business-to-business auktioner, utifrån ett kundperspektiv i fordonsbranschen. Metod: Denna uppsats präglas av den kvalitativa metoden, för att därigenom ge en ökad förståelse kring utvecklingen av användandet av e-auktioner. Inledningsvis har en litteraturstudie genomförts, varpå intervjuer med representanter för företag i fordonsbranschen gjorts. Slutsatser: Som utgångspunkt har vi valt uppskattningen att e-auktioner skall motsvara 25 procent av den elektroniska B2B-handeln i fordonsindustrin 2002. Det råder en övertygelse om att en betydande missräkning gjorts.

These interviewees represent different facets of the industry and facilitate an understanding of which factors, such as: investment costs, operating costs, reliability, environmental impact and the influence of external and internal actors, come into play and to which degree they impact the investment decision-making process. The results show that primarily low operating cost in the form of low energy consumption is the driving factor when it comes to the procurement of new equipment. A lower environmental impact is a positive side-effect of lower energy consumption.

Innebandy är en växande idrott, som framför allt utövas i Sverige, Finland och Schweiz, men där väldigt lite forskning ännu finns publicerad. Tidigare studier inom ishockey och baseboll har visat att träning med viktmanipulerad utrustning förbättrat bland annat greppstyrka och svinghastigheten av slagträ i baseboll. Annan forskning har visat på att det är en förbättring i det neuromuskulära samspelet snarare än ökad muskelmassa som förbättrat prestationen vid dynamisk motståndsträning. Skotthastigheten anses vara en viktig faktor inom innebandy för prestationen och eftersom det inom baseboll har visats att viktmanipulerad utrustning kan förbättra svinghastigheten så vore det intressant att se om samma resultat kan uppnås inom innebandy. Syftet med studien var att undersöka effekten av innebandyträning med en viktmanipulerad innebandyklubba med avseende på dragskottshastighet och greppstyrka hos manliga innebandyspelare samt undersöka korrelationen mellan dragskottshastighet och greppstyrka.

En stor del av Sveriges energianvändning går till bostäder och lokaler. Ur en nationell synvinkel är energieffektiviseringar i befintliga byggnader därför en potentiellt viktig del för att kunna nå de satta klimatmålen till år 2020.I ett traditionellt styr- och reglersystem styrs framledningstemperaturen i ett vätskeburet värmesystem efter en kurva som beror på utomhustemperaturen. En del nya styr- och reglersystem tar även hänsyn till andra parametrar, såsom byggnaders värmetröghet och lokala väderprognoser. Ett exempel på ett sådant system är Ecopilot, utvecklat av Kabona. Nuvarande kunskap angående hur stor energibesparing som styr- och reglersystem med prognosstyrning och styrning som utnyttjar byggnadens värmetröghet ger upphov till består till största del av referensfall som jämför byggnaders energianvändning före och efter installationen.I detta examensarbete undersöktes hur energianvändning och inomhusklimat påverkades av prognosstyrning och styrning som utnyttjar byggnaders värmetröghet.

As society constantly changes, new and different needs arise in the city and it is necessary that architects and planners understand and adapt to these changes. They have to be able to develop new ways of thinking and to challenge established perceptions of what the public space is and should be. This means being able to see that the public space could be different and to recognize the potentials for it to change. This project examines the underlying ideals of urbanism and investigates the potentials of the City when shaped by these ideals.
