The framing of the events are used to simplify the facts and to make them emotionally accessible.

Media affects our views of the world and plays a large part in creation and dissemination of social representations. Through media?s increasing importance, people and organizations need to work harder to stand out among the large amounts of brands that exists today.In 2013, Umea? Energi launched a commercial concept about Dolf and Ja?rven, two characters living in Lill-Grobban, a fictional village outside of Umea?. The aim of this qualitative study is to examine how Umea? Energi uses stereotypes in the commercial concept Dolf and Ja?rven and how this affects the respondents, and in the long run the stereotypification of norrlandians.

Att mäta image - en studie av kulturella och etniska aspekter i varumärkesundersökningar

Under andra delen av 1900- talet har Sverige växt till en av världens största smältdeglar när det gäller kultur och etnicitet. Här finns representanter från nästan hela världen vilka alla mer eller mindre är verksamma som konsumenter på den svenska marknaden. Detta innebär att de tar intryck och är utsatta för diverse olika marknadsstimuli som till exempel varumärken och dess image och genom sitt agerande på marknaden ger de intryck tillbaka till företagen. Ett varumärkes image mäts bäst med olika varumärkesundersökningar. Problemet som vi redovisar i vårt resultat är att det finns stora svårigheter vid urval och utformning av anpassade undersökningar på grund av att begreppen kultur och etnicitet är mycket svårdefinierade.

The thesis mission is to investigate whether the swiveling laser that Vectura (former Vägverket Konsult) has in use to measure the road areas and straddle measuring can be used to detect differences in the reflective road markings function. This is to increase use of the swiveling laser and get rid of the manual measurements performed today.Currently, the measurement of road markings reflective function is performed with both mobile and handheld measuring instruments. The purpose of this thesis is to develop better methods for determination of road markings? reflective function, in order to facilitate the description and suggestions for improvements of the maintenance of road markings reflective function.The questions that the thesis has been to start with are:Can the swiveling laser detect differences in longitudinal and transverse road markings reflective function?The accuracy of measurement has been sweeping the laser over the reference instrument (LTL-2000)Is it necessary with a conversion factor for swiveling laser data against the reference instrument data?To answer the question 2 and 3, there has been a field work in Värnamo where a road stretch with longitudinal road markings and zebra crossing (transverse road markings) has been investigated with a swiveling laser and LTL-2000.The formulas and calculations contained in the thesis are drawn from scientific reports that are produced by VTI in Linköping. The same formula that was used to calculate the optical measurement data was also used for the swiveling laser data.

That's the way the cookie crumbles : En kvalitativ fallstudie av hur förpackningsförändringar kan påverka ett varumärkes image.

Syftet är att undersöka hur en förpackningsförändring påverkar ett varumärkes image. Det varumärke som undersökts är Gille som genomförde förpackningsförändringar under 2012. Detta är en fallstudie med ett kvalitativt tillvägagångssätt genom strukturerad samtalsintervju, kvalitativ textanalys och fokusgrupper. I teorikapitlet presenteras de teoretiska utgångspunkter som ligger till grund för studiens problemområde; att kommunicera ett varumärke, att särskilja ett varumärke samt att kommuncera via förpackningen. Studien visar att majoriteten av fokusgruppsdeltagarnas bilder av varumärket förbättrades i samband med förändringarna. Resultaten visade att den bild varumärket vill kommunicera och den bild deltagarna hade inte stämde överens, vilket indikerar på ett glapp mellan varumärkesidentiteten och imagen. Förpackningsförändringarna resulterade även i svagare varumärkesassociationer, då ingen av respondenterna kunde koppla de nya förpackningarna till varumärket. .

Destination marketing looks different from that of traditional marketing, since the product, in this case the destination, consists of several different parts compared to a good. A destination is marketed as a process where the consumption takes place at the same time as the production. Destination marketing organizations, DMO?s, are responsible for the marketing of a destination. Since destinations consist of several parts such as the train trip to the destination, restaurant visits, shopping, hotel stays etc., it is difficult for the DMO?s to fully control how a tourist perceive the destination.

Myrorna - subkulturens butikskedja : en studie i varumärkesutvecklande

AIM This report studies the Swedish vintage store company Myrorna from a branding perspective.METHOD The study has applied the qualitative method where four personal interviews have taken a fundamental ground. The four respondents are taken from different professionals and from different positions by the reason that the brand would be based on a fair assessment. The study is obtaining data that further was collected from the library of University of Gävle, the articles from Emerladinsight.com and remaining pictures- and text materials is taken from the organization Myrorna. The theoretical material have been adapted on the brand Myrorna and then been used to analyze the empirical part. From the general impression that portrays the brand the researcher leads the discussion.RESULT AND CONCLUSION The result shows that the brand Myrorna in some extent do not fulfill the image the brand in the media mediate, between the illusion and the reality there is an empty space according to the research.

A film can attract all kinds of emotions and moods of the audience through its audiovisual communications and cinematic expression, in which music plays a significant role in both understanding and interpretation of film content.It is interesting to explore the musical significance and the emotional aspect of the film out of a media and communications perspective and visual communications perspective because it?s a subject that belongs to the communications of scientific discipline as film is a media text which is working both as communicative and as audio-visual medium with its expressive aspects.The purpose of this bachelor?s paper is to increase and deepen the understanding of music's function and significant role in context with its reinforcing sense of visual expression in film. More specifically, it aims to explore the musical value of the expressive aspect of the media text in form of film musical Les Misérables (2012), which has been transmedialised from the novel of the same name, referring to the sound, music and song in relation to the film's visual expression.The research questions are at the core of the essay study: "how is music used to reinforce the cinematic visual expression?" and "how can music signify the narrative and highlight the emotional aspect of the film?" The theoretical framework is based on some of the key scholars assumptions such as Michel Chion (1994) and Claudia Gorbman (1987), who share the same theoretical views that the soundtrack seems powerful when it expresses its participation in a scene?s emotional moods as the music follows the scene?s rhythm, the image?s flow and contributes emotional and musical codes of emotions and expressions. According to Chion sound and image interact together to tell a story where sound enrich the image with expressive and informative values.

Att se världen i svart och vitt : En kritisk granskning av SOS Barnbyars reklamkampanjer

The purpose of this thesis is to do a critical review of the aid organization SOS Children?s Villages text- and video campaigns, from a postcolonial perspective. Our purpose is divided into two questions: Are there colonial values in the advertising campaigns? Which language- and image strategies are used by SOS Children?s Villages to put across their messages? Our material consists of 10 selected video clips, and four printed ads that are made up of an image and a short text, which are part of a campaign named: Inte ett enda barn ska behöva vara ensamt (translation: Not a single child should have to be alone). We have chosen to use text- and Image analysis as a method in our review of the material.

Extern granskning av medicinska bilder, framtidens lösning?

In 2009 transgendered persons were included in the Swedish law against discrimination. Prior to the inclusion a commission made an investigation of the necessity of such change in the law and how it could be designed. This essay focuses on the discourses regarding gender that appear in the law and the report written by the commission. Using theories by Judith Butler and discourse analysis inspired by Norman Fairclough it identifies two main discourses regarding gender: a two gender discourse and a queer discourse. The two discourses meet in the studied material in an antagonistic way, a conflict that is solved by separating the two and making one part of the law focus on gender and one on transgender.

Genus i bilderboken : En analys av hur karaktärerna framställs i tre bilderböcker

The picture book is the children's first contact with the world of literature. The aim of our study is to look at how children and adults are portrayed in the picture book, from a gender perspective. Our aim is to critically examine how girls and boys, men and women are presented when it comes to both characteristics and appearance. Our research also focuses on how the text and images complete each other and we conduct a qualitative text and Image analysis. We use Nikolajevas (2000) analytical model for picture books and previous research that already exists within the subject.In our paper we have clarified the concepts related to gender: gender, gender roles, gender equality and the picture book.

Hav, Fästning, Kurort & Surfing - En studie om image och varumärke för en destination, med Varberg som fall

Det är svårt att skapa en enhetlig bild av en destination eller stad, och därför är det svårt att skapa ett destinationsvarumärke. Destinationens image, alltså hur folk ser på destinationen och uppfattar den, kan påverka varumärkets framgång, och även tvärtom. Hur påverkar en destinations varumärke destinationens image, och vice versa? Det är vår forskningsfråga i den här uppsatsen.  An analysis in the work of Martin Kellermans comic ?Rocky? of the interaction between the male and female characters and of how each of their gender are portrayed. We are going to find out if it is probable for young adults to be affected by any eventual gender-stereotypes that we can find in ?Rocky? or if ?Rocky? consolidates a stereotypical image of men and women that young adults might have developed through different media. We conduct this analys by first reading through random seleceted ?Rocky? books and present some of the comic strips where men and women interact with each other or discuss the opposite sex..

Drömmen om Sverige: En studie av Exportrådets informationsfilmer "Världens möjligheter"

Within the fields of business as well as the academic, there is a growing interest for the role images play in an organized conception of the world. This paper acknowledges the relevance of such images and ideas, and its purpose is to examine the fixed ideas and conceptions of the world as they appear in a Swedish organizational context. The Swedish Trade Council is a hybrid organization between the state and private sector with an outspoken purpose of defining an image of the outside world for small and medium size enterprises in Sweden. The underlying question in focus for this study is: What central conceptions of the world appear in the Swedish Trade Council?s information films ?Världens möjligheter?? Within organizational studies, a postcolonial theory has to a large extent been overlooked.
