The purpose of this thesis is to systematically describe and map how authorities define the school library and its function based on the current policy documents for the Swedish upper secondary school. The study is guided by the following questions: ? What dimensions does the school library have according to the explicit definitions, descriptions and requirements? ? What implicit arguments, references and unspoken assumptions about the school library and its role, function and significance can be derived? The study is delimited to the national policy documents, which have been divided into two groups ? structural and teaching focused ? corresponding to the two questions above. Further delimitations have been made to avoid noise and to manage a manual content analysis. Each question required its own analysis tool.

In a global context the traditional democratic process is facing new challenges. Scholars are talking about a transition from government to governance, where local and regional networks as well as international collaboration are an important part in how regional policy is produced and implemented. In this paper the processes in regional projects funded by the European Union are considered, and related to the traditional democratic process. The study has been fulfilled through informant interviews with representatives from four EU-projects. The interviews are supplemented by a qualitative text analysis of current statutes.

The aim was to explore how the first page of a student newspaper has been changed over time since it was founded in the 1960´s.This thesis explores how the front page of the student newspaper Lösnummer has been changed since it was founded in 1966. It concerns the location and frequency of elements and it is based on theories of layout, the first page and visual communicationIn addition, the thesis develops a new kind of method for determining the location of elements on the type area. The method is based on the hexadecimal number system. It is formed as a grid which is placed on the first page to determine the location of the elements.It concludes that the frequency of elements had its peak during the 1970´s and has ever since decreased gradually. Image placement has gone from being scattered all over the front page to be centered and increase in size. .

Title: Jaunty Vaasa-lads and lazy boys ? a study of masculinity and patriotism in the Civil Guard in Vaasa in relation to the Finnish Civil War of 1918.This paper deals with the subject of expressions of masculinity in relation to patriotism and nationalism as a part of the mobilisation of the so called white side in the Finnish Civil War of 1918. With regards to how this was expressed in the local Civil Guard in the town of Vaasa. The focus   lies on the construction of an ideal masculinity within this specific Civil Guard as expressed            in the Guards own documents of different varieties, during the events in the spring of 1918 and at the one year anniversary of its outbreak. SammanfattningSyftet med uppsatsen var att utifrån en utredning av vad begreppen deliberation och demokrati kan betyda i ett skolperspektiv undersöka vilka öppningar, efterfråganden och eventuella hinder för användningen av deliberation i undervisningen som kunde finnas i grundskolans styrdokument. Frågorna som låg till grund för att besvara syftet rörde vad deliberation och demokrati kan betyda i en utbildningssituation, vad begreppen har med varandra att göra och om man kan spåra innehållet i begreppen i grundskolans styrdokument. Det material som undersökts var litteratur som berör de begrepp uppsatsen uppehåller sig kring, samt skollagen, läroplanen för det obligatoriska skolväsendet (Lpo 94) och svenskämnets kursplan för grundskolan. Texterna tolkades utifrån det sociokulturella perspektivet med fokusering på begreppen deliberation och demokrati, och det fördjupade innehåll begreppen får då man ser dem i ett skolperspektiv.Deliberation och demokrati har en gemensam historia som sträcker sig tillbaka till antiken. Man kan se deliberationen som ett demokratiskt redskap.

SYFTE & FRÅGESTÄLLNINGAR Genom vår studie vill vi beskriva den inverkan Instagram har på tjejer och killar i årskurs tre på gymnasiet vad gäller kroppsideal avseende självidentitet, kultur och makt.Hur påverkar medier ungas uppfattning omkroppsideal? Vilken roll har Instagram vad gäller ungdomars syn på kroppsideal och identitetsskapande?METOD &MATERIAL Kvalitativ metod med två fokusgruppsdiskussioner som totalt innefattar tolv personer, sex tjejer och sex killar. Resultatet från våra fokusgrupper har analyserats med hjälp av kvalitativ innehållsanalys.RESULTAT Vi har i vår studie sett tydliga samband mellan media, identitet och bekräftelse på så sätt att media påverkar ungas uppfattning om kroppsideal, deras identitet och bekräftelsebehov. .

Skolan har idag ett stort ansvar att fostra demokratiska medborgare. I läroplanen för grundskolan framgår tydligt att skolan ska genomsyras av demokratiska värden och normer samt skapa möjligheter för elever att utveckla och förstå demokratiska förhållningssätt. Skolan ska ge elever det verktyg de behöver för att kunna leva och verka i ett demokratiskt samhälle.Dramapedagogik ses inte som ett eget ämne i skolan och tidigare forskning har visat att dramapedagogik som forskningsområde i Sverige kan behandlas utifrån större discipliner, men inte som en egen disciplin i sig, trots att metoden är etablerad och tillämpats under flera år. I forskning som behandlat dramapedagogik som metod har det framgått att dramapedagogik innebär att eleverna får lära med alla sina sinnen, att de ges en möjlighet att sätta sin in i andra människors perspektiv samt att elever genom reflektion får ta del av andras åsikter och tankar.Forskning som behandlat demokrati i undervisningen har visat att skolan behöver skapa möjligheter för elever att lära i samspel med andra, att lärande är en process som kräver utöver teoretisk kunskap även praktisk kunskap där reflektionen är det centrala och en helhetssyn på människan är utgångspunkten. Syfte med denna studie är att beskriva och öka förståelsen för dramapedagogers attityder till användandet av dramapedagogiska arbetssätt i undervisning med fokus på demokrati.Tillvägagångssättet för denna studie har varit intervju och resultatet har visat att kunskapen om och inställningen till dramapedagogik styr tillämpningen av metoden ute i skolverksamheterna.Vi bör ändå nämna att resultaten som framgår i studien inte är helt objektiv eftersom studien enbart bygger på dramapedagogers attityder till användandet av en metod som de själva förespråkar..

Detta är en komparativ uppsats som beskriver likheter och skillnader mellan Sydafrikas läroplan, Revised National Curriculum Statement for Schools (Grades R-9), Svenska läroplanen Lpo 94 och kursplanen i religion.Hur en läroplan utformas beror mycket på landets historia. Att Sydafrika har haft mycket problem med exempelvis apartheid speglas också i läroplanen. Demokrati är något som tycks vara mycket viktigt för den sydafrikanska skolan. I Sverige har vi haft demokrati relativt länge, och det verkar nästan som att vi börjar ta detta för givet. Hur stort utrymme demokratin tar i läroplanerna och kursplanen i religion är en av sakerna jag tar upp i denna uppsats.Jag jämför också hur man beskriver religionsämnet i respektive läroplan/kursplan.

This thesis is dedicated to analysing the relationship between Islam and democracy and the role played by Civil Society in a process towards democracy. This theme is further elaborated through a comprehensive study of three modern Muslim intellectuals: Abdolkarim Soroush (Iran), Hasan Hanafi (Egypt), and Tariq Ramadan (Switzerland), and their thoughts about and views on Islam and democracy. Islam has often been portrayed in a stereotype manner where all forms of change are seen as impossible. The aim of this study is to go beyond this vision and instead focus one the role of Islam in processes of development and new forms of interpretation concerning democracy.The thesis is divided into three parts. The first part deals with the relationship between Islam and democracy.

Ett problematiskt förhållande till mat kan grunda sig i en negativ kroppsuppfattning vilket isin tur kan bero på de normer och ideal som individen förväntas leva upp till för att passa in.Kroppsideal speglar inte bara hur kroppen bör se ut enligt normen, utan medföljs också avflertalet värderingar och fördomar om innehavaren. Syftet med denna studie är att utforska om,och i så fall hur, kroppsuppfattningen påverkar relationen till ätande hos gymnasieungdomar.För att fördjupa syftet användes frågeställningar som rörde kroppsuppfattning och ätmönster irelation till kön. Skillnaderna mellan könen belyses utifrån ett genusperspektiv. Totalt deltog222 ungdomar i studien som utfördes genom en enkät.Resultatet visade att det var vanligare att reglera sitt ätande eller att ha negativa känslorkopplat till ätande om kroppsuppfattningen var negativ. Det framkom även att det var någotvanligare att tjejer hade negativa känslor kopplat till ätande.

According to the theory of environmental Kuznets curve there is a relationship between carbon emissions and GDP. The relationship has an inverted U-shape. Carbon emissions rise initially and then decreases once a certain level of GDP is obtained.This essay interprets earlier studies in the field of environmental economics and uses public choice to seek answer on how the population acts on aggregate level. This essay analyses 115 countries in cross-sectional data. The analysis shows that there is a significant relationship between carbon dioxide emissions and GDP that is increasing at first and then decreases for a certain level of GDP.

AbstractWhen the Swedish Centre Party, Centerpartiet, just before Christmas 2012 released a draft for new program of ideas a powerful "winter storm" broke out. Ideas that Centerpartiet would abolish compulsory schooling and the right to inheritance and allow polygamy are just a few of the things that cause alarm.It's not the first time during the last years the Centre Party is associated with neo-liberal elements in their party?s ideology. In 2007 Erik Ullenhag criticized Centerpartiet for their new neo-liberalism was a danger to the alliance.The aim of this study is to investigate whether it is possible to see a change in Centerpartiets ideology and how deep it is. From an idea analytical approach based on ideal types, created for social liberalism, neoliberalism and ecohumanism, the party programs from 2001 and 2013 are studied.

The purpose with this essay is to investigate Swedish political parties who have had or has a restrictive immigration policy containing opinions, that can be classified as xenophobic, and their history and development as a party. The focus in this essay is centred on the politicization that the parties Ny demokrati and Sverigedemokraterna have gone through and the mobilization they have reached. The material that will be handled in this matter are mainly the parties? political programs that have been published in various forms, but these will be supplemented with secondary sources in the form of previous research, reviews by journalists and other literature. The result have shown that the development from 1970 ? 1980´s to today considering these type of organizations is that they have changed in their appearance, in the matter of how they convey their message, and the actual appearance of the party members more than the message itself.

The thesis of this essay is that the concept of governance is a product of the neo-liberal dominant ideology and that the implementation of governance ideas will lead to a weaker nation-state. Using critical theory the essay constructs an ideal type of neo-liberalism and compares its core values with these of the governance concept as treated by the main literature in the area. The essay then focuses on the issue of the state, and discusses whether the changes leading to a demand for governance have actually weakened the state. Furthermore, the essay presents the practical use of the term governance in the EU and Sweden and problemizes the changes that the neo-liberal domination has led to in terms of power and democracy. Finally the essay discusses alternative views on the changing role of the state.
