How do you build cities that are exciting and nice to live in? What factors in the physical environment is it that make you feel comfortable in some of the places in the city, but in other places not comfortable at all? Why do some cities have a rich public life in their public realm, while the public realm in other cities is abandoned and empty? How do you plan environments that support people?s physical and mental health? These are questions that I put to myself, and that people who are interested in or working with physical planning should ask themselves. That is why I have been studying an authority on the subject, the Danish Professor Jan Gehl, who has been researching and working with peoplefriendly public realms for 50 years. He is best known for his book Life between buildings that has been a text-book in the education of architects for more than 30 years, and to have initiated Copenhagens most famous pedestrian street, Strøget, to show his theory of how people will use the public realm, if it?s only got the right qualities.

Med anledning av ett antal redovisningsskandaler i början av 2000-talet har revisorers oberoendeställning gentemot klientföretagen kommit att diskuteras. I USA väcktes därför frågan om ett införande av revisorsrotation alternativt byrårotation. På grund av bristande erfarenhet inom området ansåg den amerikanska kongressen att beslut om byrårotation inte kunde fattas och således infördes endast revisorsrotation. I samband med detta införande fick U.S Government Accountability Office (GAO) i uppdrag att, genom en kvantitativ studie i form av enkätundersökning, undersöka vilka potentiella effekter ett införande av byrårotation skulle få på de amerikanska publika företagen.  Med utgångspunkt i den av GAO genomförda undersökning utformades denna uppsats för att på liknande sätt undersöka de potentiella effekterna av ett eventuellt införande av obligatorisk byrårotation i Sverige. Uppsatsens syfte bygger på att undersöka hur CFO:n, eller motsvarande befattningshavare, på samtliga företag noterade på Nasdaq OMX Stockholm ser på förslaget om ett införande av obligatorisk byrårotation, samt vilka för- och nackdelarna anses vara.

In 2006 there was a change in LMA (1994:37) that clarified the division of responsibility be-tween the Migration Board and the municipalities, concerning unaccompanied children. The social services should now be utmost responsible for the housing and care of these children, to assure that they gain the same standards and rights as all other children. The aim of this essay has been to examine how the division of responsibility has influenced the work of the social services and how they interpret their responsibility for the unaccompanied children. How do the social services investigate and make decisions concerning these children? Do these chil-dren have the same rights as other children? To answer these questions a legal study was made, followed by qualitative research interviews with four social services that receive unac-companied children.

This essay deals with the industrial past, present and future and begins with the impact and importance the industrial revolution has had on us humans, socially, economically and structurally. Today's society has developed from industrial production of goods to the production of services but the industrial sites remains. The essay examines issues concerning the protection of the industrial environment, their status as a cultural heritage, what is done with our industrial heritage and the opportunities it has for the future. Malmö has a great industrial history and now one of the cities oldest industrial sites, the north of Sorgenfri, will be transformed. The essay compares the plan with guidelines for future development from the Town Building Office with an antiquarian investigation for the same area.

Detta arbete berör kunskaper och frågor kring hur vi använder och har använt oss av landsbygden som bo- och arbetsplats, samt hur dess karaktär och gestaltning upplevs och påverkas av utveckling och ett förändrat användande. Genom ortsanalyser på två mindre landsbygdsorter i Karlskrona kommun registreras och karaktäriseras landsbygdens särdrag, upplevda kvalitéer och begränsningar. Inventering och analys sker genom ortsanalysmetoden Estetisk Byutformning, framtagen av Thomas Thiis-Evensen, samt genom samtal med boende där tankar och upplevelser sammanställs i en mental karta. Adekvat forskning, skriftliga källor, strategier och kommunala planer studeras och skapar tillsammans med analysresultaten en bas för framtida utveckling och gestaltning av landsbygdens bebyggelse. Utifrån insamlat material skapas riktlinjer för framtida komplettering av bebyggelse, dessa i form av utvecklingsprinciper med syfte att bevara och utveckla landsbygdens agrara karaktär. Med dessa utvecklingsprinciper som utgångspunkt föreslås sedan ett planförslag med gestaltningsprogram för bostadsutveckling på västra Möcklö, beläget vid Karlskrona kommuns östra kust..

This paper discusses animal welfare, and Sweden, as an EU member state, has a responsibility toensure that official animal welfare inspections are carried out in accordance with communityregulations. The first of January 2009, the welfare moved from the municipalities in to the 21county administrative boards. This restructuring was made due to the deficiencies that the auditconducted by the EU of the FVO (Food and Veterinary Office) 2003 found in the Swedishsystem. Sweden failed in coordination and inspection to ensure animal welfare.The aim of this examination paper is to shed light on animal welfare work operated in the countyof Halland and in Sweden in general. The paper focuses on a few questions.

Bakgrund: Idag finns det en uppsjö av informationskällor med kost- och hälsobudskap som man utsätts för både frivilligt och ofrivilligt. Det finns också många olika åsikter gällande vilken kost som är bra och mindre bra för kroppen och hälsan. Studier har visat att bland annat statliga myndigheter, media och förebilder kan påverka inställningen till intag av vissa komponenter i kosten. Det är en intressant fråga vad man anser vara en pålitlig källa till kostinformation och vilka av dessa som används mest.Syfte: Syftet med studien är att undersöka vilka de mest använda källorna till kostinformation är samt hur deras trovärdighet upplevs av individer som tränar på gym i åldern 18-28 år.Metod: En kvantitativ enkätstudie med 123 deltagare genomfördes. Enkäten innehöll ett attitydformulär om hur man ställer sig till olika källor om kostinformation.

This Bachelor thesis deals with the act of the British Labour Party when they recalled a referendum promised by former Prime Minister Tony Blair. Tony Blair promised a referendum on the Constitutional Treaty, but his successor Gordon Brown later recalled it when the Lisbon Treaty succeeded the Constitutional Treaty as the legal foundation of the European Union.The main purpose of this thesis was to with help from various theorethical frameworks explain why the Labour Party decided to do this, even if this decision gave the main opposition party, the Conservative and Unionist Party (the Tories), the chance to heavily critisize the Labour Party, and picture them as traitors.The research questions were:? What are the reasons that the Labour Party went from being a Eurosceptical party, to become more pro-European?? Why did the Labour Party cancel the promised referendum on the new treaty of the European Union?Various answers were found for the first research question. Among the most important was that it was a part of the over all transition which led to the launch of New Labour.The second research question was answered with three explanatory models based on actions of the Labour Party on three arenas; the electoral arena (based on power, this model claims that the Labour Party act as they do because the know the Tories would not act differently if they were in office), the parliamentary arena (based on ideology, this model claims that Labour want the Lisbon Treaty because it has a stronger social dimension than earlier treaties) and the internal arena (based on the problem of identification, this model claims that the Labour Party identifies itself with the British government, and not just the voters, and are afraid of damaging Britain?s influence in the EU and international politics if Britain says ?no? to the Lisbon Treaty)..

Coastal areas are popular for housing, both for permanent living and holiday houses. At the same time, thin sediments and small storage capacity in the bedrock makes the ground water resources limited. The limited ground water resources combined with too large withdrawals of ground water makes salt water intrusion a problem in many coastal areas. This study examine the risk of salt water intrusion in drinking water supplying wells on the island Södra Finnö in S:t Anna archipelago, Östergötland, Sweden. A calculation of the relation between ground water recharge and withdrawal is obtained to analyze the ground water balance in the area.

The thesis aims to compare differentpiping materials in heating systems interms of cost as well as to illustratethe impact of energy characteristics ofdifferent materials over its servicelife. The methods used for costcalculations regarding piping are alsoto be examined to highlight thedifferences between template basedcalculations and more carefully executedones. The work is delimited to discusspipes of steel, copper, plastics andcomposites. The aim is that the resultcan be compiled to illustrate the prosand cons of various materials whenevaluating investments.The main object of the survey is part ofa heating system in the office-block KVSommaren located in southern Stockholm.The configured piping system is designedwith the mentioned piping materials andis used to make up the data for flow andcost calculations. The differentmaterials are calculated in both aconventional manner with a supplementarycost for additional fittings and with amore accurate quantification of thecomponents.

The purpose of this study is to, based on qualitative interviews with managers and group interviews with care providers, understand their interpretation of integrity and also their scope for action to satisfy disable people?s integrity at sheltered housing for adults. The questions of this study are: How do the managers and the care providers interpret the concept of integrity? Which scope for action do they have to satisfy the integrity of disabled people? Method: Individual ? and group interviews have been used as methods to gather empirical data. Theory: The theories of scope for action and integrity as a theoretical conception have been used to analyze the empirical material.

Tullkammarkajen är idag ett hamn- och industriområde beläget vid ån Nissan i Halmstad. Det utmärkta läget i staden med närhet till både centrum, järnvägsstation och vatten gör området synnerligen attraktivt. Men med dagens markanvändning utnyttjas inte kvaliteterna fullt ut. Utmaningen består därför i att planera ett nytt bostadsområde med en trivsam utemiljö och en kaj som är öppen för allmänheten. Den nya stadsdelen, Tullkammarkajen, får ett blandat innehåll men med en dominans av bostäder. Viss etablering av handel, kontor och service ökar attraktiviteten och ger liv och rörelse i området.

The aim of this study was twofold; firstly it sought to describe the human security situation of Roma IDPs and IDPs living in collective centers, secondly it tried to create an understanding for how the human security situation can affect IDPs capabilities to develop. The findings of the study were mainly based on a field study conducted in Belgrade, Serbia for two months. The results of the study were that IDPs in collective centers have a poor human security situation regarding basic income, employment, adequate housing and experienced personal security. Roma IDPs suffer from the same insecurities, but in addition also has poor human security in basic education and personal safety. Their stagnant human security situation proved to be the result of the inability to help IDPs by the actors involved in the relief work.

När kraven från omvärlden ökar hittar organisationer nya sätt att vara såväl det mest effektiva som det mest legitima företaget. Detta gäller gentemot kunder, anställda, konkurrenter och samhället i stort. Syftet med denna kandidatuppsats är att med hjälp av nyinstitutionell teori undersöka hur ett kommunalt bostadsbolag jobbar med arbetsmiljö. Fokus ligger på att belysa hur arbetsmiljöarbetet samverkar med legitimitetsskapande faktorer, exempelvis standardisering av arbetsmiljöarbetet. Kandidatuppsatsen är en kvalitativ studie och utgörs av dokumentstudier samt intervjuer.

I DAG RÅDER ETT STORT OMVANDLINGSTRYCK på de före detta industriområdena längs inloppet till Stockholm och Mälarens stränder. Dessa platser utgör attraktiva tomter för bostadsbyggande och många områden har byggts om eller är under omvandling. Ett av dessa är Lövholmen vid Liljeholmen. Här finner man idag bland annat Beckers hundraåriga fabriksanläggning med avsevärda kultur- historiska värden. EXAMENSARBETET HAR LETT FRAM till ett planförslag som visar på hur en kommande förtätning av planområdet kan utformas. Förslaget grundas i inventerings- och analys-resultat samt på tidigare ställningstaganden från bland annat Stockholms stadsbyggnadskontor. PLANFÖRSLAGET INNEBÄR I STORA DRAG att områdets be-varandevärda bebyggelse utgör stommen och ny samtida bebyggelse införs i medveten kontrast.
