The purpose of this paper is to examine what problems cabbage growers have with the Swede Midge. The last few years the Swede Midge, Contarinia nasturtii, has become a larger problem for cabbage growers in several countries in Europe as well as in Sweden. In Canada the problems are so severe that the midge is classified as a quarantine pest and therefore certain rules have to be followed. I have collected facts of the biology, Host plants and reproduction of the Swede Midge, as well as the growers experiences and the occurrence of the midge in Canada, Europe and Sweden. The Swede Midge is hard to control because of its short life cycle and the larvae are protected between the heartleaves of the plant. When the larva feeds on the growth point the plant becomes distorted, in some cases several heads develop or none at all. When the midge infests spring rape its flower buds become undeveloped and rosette like.

Stem rust, Puccinia graminis, has caused enormous yield losses throughout history which have had significant consequences for oat and wheat production. Today in Sweden stem rust is only reported from rye, oats and wild grasses. We have chosen to study how LHC (Linkoping Hockey Club) works with marketing in order to improve the overall customer experience.

The quest to determine if non-human animals have emotional lives similar to man goes a long way back and is yet to result in a clear answer. The aim of this particular literature study is to determine whether or not the African elephant may Host feelings of empathy and display altruistic behaviour. In search for an answer to this question, scientists have chosen to first evaluate the cognitive abilities of said species. They have done this through the testing of tool use, mirror self-recognition, memory and the ability to coordinate with another when performing a task etc. It is generally thought, that in order for complex emotion to exist within an individual, cognition, as an awareness of the self and others, must first be present.

The competition between the Swedish municipalities has increased as the world has become more globalized, which means that they need to become more attractive for sustaining sound finances and not to find themselves to have a downward trend. One possibility to show the attractiveness of a place is by using place marketing and therewith attaining a stronger brand position. There are 20 suburban municipalities in the county of Stockholm, of which six are multicultural or are having a minimum of 20 percent immigrants among the residents. These immigrant areas are segregated based on class, income and culture. Problems associated with these areas have historical aspects that dates further back than modern immigration does.

Nematodes are perhaps the most common animals in the world. Nematode populations can reach densities up to several millions per square meter in the soil. There are many factors which affect nematode communities in arable soil with respect to diversity and population size. Factors like tillage, crop, fertilization, nutrient status and moisture in the soil all have an impact on soil biology and in this way also have effects on the nematode community. This study is based on three different parts, soil samples taken in March 2012 and March 2013, soil samples taken monthly during the growth season of 2013 in bare fallow plots and a pot experiment.

Denna litteraturstudie undersöker vilka immunogena strukturer som har betydelse för utveckling av ett skyddande förvärvat immunsvar mot ekvint infektiöst anemivirus (EIAV). Ekvin infektiös anemi (EIA) är en virussjukdom som drabbar hästdjur. Den kännetecknas av ett förlopp med periodiska viremier Symtomen som ses i samband med viremi orsakas av proinflammatoriska cytokiner från det medfödda immunsvaret. Värden blir vanligtvis asymtomatisk inom ett år efter infektion, därefter fortsätter individen att vara persistent infekterad under resten av livet. EIAV kan överföras via kanyler eller blodsugande vektorer (bromsar och stallflugor) som intar blod från hästar med viremi. Virus från blodet på insektens mundelar förs ut i cirkulationen när den biter en ny häst. Viruset infekterar och replikerar i makrofager, vilket leder till att vävnader som har rikligt med makrofager har höga virustitrar, även om halterna varierar med infektionsfas och virulens hos virusstammen. Ett cellmedierat förvärvat immunsvar förmodas vara en mycket viktig faktor för att begränsa virusreplikationen under den akuta fasen.

EU har utropat år 2012 som Europaåret för aktivt åldrande och solidaritet mellan generationerna. Under det här året kommer fokusering ske mot de äldre generationerna i vårt samhälle. Detta kommer man att göra i Sverige genom att belysa och ta upp frågor om hur samhället går att anpassa för de äldre. I Sverige finns det en växande grupp äldre och målet är att se till att dessa människor ska kunna känna sig säkra och självständiga. Det är viktigt för människor att känna att de är viktiga och att de bidrar till samhället.Statistik visar att (De Courcy, 2011) äldre föredrar att bo kvar i sina gamla bostäder.
