The study's starting point is the cultural, economic, social and health which is relevant when different levels of society affirms. The aim has been the basis of the representation levels of society discern what is valued and given priority as well as the measures and the strategies used in implementation. The empirical data underlying the study is qualitative studies with respondents from a university, a Hospital, a school, the Swedish Embassy and an organization in order to create an image of different levels in society means to implement preventive measures on HIV and AIDS to their citizens. The result demonstrates that there are clear shortcomings in its implementation guidance on prevention measures for HIV and AIDS as lack of resources is based.

Bakgrund: Sjuksköterskor bär ansvaret för omvårdnadsarbetet med patienterna och förväntas agera adekvat i såväl vardagliga som komplexa situationer. För att klara av dessa situationer har de olika verktyg att använda sig av för att exempelvis kontrollera vitalparametrar samt underlätta kommunikationen. Studier visar att sjuksköterskor upplever att det är viktigt med god kommunikation och bra samarbete när patienter ska flyttas över från intensivvårdsavdelningar till vårdavdelningar.Syfte: Syftet var att beskriva sjuksköterskors upplevelser av övertagandet och omvårdnaden av patienter från intensivvårdsavdelningar samt att undersöka om sjuksköterskorna upplever att något skulle kunna förbättras.Metod: Studien genomfördes via en kvalitativ intervjustudie med deskriptiv design. Intervjuerna bestod av semi-strukturerade frågor och insamlad data analyserades med hjälp av kvalitativ innehållsanalys.Resultat: Deltagarnas upplevelser kring övertagandet och omvårdnaden av patienterna skiljde sig och påverkades bland annat av erfarenhet. En känsla av osäkerhet, främst hos de mindre erfarna, förekom ofta inför övertagandet.

AbstractIntroductionOccurrence of bacteraemia and fungemia is a serious condition with high mortality and the incidence is increasing worldwide. The aim of this study was to survey the occurrence of bacteria and fungi in blood cultures from adult patients domiciled in the county of Gävleborg during one year and also to calculate the incidence and mortality in the same geographical area.MethodThis is a descriptive epidemiologic study, based on all episodes of blood cultures analyzed at the Microbiology laboratory, Gävle Hospital during 2005. Patients from 20 years of age, domiciled in the county of Gävleborg at the date of drawing the blood culture, where included in the study. Criteria of exclusion were negative blood cultures and cultures which were classified as contaminants.ResultsAltogether there were 4 564 blood cultures analyzed, resulting in 524 (11 %) positive cultures for further study. There were 442 patients (48 % women) involved in 499 episodes with confirmed bacteraemia or fungemia.

Bakgrund: I dagens samhälle pågår ständiga debatter om genus i olika kontexter, diskussionen om exempelvis löneskillnader, barnuppfostran och vårdande utifrån genus är närvarande i media, i såväl TV som tidningar och på internet. Studier har visat på att kvinnor och män uppfattar vårdande olika samt har olika preferenser för hur vårdandet skall utformas ? sjuksköterskor bör därför vara genusmedvetna i mötet med patienten för att kunna ge genuskänsligt vårdande utifrån en personcentrerad utgångspunkt.Syfte: Syftet med denna uppsats är att beskriva patienters uppfattningar av vårdande ? ur ett genusperspektiv.Metod: Detta arbete har genomförts som en litteraturöversikt och har baserats på 14 stycken vetenskapliga artiklar som har analyserats med en kvalitativ designmetod. Arbetet är förankrat med utgångspunkt i Katie Erikssons teori om vårdande.Resultat: Resultatet utgörs av tre teman; (a) Kvinnor och mäns förväntningar samt önskemål för vårdande, (b) När förväntningar och önskemål ej tillgodoses samt (c) När förväntningar och önskemål tillgodoses. Olikheter mellan könen gällande uppfattningar av vårdande framkom främst vid missnöje.

Two haematological instruments intended for small animal clinic use were evaluated at the Department of Clinical Chemistry, Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU), Uppsala, Sweden. The QBC-V and Vet abc were compared to a reference instrument, the Cell-Dyn 3500. Fresh blood samples were obtained from canine and feline patients from the University Veterinary Hospital, SLU. The QBC-V was used for 111 canine samples and 78 canine blood samples were analysed with Vet abc. From cats, 23 samples were analysed with both instruments.

The high incidence of cranial cruciate ligament injury in dogs results in both suffering and significant costs due to treatment and care of affected dogs. Today there are several different technics for surgical treatment in dogs with ruptured cranial cruciate ligament. At University Animal Hospital (UDS), SLU, in Uppsala two fundamentally different methods; TPLO (Tibial Plateau Leveling Osteotomy) and external fixation with suture material are practiced. The aim of this study was to estimate if the different surgery technics result in any difference regarding the function of the dog in a long term perspective. Since motion and function are very affected by arthritis, was the purpose also to determine if there are any differences in developing arthritis between dogs surgical treated with external fixation respectively with TPLO. Development of arthritis is common after surgery or traumatic injuries in a joint, such as cruciate ligament rupture. Unfortunately was the number of dogs in the study to small to achieve two comparable groups.
