Syfte. Syftet med studien var att beskriva sjuksköterskans erfarenhet av att befrämja patienters sömn ur ett omvårdnadsperspektiv.Bakgrund. Sömn är ett tillstånd som befinner sig utanför den medvetna kontrollen och ses som en viktig del av livet. Människan vet av erfarenhet att sömnen är ett stort behov och utan sömn en längre tid förändras våra beteenden, vår förmåga att koncentrera oss minskar, temperamentet ändrar sig och handlingsförmågan avtar. Tidigare forskning har visat att patienter inneliggande på sjukhus ofta klagar på sömnstörningar.Metod.

Organisationer har flera chefsnivåer, på en av dessa befinner sig mellanchefen, även kallad linjechef. I stora drag innebär denna roll ett ansvar över personal på operativ nivå samt ansvar att implementera ledningens beslut. Då vi i litteratur och i tidigare genomförda studier funnit att rollen som mellanchef kan vara påfrestande, då speciellt i offentlig sektor, är det av vårt intresse att undersöka arbetsförhållanden för mellanchefer med fokus på personalhantering.Denna studie syftar till att svara på hur mellanchefer på sjukhus upplever och ser på hantering av konflikter. Genom djupintervjuer av ett antal avdelningschefer har en kvalitativ undersökning genomförts. Utifrån det insamlade materialet kan tre centrala slutsatser urskiljas.

ABSTRACT The persons whom the authorized nurse encounters in Hospital wards and nursing homes are in great extent elderly persons. According to Wasserman (2000), about 30 to 40 percent among these, show signs of depression. To be aware of the signs of depression, and how an authorized nurse can support the patient is therefore of great value. The introduction to this study describes the symptoms of depression and how depression in elders is expressed. It also describes treatment possibilities and nursing aspects of concern.

Introduction:Children in early age diagnosed with scoliosis and in need of surgery will grow up to undergo several operations in the back. Parents play a major role in the care of their children during Hospitalization.Purpose:The purpose of this study was to investigate parents´ experiences of having a child diagnosed with scoliosis before the age of five undergoing repeated surgeries in the back.Method:The study had a qualitative descriptive design. Five parents with children aged 5-15 years, who have undergone several operations were interviewed about there experiences of the child?s illness and treatment. Phenomenological-hermeneutical analyze where used.Results:The parents felt a sense of shock when they were told about their child?s diagnose and treatment.

This report is about planning a demolition. The purpose of this report is that it should become a base for a demolition of house J at the Academic Hospital in Uppsala, and also to make general help for planning a demolition. This report also contains a part about how a change in the work environment affects general people. The work started with studies of literature and design of the general part of the report and then continued with a practical study of house J. From the experience of the first two parts of the report a general help for planning a demolition was shaped.

To sort, is the meaning of the word ?triage?. Triage is used at emergency departments to facilitate prioritization of patients according to the urgency of the chief complaint. The aim of this study was to investigate how the nurses experience the triage model at the emergency department at Uppsala university Hospital.Twelve nurses were interviewed. The mean age was 40 years and the mean work experience was three years and four months.

Hemsjukvårdscentralen began its work from Tunåsens Hospital in Uppsala in 1962, with the purpose to give conomic support to people who nursed their chronic sick relatives in home. Hemsjukvårdscentralen ended its work in 1987, and delivered its archive to the County council of Uppsala in 1988. About half of the archive consisted of medical records of the patients who had received economical support, and many of the archival records was considered as ?work papers?, non-archival records that could be discarded. Two obvious problems emerge from the organizing of the records.

ABSTRACTIn an intermediate section at a large university Hospital are patients with subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH) cared for. There are international, national and local guidelines how nutrition therapy should be implemented and how much energy each patient should be given when Hospitalized. The purpose of this study was to examine the documentation and actions on nutrition in patients with SAH and to see if guidelines on nutrition were followed. The study was a quantitative, retrospective record review that was analyzed statistically and descriptive. 26 patients were included.

Background:Alzheimer's disease is a disease that primarily affects the elderly but also younger people. Alzheimer's disease is a type of dementia which means that you get changes in the cerebral cortex and cells gradually die. The disease causes memory loss and things that were obvious before will be difficult for the sufferer. Alzheimer's disease also affects next of kin to a large degree; they will have to take a great responsibility. The next of kin are entitled to support from healthcare.Aim:The aim was to highlight next of kin' experiences of healthcare to their family members with Alzheimer's disease.Method: The study was based on narratives, which in this case means analysis of autobiographies.

The public health care sector has come under increasing pressure to cut down costs, maximize productivity and satisfy patients' needs during the 1990s and onwards. As a way of "getting more for less" quality management has been introduced. Originating in the private manufacturing industry, quality management has a strong focus on productivity and efficiency, aspects which are measured in quantitative terms. However, there are strong concerns that quality management is a means of speeding up the marketization of public health care by introducing core values much different from the ethic and medical norms that traditionally underpin health care organizations.This essay focuses on how quality management has been introduced to, and transformed by, public health care. A theoretical framework based on new institutionalism is constructed, and translation theories are used as a way of illustrating how the medical institutional environment, in fact, changes the concept of quality management.

ABSTRACTAim: The aim of this study was to examine differences in the documentation of the case incident reports, before (FRP) and after (FRE) the introduction of a quality standard for fall prevention in the geriatric departments at a Swedish University Hospital. Method: 51 fall incident reports were collected before the introduction of quality standards for fall prevention and 63 after. Differences in documentation between the fall incident reports were analyzed with a Chi-2 test. Results: Number of case incidents in which the use of the alarm mat was documented increased after the introduction of quality standards for fall prevention and documented use of shoes and walker decreased. The majority of all documented case incidents occurred inside the patient room according to both FRP and FRE.

Enligt WHO (2012) ska förlossningsvård innebära att kvinnan ska kunna föda sitt barn på ett säkert och tryggt sätt. Hon ska kunna känna att hon får en säker vård och bli omhändertagen. För att den födande kvinnan ska få en positiv förlossningsupplevelse har kontinuerligt stöd visat sig vara av ytterska vikt. Syftet med denna tvärsnittsstudie var att undersöka kvinnors upplevelser av förlossningsvården i Göteborg och se om det fanns några skillnader i förlossningsvården på Sahlgrenska Universitetssjukhuset/Östra och Sahlgrenska Universitetssjukhuset Mölndal. Mätinstrumentet KUPP (Kvalitet Ur Patientens Perspektiv) som modifierats för att passa förlossningssjukvården användes.

The aim of this bachelor thesis is to find out how a number ofHospital librarians look at child and youth patients' reading and itspossible role in a mental and physical healing process. We alsoinvestigate the knowledge, strategies and thoughts the librarianshave on bibliotherapy.Qualitative interviews have been used and seven librarians, at twodifferent Hospital libraries with children's and youth activities, wereinterviewed during November and December 2011. The analysis isbased on one theory; we use Sten Furhammar?s model whichincludes four different categories of reading.We can see, according to the librarians? answers, that the mostcommon function of the patients? reading can be explained throughtwo of Furhammar?s categories. Our respondents believe that thepatients mostly read to relax from heavy thoughts and situationswhich can be connected to the category impersonal experiencereading.

 Pain is common among women undergoing first trimester surgical abortions. At the postoperative unit, department of gynaecology, University Hospital, Uppsala, the goal is that 80 % of the women should rate pain as £ 3 on a numeric rating scale (NRS), when leaving the unit.The aim of the study was to investigate how rating was performed at the unit and to investigate patient?s perceptions of pain after having undergone first trimester surgical abortion.20 patients (74%) participated in the study. Ninety percent of the patients rated their pain as NRS £ 3 when leaving the unit. Seven patients (35 %) rated their pain as NRS > 3 directly after operation, and 2 (10 %) patients NRS > 3 when leaving the unit.
