Assassin?s Creed 2 : - En analys av spelets historiebruk och dess skapande av historiemedvetande

This essay analyses the use of History in the video game Assassin's Creed 2. How have the developers used History in their game? The paper also analyses how the game can stimulate, arouse and mobilize the historical consciousness of the player. The essay presents a theoretical analysis of the uses of History and historical consciousness. This analysis is then linked with the results.

Att levandegöra historia : En undersökning om att använda Stockholms Stadsmuseums historia i historieundervisningen

The purpose of this paper has been to shed light on the ways the History represented at the City Museum of Stockholm can be used in education at the Gymnasia level. I have made use of the following set of questions to attain this purpose: 1) How is the City Museum's activity vis-á-vis the gymnasia organized and what is the purpose of this activity? 2) What positive results do the interviewees see in the collaboration between the schools and the Museum? 3) Why did the teachers represented in this paper choose to make use of the Museum in their education? The bulk of the study is based upon three interviews with the First Curator at the City Museum of Stockholm and two teachers, from Viola Gymnasiet and Skogsgårds Gymnasiet respectively. My method is qualitative and interpretative with hermeneutic features.In my interpretation of the source material I have made use of historian Klas-Göran Karlsson's classifications regarding the needs for various forms of History, use of History, users and functions of results. In this way I have been able to establish how the Museum and the teachers represented in the study make use of the History that is represented at the Museum.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the tendencies among pupils concerning their attitudes towards History and some of the stated goals in the present and in the proposed course plan of History, since there is, probably, a change coming in 2011. The study is built on questionnaires answered by one hundred pupils at a Swedish upper-secondary-school. The results point to the fact that most of these pupils like History, but still they do not wish to make it an obligatory subject, which is a government proposal at the moment. Furthermore, the answers about sources, democracy, the use of History and the consciousness about History, have a clear tendency; there have been too little education about these areas during the pupils former nine years in school, still the pupils think that these are important areas to work with. Moreover, this study shows a disheartening picture when it comes to pupils knowledge of their cultural heritage. Only half of the pupils know which century Gustav Vasa lived in and just a third know what year universal suffrage was introduced in Sweden, two facts that ought to be set in most Swedes? mind..

Historielärobokens användning : En studie om gymnasielärares användning av historieläroboken.

The aim of this thesis is to examine how secondary teachers in the subject of History are using the textbook in their teaching. Four questions are being dealt with in this thesis. What importance is being placed on the use of History textbooks by the secondary teachers? What priorities do the secondary teachers have? How do they deal with student interests? And what is the importance of the secondary teachers? work experience? I have interviewed four secondary teachers with different work experience to complete this thesis. A Dictaphone has been used in all the interviews. Research has shown that textbooks now have a central role in teaching and the lack of alternative materials and reduction of teaching hours has made it difficult to replace. The main conclusions of the thesis are that the History textbook has a dual role depending on the teacher you ask, and that the History book is used differently by the teachers.

Den viktiga historien : Historiesyn och historiemedvetande i studentexamensuppsatser från åren 1877 och 1929.

The purpose of this thesis is to identify and analyse the view and consciousness of History present in essays written by Swedish high school students in 1877 and 1929. A theoretical framework was established in order to accomplish this, based on the theories of Peter Aronsson and Jörn Rüsen (through Lars Andersson Hult) that defines consciousness of History through a matrix that expresses a progression as well as a scaling complexity. Furthermore, the theories of Knut Kjelstadli and Magnus Hermansson Adler were adopted to establish two different types of view of History: one adhering to a view of History where groups and individuals are seen as integral to the progression of History, and the other explains historical process through more functional explanations, such as dependant on cultural and social structures.This framework erects ideal-types of different types of view and consciousness of History, and the thesis at hand strives to categorise the different kinds of view and consciousness of History found in the studied essays in accordance with these ideal-types through two different models based on the above mentioned theories.The findings presented here largely point to a view of History that is largely centered on an actor-oriented view of History, where individuals such as kings and generals are given a central position when historical events are being narrated, and is present in both 1877 and 1929, with some shifting nuances. As for the consciousness of History the lion part of the analysed texts can be seen adhering to a more traditional type of consciousness in 1877, although a slight shift can be seen towards a more complex type of consciousness in the texts from 1929..

Att se sig själv som en del i ett större perspektiv : En analys av skolämnet historia i Lgr 69, Lgr 80 och Lpo 94.

In this essay, I intent to examine History as a school subject in Swedish compulsory school (for children aged 7-16), it contains mostly an analysis of the syllabus for History in the three latest curriculums Lgr 69, Lgr 80 and Lpo 94. The main purpose of the essay is to illuminate the development and the change History as a subject has gone through during this specific time, and my will is also to illustrate the view on knowledge and learning that is revealed in the syllabus for History in today?s curriculum (Lpo 94).The survey shows that in Swedish compulsory school, History as a subject has changed significantly. During the examined years, the contents have been exceptionally broadened and that has lead to increasing demands on the students as it has gone from being directed to the individual and its contiguous History with shorter outlooks on the rest of the world, to requiring the individual to be able to see and understand other parts of the world and different time, on the basis of it?s own History and culture.

En tung historia : En undersökning om metalbandet Sabatons historiebruk.

The purpose of this paper has been to examine the heavy metal band Sabatons use of History and to relate it to societal trends in today?s Sweden. I have examined Sabatons music, album covers and music videos in order to define a certain use of History. To do this I have used a use of History theory and a heavy metal theory. My results showed that some of Sabatons use of History could be defined as commercial and that the societal trends in today`s Sweden have in some cases affected the selection and presentation of events and characters that`s been portrayed by Sabaton.

Historiska Bakverk vol. II - ett arbete om bakverk ur ett historiskt, kulturellt och estetiskt perspektiv

?Historiska Bakverk? is a project about different pastries from a historiacal perspective.The goal was to create illustrations and typography inspired by differentpastries, in order to communicate something about their History and what layunderneath. The project aimed to highlight, understand and acknowlage thepastries as an important part of our History and cultural heritage. Importantquestions I have dealt with throughout the project was in what way the pastriestell us about our History, how it has changed them through time. The result, aseries of posters for croissant, doughnut and pretzel, are a combination of boththeir History and my own experience of them.

The purpose of this master's thesis is to examine how a Swedish public library's collection of books on African History looks like, who the writers are and how Africa and its History areportrayed. The focus of the analysis is on the front and back covers and in some cases on theinformation texts inside the books. The chosen library is the city library of Umeå. The 15books examined were found on the shelf classified as Kp ? the classification for African History according to the Swedish SAB-classification system.
