AbstractThe author Selma Lagerlöf was born in 1858 at Mårbacka, in Värmland and died in 1940. Fifty years after Selma´s death were her correspondence released and ten thousand of letters were found in the collection. But it was just the correspondence between Selma and Sofie Elkan who interested people because they wanted to know if Selma and Sofie have had a sexual relationship. Later, in time for Christmas 2008 the Swedish Television shows a film about Selma. "Selma Lagerlöf Society" was critical to the movie and thougt that the movie focused too much on Selma`s sexual orientation.

Swedish studies concerning children?s reading habits show that detective stories have become more popular in recent years. The aim of this bachelor?s thesis is to examine how the gender system is described in four detective stories written for children at the age of 9 to 13 years. Our main question is: How is the gender system reflected in the four selected detective stories for children? We also pose the question: How are femininity and masculinity described? Our study is based on three theories.

The aim of this bachelor?s thesis is to investigate what role the public library in Sweden may have when it comes to gender equality issues. The questions at issue that were asked, in order to give an answer to the aim, was how the librarians defined and saw work with equality, how much the steering documents for the library impact and what they are doing in their practice to weaken the dichotomies between the sexes. The theoretical starting point used for this study is three concepts, the gender system, the stereotypes and the gender contract described by the Swedish historian Yvonne Hirdman. The purpose of the three concepts is that gender is a social construction which produces gender stereotypes and a gender order in society, which the library is a part of.

The aim of this Masters thesis is to examine how the image of the girl and her environment in the Swedish youth literature has changed during the 1980s to the 2000s. We have focused on how the girls creates gender in fiction. The introduction chapter in this essay covers a short history over Swedish youth literature and how the Swedish youth culture has developed, followed by a description of how the girl in the real world relates to gender. The books we have chosen are written by Swedish authors and the plot partakes in Sweden with female protagonists. We decided to do a close-reading of the novels and analyse them by an analytical model, consisting of several questions.

Föreliggande uppsats syftar till att undersöka heterosexuella arbetarklassmäns föreställningar om och attityder gentemot homosexuella mäns och kvinnors genusöverskridande. Eventuella föreställningar och negativa attityder kring detta innefattas i begreppet homofobi som titeln antyder att uppsatsen handlar om. Dessa aspekter av homofobi kopplas i sin tur till maskulinitetsskapandet inom en specifik klassmässig kontext. Empirin består av intervjuer med fem män inom denna klassmässiga kontext. Materialet har analyserats med hjälp av Faircloughs version av den kritiska diskursanalysen och tolkats utifrån teorier om genus, sexualitet, maskulinitet och klass från bland andra Yvonne Hirdman, Judith Butler, Michael Kimmel, R.W Connell, och Pierre Bourdieu.

Enligt jämställdhetslagen skall varje arbetsgivare med fler än tio anställda utforma en jämställdhetsplan och arbeta aktivt för en jämställd arbetsplats. Vi fick i uppdrag av Skara kommun att mäta deras anställdas attityder till den jämställdhetsplan de har upprättat eftersom de har haft svårt att få bra gehör för sin jämställdhetspolitik inom arbetsorganisationen. Syftet med uppsatsen är att genom en kvantitativ studie, i form av enkäter, kunna se om de anställdas attityder påverkar jämställdhetsarbetet samt ett delsyfte att se hur jämställdheten ser ut i organisationen utifrån de anställdas synvinkel. Den teoretiska referensram vi har utgått ifrån i vår analys är: Hirdman, Bernstein, Angelöw och Brante. Där vi tar upp könens sociala konstruktion och hur attityder formas.

The parental education groups are an activity that attracts the majority of all couples that awaits their first child. Therefore this is a forum with strong influence on the formulation of the parenting. The aim of the study was to examine how parental education within Swedish child health care, affects the construction and shaping of parenthood. We have also studied this from a gender perspective. The starting point for our understanding of parenting is that it is socially constructed.

Sofia Hedberg: "Wut is Wut?" En studie av maskuliniteter och sexualiteter inom hiphop-genren. Uppsala universitet: Institutionen för musikvetenskap. C-uppsats 15 hp. 2013.This essay examines how a group of male, homosexual or bisexual African-American rappers from New York City are challenging the norms of hypermasculinity and heteronormativity within the musical genre of hip-hop.

How do probation inspectors describe their female clients and female offenders? Are there any discrepancies in treatment between male and female clients? In what way is the social interaction between female clients and inspectors constructed and described?  These are the issues we have explored in this study. Qualitative semi-structured interviews with a total of nine probation inspectors; six women and three men, were used in order to examine the probation inspectors? constructions of clients and the construction of interaction between them. By applying Foucault?s theory of power relations, Hirdman?s gender theory and Olsson?s theory of preconceptions when analyzing the results five themes were identified; descriptions of the work of the female client, descriptions of the interaction with the female client, descriptions of the female offender, descriptions of backgrounds why women commit crimes and descriptions of society's view on the female offender.

Syftet med uppsatsen var att undersöka elevers attityder till litteratur i årskurs 9, i skolan och på fritiden. Metoden som användes var en undersökning där svaren har analyserats utifrån två olika genusteorier, Raewyn Connells teori om maskuliniteter och Yvonne Hirdmans teori om genuskontrakt. Analysen visar att det finns fyra olika kategorier av attityder till litteratur: den positiva pojken, den negativa pojken, den positiva flickan och den negativa flickan. I undersökningen framkom det inga attityder som var neutralt inställda till skönlitteratur. Analysen bygger på de resultat som eleverna gav sina svar i enkäten och detta har sedan analyserats. Det har då visat sig att eleverna försökte relatera till de olika regler och paragrafer i relation till sitt kön. Pojkarna försöker framför allt att forma sin egen maskulinitet. Diskussionen visar att eleverna kan ha bakomliggande problem som påverkar deras attityder till litteratur negativt.

I denna uppsats undersöks konstruktionen av ett förmodat nytt maskulinitetsideal kallet ?den nye mannen? i svensk medias rapportering av politiker. Uppsatsen har utgått ifrån teorier om genus och maskulinitetsteorier från bland annat R.W. Connell, Michael S. Kimmel och Yvonne Hirdman kombinerat med teorier om konstruktionen av ?den nye mannen? från Marie Nordberg.

Syftet med denna uppsats är att undersöka hur tidningen ?Nya Vi Föräldrar? framställer småbarnsföräldrar i utvalda reportage. Metoden för arbetet är kvalitativ innehållsanalys och visuell metod eftersom reportagen består av både text och bild. Analysen grundar sig på teorier från Anthony Giddens, Yvonne Hirdman och Erving Goffman. I analysarbetet har det vuxit fram olika teman som sedan har blivit mina specifika avsnitt.

This master?s thesis looks at discourses that use the pronoun ?hen?. The media debate in Sweden over this pronoun in 2012 started in connection with the publishing of a children?s picture book: Kivi och monsterhund, by Jesper Lundqvist and Bettina Jansson. The essay investigates how eight librarians, who take an interest in and work with gender issues, talk about the pronoun hen and about this picture book and other books that have characters which are not named as a sex/gender.The essay takes a discursive perspective on reality and on the construction of knowledge and carries out a discourse analysis of the librarians? talk in the qualitative interviews that were made for this study.

This study revolves around calculating the extent of appearance of both anonymously and named men and women as well as determining whether or not Yvonne Hirdman?s gender theory is applicable on two versions of a Swedish educational history textbook called Epos: historia: för gymnasieskolans kurs A (2008) and Epos [historia] 1b (2012), published for two different curriculum. Our qualitative investigation of two parts of the book?s content proves that the two principles of gender system are present in both books, although to a lesser extent in the latter version. Calculating the material, results have shown that anonymous men and women are almost equally presented in Epos 2012, which is not the case in the 2008 version.

The purpose of this master?s thesis is to see why there seem to be little interest in the management position at the public libraries. Since librarianship is a field that are proportionally dominated by women we chose to approach the study with a gender perspective. This study has excluded men and our main interest is the women?s point of view.
