This bachelor thesis in tourism studies focuses on people's use of social media related to travel. The paper aims to provide a wider knowledge of tourist?s propensity to display destinations through social media and how they perceive others that display travelling. This is put in relation to the term of social status in order to find out if there is a possible link. The intention was to provide an insight into the phenomenon to contribute new awareness that destinations can exploit in their marketing.

Objective: In recent years there has been an increasing interest within the clinical (medical) science in measuring people?s health. When estimating quality of life, present practise is to use the EQ-5D questionnaire and an index which weighs the different questions. The question is what happens if the individuals estimate there own health, would it differ from the public preferences? The aim is to make a new prediction model based on the opinion of patients and compare it to the present model based on public preferences.Method: A sample of 362 patients with unstable coronary artery disease from the Frisc II trial, valued their quality of life in the acute phase and after 3, 6 and 12 months.

Livsmedelsverkets matvaneundersökning Riksmaten bland vuxna 2010-11 visar att medelintaget av vitamin D i genomsnitt var 7,0 ?g/dag. Patienter med inflammatoriska tarmsjukdomar (IBD) har en högre risk för osteoporos på grund av medicinering med cortison samt brist på vitamin D.Syfte: Att undersöka om personer med IBD uppnår de nya höjda rekommendationerna gällande intag av vitamin D via maten och/eller kosttillägg och kosttillskott.

There are more and more elderly people and different diseases will affect them. How will the public care be able to face this need of care for the elderly? There are a lot that shows that there will be an increasing demand on the achievements of the relatives. How can this development be answered to? Shall the achievements be concentrated on giving support to the relatives, or will there be a concentration on nursing staff? The purpose of the study was to enlighten who elderly people will be nursed by if a disease affects them.

This study aims to investigate the domestic and work organization at the mansions located in the south of Västmanlands county years 1705-1849. The study takes into account the manors' size, ownership, owners' status and social changes. The study includes both large manors with noble owners and smaller manors with bourgeois owners.  The study examines how the households were formed, how they changed over time and how thet may have links to the Manor's ownership and size. The organization of labour is studied on the basis of how it changed over time and what it may have links to the owners ' status and the manors size. Background: The parent has a natural presence in today?s child health care and hospital treatment. The transition from home to a care institution has an impact on the parent. Previous research shows that over time the conditions and the parent?s role in child and youth health care have changed extensively.

Child health care in Sweden is today automatically informed of newborns in the district and itis therefore natural for the maternal and child health nurses to contact and invite the new family to the child welfare clinic. So far the social services in the studied county have not reported new adoptive families to the child welfare clinics; instead the families have to contact the clinic themselves. The aim of this study was to investigate how social services inform the child welfare clinics of new adoptive families. The aim was also to investigate how and when the maternal and child health nurse thinks that contact should be established and what information/knowledge she feels a need of in contact with new adoptive families. The study has a qualitative design and interviews have been conducted with social workers, a representative of an adoption agency and maternal and child health nurses working in child welfare clinics.

Våra resultat visar att kläder påverkar popularitet och status i ett komplext samspel med andra faktorer, såsom beteende och umgänge. Bullying and harassment is a common phenomenon that usually is associated with schools, but bullying among adults at workplaces is not as much discussed. Previous research shows that discrimination occurs in various social areas because of the individual's gender and ethnicity. Based on this there was a reason to suppose that bullying, which is a form of vulnerability, could also depend of belonging to a particular social category. The aim of this study was to get knowledge about the correlation between bullying at the workplace and concurrent collaboration of class, gender and ethnicity. The results of this quantitative study show that there is no correlation between the simultaneous interaction of gender, class and ethnicity towards bullying and harassment.

In this pilot study, we have investigated what the two biggest newspapers Aftonbladet and Dagens Nyheter, and the two largest union affiliated journals Lärartidningen/Lärarnastidning and Skolvärlden has written about teachers in their professional roles, and investigated if and whether their reporting has changed over time. In the study, we have also examined what the newspapers and the union affiliated journals emphasize as status enhancing and status lowering factors for the Swedish teaching staff. We have furthermore analyzed our material through Leif Mathiassons theoretical framework in the anthology Uppdrag Lärare ?En antologi om status, yrkesskicklighet och framtidsdrömmar, in which he describes the creation of the image of the school as a medial and political construction. To reinforce Mathiassons theoretical framework we have also presented and used the agenda theory, the gestalt theory and the priming theory in our concluding discussion.

Syftet med uppsatsen är att undersöka hur personer som identifierar sig som sao braphet song (transsexuella) i Thailand konstruerar identitet i vardagen. Uppsatsen utgår ifrån tre temaområden som rör (upplevelse av) kön, sexualitet och upplevelse av social status i samhället. Studien är utförd i Pattaya, Thailand under hösten 2007 och baseras på kvalitativa intervjuer tillsammans med observationer. Materialet tolkas med hjälp av teorier om socialkonstruktionism, postkolonial teori och genusperspektiv.Materialet visar på den komplexa situation som transsexuella befinner sig i då de ständigt måste kämpa emot ett heteronormativt utanförskap. Genom performativa handlingar skapar deltagarna i studien kön och sexualitet, och i många fall är berättelserna fyllda av motsägelsefullhet.

Approximately one third of all patients in primary care have a psychosocial component to their illness that requires adequate professional treatment. However, primary care is insufficiently prepared for these patients. The aim of this case-study was to evaluate a pilot project in primary care offering psychotherapy as a treatment alternative. The data collected includes 1) data from 352 referred patients regarding demographics, diagnosis, treatment duration and pre- and post Health status, 2) a patient-satisfaction questionnaire and 3) interviews with six therapists and five medical doctors. The treated patients improved significantly and showed a high degree of satisfaction.

Undersökningens syfte var att studera om det finns någon skillnad mellan elevers resultat i matematik beroende på vilket socioekonomiskt skolområde de bor i efter att de har lämnat förskolan och börjat i förskoleklass, men även att se om det finns ett samband mellan elevernas språkliga förmåga, kön och aritmetisk förmåga i början av förskoleklass.Studiens resultat visar att elever från områden med svag socioekonomisk status hade generellt sämre matematiska kunskaper och färdigheter och grundläggande språklig förmåga jämfört med elever från områden med god socioekonomisk status. Resultatet visar också att elevers språkliga förmåga har betydelse för den förberedande aritmetiska förmågan. I analysen av den språkliga förmågan är det framförallt den fonologiska förmågan som är avgörande för den förberedande aritmetiska förmågan..

Journalistiken i dag går igenom en förändring till följd avbland annat ägarkoncentrationer, nedskärningar och otydligare gränser mellanpubliceringsplattformer, journalister och fotografer.
