In Scandinavia today many old Harbour areas are developed into residential and commercial areas. For example are both Helsingborg city and Malmoe city in south Sweden planning to restructure some of their Harbour areas to accommodate shops, schools, offices, residences et cetera. In Copenhagen in Denmark new plans for Nordhavn is also underway. In almost every plan proposal to redevelope an old Harbour area the Harbour activities are set a side to give room for new development. In Reykjavik, however, this has not been the case.

The Harbour in Arvika is closed down and the industry that has been established in the area is now beeing wound up. A deepened comprehensive plan for the area is under progress in the municipality. The intentions are for instance that the Harbour should be integrated with the city and that Arvika is facing a lake should be more apparent from the city center. The Harbour should also contribute to a more attractive city. These intentions have hence been the starting point of my undergraduate theses, which has resulted in a proposal on how to develop the Harbour. During the process I have analysed the city image, how the area is used today and the public places in the city centre.

The municipality of Enköping is presently working out a new layout plan for the town of Enköping and new residences are planned in the Harbour area. Because of these plans, the municipal energy company ENA Energi may have to move its location from the Harbour to another part of the city.The aim of this degree project is to investigate the possibility of building a new CHP plant in another area of Enköping. The future demand on district heating and infrastructure at the new location have been projected. A new CHP plant has been dimensioned and economic analyses concerning the project have been made.Results show that the future demand of district heating in Enköping will differ a little from the present needs. This project includes a small study of Västerås city's housing needs, and a proposal on theuse of the property 1:207, Lantmännens silo in the Eastern Harbour, Västerås.The project intends to produce a basic study of the useful systems for this rebuilding projectwith regards to sustainable development and energy saving light buildings.The end result, which consists of a detailed visualization of the proposal, intends to becomean iconic natural focus for the Eastern port of Västerås and an example of the use andadaptation of existing structures.The property must also link the eastern parts of Västerås with the center through anextension of Mälarleden.The work has been performed through literature studies, site visits, contacts with the City ofVästerås and by calculations.The proposal consists of architectural proposals drawings and visualizations.Furthermore, a suggestion is given of how the property can be used and fitted into theoverall plan for urban density development currently underway in the city of Västerås.Computer programs used have been Microsoft Office Excel, AutoCAD and ArchiCAD..

Det här är en studie kring ämnet flexibel utformning av offentliga rum, och ett förslag på hur Båstads hamnområde skulle kunna utvecklas till en plats som på ett mer tillfredsställande sätt kan användas året runt. Idag är hamnen en plats som präglas av några månader med intensivt liv och mycket rörelse under sommaren, för att sedan bli en tom och oanvänd plats vintertid. Förslaget har föregåtts av analyser, både under vinter och sommar, av hamnens rumslighet, aktivitet, rörelse och attraktioner, en litteraturstudie kring ämnet flexibel utformning av offentliga rum, samt två studiebesök på mindre orter i Sverige som kämpar med en liknande problematik. Förslaget har också föregåtts av en inventering av området, samtal med tjänstemän på Båstads kommun och näringsidkare i hamnen samt studier av tidigare planprogram och planer för hamnen framtaget av kommunen. Med utgångspunkt i resultaten av analyserna och med inspiration från litteraturstudien och studiebesöken har jag tagit fram ett förslag på hur Båstads hamnområde skulle kunna utvecklas, göras mer flexibelt och därav mer användbart hela året.

This Master's thesis work was done at SLU, Uppsala, Sweden in cooperation with Upplandsstiftelsen and Uppsala County Council. The studied area is pointed out as an area for EU´s LIFE project, NATURA 2000, concerning the Scarabid beetle Osmoderma eremita. The studied area lies in an agricultural landscape rich on deciduous trees, about 15 km south of Enköping in the County of Uppland. The species is dependent on large, old, hollow trees, which are exposed to sunlight, usually oak trees in this area. I studied the area in detail concerning large old trees (>70cm ø), middle-aged oak trees and young oak trees.

So far the research has, however, concerned itself primarily with animality, thus neglecting the importance of things and thingliness in her texts. In this essay I outline a new way of approaching Barnes were things are taken into account as a vital element in her literary world, using theories on prostheses, fetishes and souvenirs. In Nightwood and four of the short stories, ?A Night Among the Horses?, ?Aller et Retour?, ?Cassation?, and ?The Grande Malade?, I examine clothing, interiors, collections, statues and dolls as objects that in different ways Harbour meaning, dream, riddle, memory, history, longing and desire.

In this paper I have tried to find out the reason the medieval town of Vä was created. I have studied several different areas in witch all, in one way or another, have had an effect on the making of Vä. This areas includes topography, iron production, mill handling, religious effects, royal affliction and also if the name Vä could tell something about Väs history as a religious cult. I have also looked at two other places not far from Vä, the medieval Harbour town Åhus and the big village of Fjälkinge. By comparing these three places I tried to find out what Vä had that the other places did not, which made Vä turn in to a town.

Government regulations and customs duties restrict the import of trucks to some of the markets to which Scania tries to sell their trucks. The distribution problem due to these regulations is solved by the foreign assembly department, KD, at Scania. This means that competence is needed and costs are added not related to Scania's core operations.The aim of this master thesis has been to analyse and to evaluate alternative ways of managing the packing operations considering cost, quality and work organisation. To study and examine the work methods and operations of today and also to present methods measuring the operations effectiveness and productivity.We have used the system approach to maintain totality and to understand the component's relation to this totality. Field studies combined with studies of relevant literature and studies of other companies operations have given us the knowledge and the understanding of the packing operations needed.
