The purpose of this study has been to examine the archival management at the 14 Student Nations in Uppsala. This may be relevant to study to extend the research in the field that Berndt Frediksson calls ?empirical archival science?. Another reason is that the Student Nations hold a unique position as organisations and their archivists holds a unique position from a professional point of view as they mostly consist of students without professional archivist training. I have mainly focused on why the archival management at the Nations looked as they did.

The original purpose of this program wasto enhance the student?s reading interest. All of the students read at least one book a week andthen they review the book in front of the class.The purpose of the present study was to examine vocabulary, word retrieving, narrative skillsand grammatical abilities in children in this school. The objectives were to investigate if thechosen language abilities in these children were different compared to normative data andearlier studies in children at comparable ages.

Employable humanists. A qualitative study on humanist students' views on employability.The crisis of the humanities is a controversial debate in the media and within academic settings. Because of lack of request for humanists in the labor market, the question of humanistic skills and employability is becoming increasingly important. The concept of employability importance not only echoes within the economic discussions, but also on everyday agenda in the academic world and takes a large part in the communication between the university and the students. It is therefore important to get answers to the question whether there is conformity in the interpretation of this concept between the university and the students.The aim of this desk study is to examine how the concept of employability has its significance in the academic communication and how the responsibility for employability is portrayed.

The aim of my study is to investigate how last year students in upper secondary schoolunderstand certain mathematical concepts, in particular the unit circle and its trigonometry.I have used intentional analysis to interpret student?s actions when they solve certain tasks onthe basis of a cognitive, situated and cultural context.Interviews with four university teachers in mathematics about the unit circle, trigonometry,and mathematical understanding, serve both as background for the study and as basis for adiscussion, where I relate students understanding to what the teachers want new students toknow about these concepts when they begin university studies in mathematics.The students were arranged in three groups with three students in each group. Each group waspresented with two tasks, one in which they were asked to calculate the cosine values for onepointed, one blunt and one straight angle, each located in a separate triangle. They were alsoasked to decide whether the points (0,71; 0,71) and d (1 2 , 3 2 ) are located on the unit circleor not.My conclusion is that students mainly have an operational conception of the unit circle andtrigonometry. The lack of structural conceptions result in difficulties in seeing connectionsbetween the concepts in unfamiliar situations.

Studenters upplevelse av information overload i informationshanteringsprocessen - Implikationer för högskolebiblioteket

Information overload occurs when the amount of information exceeds the individual s capacity to efficiently process and use the information available. In this situation information instead of being an asset becomes a load. This interview study deals with college students experiences of information overload when working on their thesis. Focus lies on use of Internet based information resources. The main result was that the students experienced information overload in specific situations and steps of the process.

Fältstudiers betydelse för stimulans, delaktighet och inflytande : En studie av hur elever och lärare i Vallentuna gymnasium värderar fältstudier

Schools inspections investigation has shown that most pedagogues are experiencing significant challenges to stimulate students and to invite students to participate and to influence the teaching structure and content. This study is based in the school inspections school questionnaire from 2013 which shows that Vallentuna high school results in two categories stimulation as well as participation and influence gets a low index value compared to all participating school units. Previous research has shown that the field studies creates greater amount of stimulation, increases students? participation and provide experience of a bigger influence. Careful preparations are also important and the right form of field studies.

Aim: The study aims to investigate the distribution of grades between students in a practical subject and in a theoretical subject.The problem:What is the grade distribution in physical education and mathematics, with respect to gender, socioeconomic background, parental education, ethnicity, and physical activity?Method:To answer the aim of the study a quantitative method was chosen. As the collection method used was questionnaires to 620 students in the 9th grade in Stockholm. Of the 620 questionnaires, 597 questionnaires were used for the static analysis. The method of analysis used cross tables and logistic regression analysis.

De bortglömda barnen : En kvalitativ studie om hur några lärare arbetar med de nyanlända eleverna i den svenska skolan och om de olika undervisningsformerna bidrar till integration

Children of school age, who have just moved to Sweden can either start in a preparation class or in a normal class. There is no Swedish law or national policy that determines how new children will start and continue their education in Swedish schools. The decision is up to the schools or the communes.This study investigates what kind of educational methods teachers, from a sample of two different schools, are using to educate the newly-arrived students and if these methods are making any contribution to integrating these children into the Swedish school system. The study will raise questions like, how are the new students introduced to the Swedish school, what is the purpose of having the children in preparation class as opposed to normal class, and what methods do the interviewed teachers use to integrate the new children into the school system?Interviews were conducted with four teachers, an associate professor and a senior lecturer in education, who has done several years of research about children from abroad coming in to the Swedish school system.

Sjuksköterskestudenters uppfattning av möten med palliativa patienter och handledning samt stöd i detta

Bakgrund: Sjuksko?terskestudenter kommer i kontakt med palliativa och cancerpatienter flertalet ga?nger under sin kliniska utbildning. Detta pa?verkar studenterna olika ka?nsloma?ssigt. Fo?r att hantera dessa nya upplevelser tilldelas studenter en handledare som skall ge sto?d, undervisa och guida dem under den kliniska utbildningen.Syfte: Syftet med studien var att underso?ka sjuksko?terskestudenter uppfattning av mo?tet med palliativa patienter samt erha?llen handledning i samband med dessa mo?ten.Metod: Metoden till denna kvalitativa studie var tva? semistrukturerade fokusgruppsintervjuer med ett bekva?mlighetsurval av studenter som haft klinisk utbildning pa? hematolog, onkolog eller palliativ avdelning.Resultat:Va?rd av palliativa patienter eller patienter med cancer uppfattades som en sorglig, sva?r, obekva?m men la?rorik upplevelse.

Varför biologi ute? : Gymnasielärares syn på utomhusundervisning inom biologi

Denna studie berör gymnasielärares inställning till och tankar om utomhusundervisning inom biologi, varför man undervisar utomhus samt hur man väljer att genomföra det.Studien bygger på intervjuer med 7 lärare som undervisar i biologi på gymnasienivå och den visar att lärarna bedriver utomhusundervisning främst inom ämnesområdena ekologi och systematik och att lärarna anser det vara viktigt att vara ute. Lärarna ägnar sig främst åt utomhusundervisning för att få en verklighetsanknytning till den biologiundervisning som är direkt kopplad till naturen och de organismer som finns i den, men det finns fler konsekvenser och orsaker till att undervisa utomhus.Tre olika typer av lärare har kategoriserats utifrån resultaten som visar på olika grader av engagemang och olika inställningar till utomhusundervisning. Respondenternas svar gör dock tillsammans klart att utomhusundervisningen måste vara förberedd och välplanerad för att fungera optimalt. Mest förekommande är kortare arbetsuppgifter som eleverna löser i smågrupper med läraren som handledare och lärarna föredrar att agera handledare hellre än guider när de undervisar utomhus.Studien visar att utomhusundervisningen finns, uppskattas och behövs och att det finns flera områden där en vidare forskning behövs för att utveckla och förbättra kunskaperna om ämnet..

The aim of this essay is to examine how students in 6-9 grade with reading and writing difficulties are treated and supported by teachers and staff at Ideskolan, a community school north of Stockholm. I have chosen to answer the following question:- How does Ideskolan cope with and support students with reading and writing difficultiesThis has in turn generated the following questions:- How is special education organized at Ideskolan?- Is a diagnose always needed in order to deploy extra support?The method I have employed is observation while participating, together with informal talks and interviews. I have visited Ideskolan twice, one week at the time. The material that the visits have generated is the foundation of the essay, supported by previous research in the field.The essay clarifies what right to special support students have according to law, regulations, curriculum and teaching plans and what they look like in reality at Ideskolan.

Motivation ur ett elevperspektiv : En studie om vilka faktorer som har betydelse för elevers motivation

AbstractThis study deals with motivation as an overall concept, from a student perspective. It encompasses factors that could directly affect students and their positive or negative motivation, concepts such as relationships, communication, expectations and interactions and their importance to my informants.The study also discusses certain theories to show the different ways of defining motivation, specifically in relation to my informants and their and my conclusions. My ambition is to establish the importance of the concepts mentioned above, as well as perspective changes to the enhancement of the performance standards of a good teacher.The purpose of this work is to describe, understand and clarify the external and internal factors that affect motivation. In order to achieve this purpose, I chose to use a method of qualitative interviews with three students, with different backgrounds, schools and conditions but with a lack of motivation as a unifying characteristic. The research questions were as follows:What factors influence students' motivation?   What impact do achievement targets have in relation to the pupils? own motivation to learn?How important are teachers' expectations for the individual student's motivation?Within this study sub-concepts such as importance of expectations, relationships, and significant others are, according to my analysis, of great importance.

Är det tillåtet att försämra vattenstatus? : Om Sveriges rättsliga genomförande av miljömålen i EU:s vattendirektiv

The pupose of this study is to qualitatively study how teachers at a high school work with the schools demokratic mission under the management by objectives and what the policy document says and how the students can partcipate in different issues. My question fomulations are: What does it say in the governing documents about schools democratic mission and student influence? How do teachers concretely work to implement the values of democracy and student influence? How can the class councils used as part of the school's democratic mission? The theoretical frame of the study is about the school democracy mission and the possibilities and limits.  Futhermore a brief review of the fundamental values of the school are presented, followed by how the democratic process works.I used the qualitative analysis in order to find a lot of information about a small amount. Its strength is to convey a lot of information about a small number of observations and if the material is small in size.
