This study concerns a selection of prehistoric metal objects of animalistic design, published at the internet site of the Swedish Statens Historiska Museum. It seeks to give an impression of the design elements used, and to find likely models for the motifs among live animals. The method used is a qualitative hermenuetic comparative study of objects, where the distinct significant design elements are being identified and interpretated. Several significant design elements are identified, and some are interpretated as representing certain animals. The amalgamation of differentiating design elements in some objects however, leads to interpretations of compound animal motifs, where some motifs are considered ambiguous and some are rendered uninterpretated.

This Master?s Thesis work was performed at the Studio Engineer department at Volvo CarsDesign Centre in Gothenburg, Sweden. The assignment has been to create a new idea of an airvent where the news value mainly was focused at functionality but also with great attention onvisual appearance.The work has been totally independent and not been aimed to any specific car model. Theindependency initially made that the visual appearance primary wasn?t limited in any way dueto surrounding components.

The purpose of this paper is to explore how masculinity and femininity are constructed in the magazine Veckorevyn, through a critical discourse analysis of 18 articles from six issues in 2011. This is done by using a variety of theories and previous research results, which is gender theory, the theory of late-modern society and media theory. The analysis shows that Veckorevyn depicts virility and feminine differently. Furthermore, pointing the results from the analysis that a change of manhood and womanhood takes place in the social practice. The selection of articles from the magazine also shows that Veckorevyn seems to promote gender equality. .

In the literature it is not possible to find something about Swedish UN Military Observers (MO) experience of life is changing after their service. The aim of this study was to investigate if this has happened. The selection is of type ?snowball?. Interviews were made with twelve MO by telephone, both male and female.

This report looks at the possibility of designing a universal adapter for Flat Blade windshield wipers in cooperation with European Automotive Supplier AB.To understand and see if this is possible, a research and an extensive patent search where done. Then to add structure to the project a Ganttschematic were developed. To generate good and solid ideas, different methods for product development were looked upon.When a method was chosen and applied, a series of concepts emerged. Now the focus was to design and construct all the pieces. The desired manufacture procedures were looked upon as well as materials.

Den största delen av vår svenska kust gränsar till Östersjön, vilket gör att vi alla påverkas av dess miljötillstånd. Östersjön är ett förorenat innanhav med ett känsligt djur- och växtliv. Östersjön är redan, utan de antropogena föroreningarna, ett ogästvänligt habitat att leva i för både djur och växter. Detta beror delvis på att vattnet är bräckt och att arterna måste anpassa sig till dessa förhållanden, dels att det råder en naturlig syrebrist i vattnet. Även andra faktorer spelar in.

Workbooks are used and has been used for a long time in teaching context with younger children. Given that children start grade 1 after one year of preschool, I will in my study examine what type of activities that are presented in textbooks used for teaching younger children in pre-school and school grade 1. The purpose of the study is, through a selection of published skill-training materials investigate its pedagogical basic view related to reading and write form of education in pre-school and school grades 1. In line with the aim of the study and to answer the study questions, a qualitative text analysis and pictures analysis was carried out. The result shows that there are more similarities in content than the forms of the textbooks, there are assumptions about language as well as how images should be interpreted in a right way.

The aim of this masters thesis is to explore a mediators practical procedure during booktalks. The main question is: Why do librarians have booktalks and what does it mean to have booktalks for children? In order to answer our main question, we have used these three questions: - Why do our interviewed librarians have booktalks? - How do our informants prepare their booktalks and what do their presentations look like? - Do our informants have any follow-ups of their booktalks and if so, how do they do that? To limit the thesis, we have concentrated our study to Swedish public libraries and to children in the elementary school. We have conducted qualitative interviews with three librarians who do booktalks for children as a part of their job. The thesis theoretical basis is Aidan Chambers theory about the Reading Circle and especially the parts enabling adult and selection.

This study is about gender stereotypes that occur in the magazines of ELLE and KING's advertisements in 2014. The purpose of this inquisition is by using a gender perspective to examine the interpretation of women and men, compare how they relate to the traditional gender stereotypes. To answer our purpose of this study, a selection of 400 advertisements were analyzed based on it's content and visual expression. Through a content analysis, we could measure the frequency of 18 variables and put them in relation to each other to grasp the differences that exist between the genders. The results are presented in bar charts based on the variables that proved most interesting outcome between the genders.

Webbservrar på Internet använder idag dynamiska webbsidor genererade med hjälp av databassystem för sina användare. Detta har lett till en stor belastning på webbservrar och en metod för att minska belastningen är att använda cachning. Detta arbete implementerar och utför tester på en specifik cachningsalgoritm kallad Online View Selection i ett webbspelsscenario. Ett potentiellt problem identifieras hos algoritmen som kan leda till att inaktuell information levereras till klienten och algoritmen modifieras för att hantera problemet. Testresultaten visar att både den modifierade algoritmen och originalet ger likvärdig prestanda.

Naturbetesmarker är artrika och näringsfattiga habitat vars utbredning kraftigt har minskat under 1900-talet. Historiskt fyllde de en viktig funktion som fodermarker men har idag till stor del ersatts av åker och vallodling. Naturbetesmarker bör idag bevaras av andra syften, både biologiska och kulturella. De rymmer en stor mängd rödlistade arter och visar spår av historisk markanvändning. Många naturbetesmarker har tidigare varit betesmarker eller slåtterängar och när hävden upphör växer det öppna landskapet igen. I denna studie har effekterna av restaurering genom kraftig röjning och förnyat bete studerats.

This exam is about student?s perception of food and dietary advice. I illustrate food and eating from the youth's own perspective. The aim is to investigate how students perceive as "good" diet. It also reveals that students at the surveyed schools have poor knowledge of what is plate model.

Genom att undersöka begrepp som natur, det vilda och det sublima, i en idéhistorisk tillbakablick baserad i västerländsk kulturtradition, presenteras en ny möjlighet för efterbehandling av kalkstensbrottet Västra brottet i Slite på Gotland. En analys av platsen och tidigare nämnda begrepp leder till en förändring av det befintliga förslaget på efterbehandlingsplan. Denna aktuella efterbehandlingsplans tyngdpunkt ligger i införande av habitat. Förslaget i detta arbete är att en ?social efterbehandling? som har möjlighet att aktivera hela orten tillförs.

The countries in the European Union have agreed to increase their percentage renewable energy sources to 20 %. To reach this goal an increase of biomass production needs to be made. One way of achieving this is by using nonnative species. Poplar in Sweden produces biomass faster than the domestic trees. In the southern parts of Sweden plantations has been made with good results. In the northern parts survival is a problem that needs to be solved before plantations can be made for commercial use.

In this thesis we examine the relationship between board composition and firm performance in Swedish companies. The selection of companies includes all Swedish limited liability companies, with the exception of micro enterprises, that have been active between the years of 2009-2010. We develop hypotheses based on resource dependence theory, agency theory, and the resource based view, and test these with regression analysis against collected data. Specifically, we examine the effects of board diversity, outside directorships, and CEO duality. Our findings show that none of the theories provide sufficient explanatory power of the relationship between board composition and firm performance, and that further research is required to better understand the role and effects of company boards..
