The aim of the study was to explore the methods used in horticultural therapy gardens in rehabilitating people suffering from fatigue syndrome. Nine horticultural therapy gardens were contacted of wich three chose to participate. Using case study as method e-mail interviews was carried out with the participants about their establishment and what kind of theories they based their methods upon. The material collected from the interviews was complemented with additional data from the establishments web pages and information pamphlets. Collected data was processed trough content analysis and then formed as background for the development of a program theory for horticultural therapy.

It is sixty years since Sweden's first star-shaped housing estate was built in Gröndal, a suburb of Stockholm. Olle Engkvist, the building contractor, was the driving force behind the residential area and it was designed by architects Sven Backström and Leif Reinius. The estate comprises detached star-shaped houses suited to a more hilly terrain and terraced star-shaped houses on the flat land. The eight gardens of the terraced houses form the shape of a hexagon. It is these gardens, designed by Sven Hermelin and Per Friberg, which are the main focus of this thesis. The buildings on the estate have recently been renovated and it is now time for the gardens to be restored.

In this essay, several factors in apple tree care (specifically in relation to whether dead wood should be kept or removed) are highlighted for example, aesthetics and biodiversity. To present some background, the essay begins by introducing some previous literature on dead wood. This leads into how dead wood is treated within forestry. Next, previous research on dead wood in fruit trees is mentioned. Cultural and historical management methods are also highlighted.

Denna kroppshållning visade sig vara sämre i jämförelse med andra tekniker och kroppspositioner med hänsyn taget till påfrestningsgraden av ländryggen.Även vid grävning finns per automatik ett starkt inslag av att luta sig fram med böjd överkropp med den följden att ryggen utsätts för krafter som kan vara skadliga.

Sommaren 2004 var jag på besök i Bandhagen i Stockholm. Mellan hyreshusen fann jag två fantastiska trädgårdar som uppstått på eget initiativ från några boende. Efter att min första fascination över att hitta något så oväntat och i denna förstadsmiljö lagt sig, blev jag nyfiken på hur en sådan vacker trädgård kommit till. Under min utbildningstid har jag i viss mån saknat diskussionen om hur man planerar miljöer som svarar mot människans behov. The purpose has been to, by the means of literature studies and conversation, give landscape architects, teachers or other interested people an increased understanding of school gardens as a phenomenon. One episode in the essay describes school garden?s historical background and how its ideology has changed as the society has developed. A conversation with a spokesperson for Södermalmsskolan in Stockholm, depict how a communal public school handles the management of a school garden today. I have also wanted to present the conditions that society and the schools organisation has put on the management of the garden on this particular school. In the year of 2007 Södermalmsskolan got the opportunity to found its school garden thanks to the environmental campaigns that were realized by the city of Stockholm.

Inledning: En förväntning är en sinnesstämning som människor känner kring något eller någon innan de kommer i kontakt med objektet. Detta grundar sig i många fall i en positiv känsla över hur något kommer att bli och har vissa krav som den ämnar leva upp till. Varje dag utsätter människan sig för situationer där förväntningar skapas. Förväntningar kan även mätas innan, under, samt efter någonting utförts. Du kan till exempel gå in med en rad förväntning innan du utför ett uppdrag vilka självklart hänger med genom hela processens gång.

Vi har under våren 2013 drivit ett fristående projekt för vårt examensarbete.Med inspiration från kommersiell livsmedelstillverkning och "Urban Gardening", konsten att odla utan jord, på limiterade ytor och med minimalt ljus ville vi skapa och utveckla en produkt riktad för det genomsnittliga hushållet och den gemene människan. Vi stöter på vårt problem i vardagen när vi lagar mat. Basilikan som hinner bli vissen tills nästa middag och rosmarinen som inte håller tills grillkvällen på fredag. Detta problem gav underlag för vår grundtanke som var att skapa en produkt som förlänger livstiden på färska kryddor, örter och plocksallat. Designad med fokus på hela produktcykeln, från inköp av material till återvinning formades en produkt helt olik från vad vi förväntat oss.

This master thesis covers the design of a special garden room, The Hardscape Room, in The Rehabilitation Gardens at Alnarp, in southern Sweden, as well as describes the design process. The Rehabilitation Gardens are intended to serve several purposes. It will offer horticultural therapeutic treatment programs for people diagnosed as having had burnout disease for an extended period. Research is also aimed at studying the possible impact of different garden design hypotheses as well as different forms of horticultural therapy. In The Rehabilitation Gardens at Alnarp the most extreme and demanding garden room focused on cultivation and horticultural therapy is The Hardscape Room.

This paper is based on a literature review and interviews made with managers in small-scale nurseries for pot plant production. The review helped to identify the worst occupational hazards in pot plant production. The interviews provided a way to investigate how the nurseries act so as to avoid the worst hazards and what they do to even out work intensive periods during the season in order to get a more even distribution of work over the year. According to available statistics problems with back and shoulders are the most common of the physical disorders and the risk for occupational accidents are high for greenhouse workers. Most of the occupational injuries are connected to musculoskeletal problems. The handling of material is often manual and involves frequent lifting and carrying of heavy loads, the strenuous work postures and static muscular tensions these repetitive tasks are associated with causes straining and overloading.
