Stormwater is surface runoff water that originates from precipitation or snowmelt and that on hardened surfaces prevents to infiltrate the ground. In city areas stormwater can consists of major amounts pollutants and when reaching a lake or watercourse it can cause damages on vegetation and animals. Therefore it is important to treat polluted stormwater before it reaches the recipient.
The municipality of Örebro have since the 90ies an extensive work with treatment of stormwater in sedimentation ponds. A new stormwater treatment project is planned in an industrial estate in Skebäck, Örebro.
The objective of this work was to compare the environmentally gentle soil scarification technique Huminmix (with possibilities to do track-grinding/HMMspår, long-scraping/HMMlångfläck and mounding/HMMhög) with conventional disc trencher, concerning seedling establishment and growth of direct seeded and planted Scots pine seedlings. Inventories were made during June and July 2005, in 34 seeded and 6 planted stands from 2000 ? 2004 (1- 5 years old) of lichen- and myrtillus/vaccinum-type in Holmen Skog AB´s district Norsjö in Västerbotten. The Huminmix-technique had been used for HMMspår in the seeded stands and for HMMhög in the planted stands (HMMlångfläck has been used from the year 2006 for direct seeding). The studied stands had been seeded with the same amount of seeds according to stand data.

SUMMARY
Establish a pasture
There is many valuable nature and culture landscapes in Sweden that has developed during a long period of time, throw natural processes or human use. Unfortunately lot of these are disappearing. My thought with this work is to explore the possibility to establish new areas with similar qualities. The motive for this is that attractive countryside biotopes are well worth to use as model to enrich the urban landscape.
Another thought has concerned the people that establish, build and manage landscapes and parks. They often have varied views, both coming from a difference in background and previous experiences.
Kvickrotsstudier: 1. 2. Reducerad glyfosatanvändning på trädad åkermark :
1. Reaction on burial depth and nitrogen availability and placement in competition with a crop
In this trial it was investigated how couch grass (Elymus repens) changes its ability to compete in stands of wheat and barley with different burial depth and different amounts and placement of nitrogen. More knowledge in this area can be valuable in the attempt to decrease the use of herbicides and still keep the weeds under control.
The trial was carried out in the summer of 2004 as an outdoor pot experiment. The pots contained 15 litres of soil with a surface of 0,06 m2.
English Arts and Crafts gardens and how they can be modernised in Sweden
The aim with this thesis was to investigate what characterises an English
Arts and Crafts garden how they could be modernised in Sweden. My
research was limited to 20 weeks of full-time writing and worth 30 ECTS.
Through literature studies, interviews and site visits I could analyse my
findings which resulted in a concrete garden design project.
The Arts and Crafts was a movement that started in England during the
1880?s and evolved as a reaction towards the industrialisation. The influence
came from the writings and practices of John Ruskin (1819-1900)
and William Morris (1834-1896) who advocated the importance of craftsmanship.
The Arts and Crafts movement also became a ?recipe for life?
and was associated with a healthy and morally pure way of living.
As we travel more and more by train it becomes increasingly important
that the time we spend traveling, is of great quality. This has been the foundation of this master thesis and has shaped the outcome of it. The traveling experience, that is, the experience of the landscape that flashes by outside the train window, is an important aspect in railway planning and an aspect that should be taken into greater consideration. The purpose of this master thesis has been to examine how to compose or improve the travel experience for an already planned high speed railway and how the travel experience can be combined with other aspects, which have claims on the landscape. This thesis is based on a literature study and a case study of Ostlänken.
The work describes Ostlänken, a planned high speed railway in Sweden between Järna and Linköping, with top speeds at 300-320 kilometers per hour.
Friluftsliv i staden : tillfällig landskapsarkitektur på sex platser i Linköping 3-15 april 2012
The subject of this project focuses on how
Landscape Architects by their profession can
explore and directly make a difference in the
cityscape. This paper documents the process of art -
based research practice. The purpose of installing
temporary activities is to encourage people in the
city to discover, participate and invite people to be
more playful in the city.
My experience of interaction in public spaces comes
primarily from the education within landscape
architecture, from site-specific art installations I have
performed in different cities and from observations
of landscape architecture, street art and urban life in
the cities of Vienna, Berlin and Linköping. It is
fascinating and inspiring to see how the urban space
can invite and allow visitors to participate and
therefore feel invited to the open space. As a
landscape architect I wish to create urban spaces
that are useful and inspiring for their visitors.
The projects main question: How can you make
temporary landscapes that encourage outdoorinspired
activities at selected locations in the city? is
answered by practice based research, an approach
in which theoretical research are developed through
practical experiments in the designing- and
implementation process.
ABSTRACT
There is present a lot of focus on animal welfare issues during transport and the related
loading and unloading of animals. This thesis is a field study investigating the present
situation of beef and dairy farms in Sweden. The predominant reasons stressing cattle when
transported to abattoirs are when they are loaded and unloaded on the trucks. The aim of this
thesis is to improve the handling and the loading facilities to facilitate the handling and
reduce the stress for the animals as well as the personnel.
The field study was done by travelling together with the transports from the farm to the
abattoir in Uppsala. Three trucks where used and about 60 farms were visited January to
March 2003.
