The aim of this thesis is to describe and analyze the geographical distribution of everyday criminality in the town of Borlänge during the year 2002 and to analyze which measures to be taken in the physical social planning to decrease this everyday criminality there. The term everyday criminality is here to be understood as those categories of crime that appear most frequently in the records of reports to the police every year. Here two kinds of crime have been in focus, thefts from cars and office burglary.In fulfilling this aim two main questions have been answered. The first one is how the everyday criminality was distributed geographically in the town of Borlänge during the year 2002. The second one is which measures to be taken in the physical social planning to decrease this everyday criminality in the town of Borlänge.In order to answer the first question a spatial autocorrelation analysis, Local Moran LISA has been used.

Transcending sound design is possible. There are unseen possibilities and a great potential for improvement and development in sound and music design ? but there is a great difficulty penetrating the obstacles that lies in the way for such development to take place and to exist. The difficulties in being negotiable and productive lies more within the limits of the audience it has to gain, than in itself. This study concerns design thinking and how to achieve usability when designing applicationsfor smart watches. The study's focus is on interaction and design for online auctionapplications such as Ebay and Tradera. After studying usability and design for devices withsmall screens, guidelines and design principles for interactive systems, we developed apaperprototype for an auction application. The prototype was used for testing our intervieweeswhile observing and asking questions. After collecting the data we analyzed the responses andfeedback on our prototype and combined the results to previous studies.

The IT industry is constantly evolving and it's more or less a requirement today for web developers to be familiar with and to be able to develop for all platforms. A technique that has taken hold and is now widely used is responsive design. Developing responsive design means adapting the layout to the viewing environment; the screen size. Another useful method when developing for different devices is the mobile first theory, which means developing for the mobile screen first. This is done to scale down the site and to clear unnecessary information in order to provide a better user experience.

Effects of climate change, urbanization and global homogenization are resulted in the degradation of land and losses of natural habitats. Ecological design integrates nature into urban environment by respecting natural ecological principles and processes and creating resilient urban biotopes which also can be used by local urban communities. The aim of the thesis is to answer the research questions: How ecological design principles can be applied for re-design of Toledo Riverfront (with requirements of the design competition)? and What is the ecological design in landscape architecture? I participated in the USA design competition with the aim to create a vision and redesign of Toledo Riverfront in Ohio State, USA. The site is located in the south point of Lake Erie. As a result of a long industrial activity, riverfront of Toledo had been transformed into inaccessible and abandoned brownfields. In my proposal I applied ecological design principles on three scales: the city of Toledo by reinforcing of ecological connection and creating green corridors along the river; the intermediate scale by suggesting public parks along the river front and on the fine level by proposing detailed design including remediation of the site and use of dredged material.

What if the emergency response directly knew exactly where to go and what to do if a road accident occured? During the last ten years the number of motorcyclists in Sweden has doubled. Every year, more than 300 riders are seriously injured and over 40 die in road accidents. Being found in time is critical to increase the chance of survival. The goal of this project is to use design methods to find a solution that enables a fast and adequate emergency response for motorcyclists and other unprotected road users..

Denna rapport behandlar arbetet kring 3D-moduler med egyptiskt tema samt tillhörande guide till spelet Testament. Syftet var att skapa moduler som var lätta att anpassa och arbeta med, men samtidigt ha rum för god estetik och grafisk variation. I arbetet har en förstudie om forntida Egypten genomförts med bland annat Brier och Hobbs (1999) och Grönblom (2000) som referenser. Modulerna har genomgått testning utifrån Bryman (2001) med utgångspunkterna: variation, kombination och anpassning där testresultatet sedan analyserats. Tre frågeställningar ställdes upp som hjälp vid utvecklingen av modulerna och guiden.? Finns det något naturligt sätt att bryta ned en byggnad till logiska moduler?Svaret på frågeställningen är att logiska mått varit mer viktigt än eftersträvan att skapa logiska moduler.

Idag lockas företag från andra länder att etablera sig på den kinesiska marknaden, eftersom Kina genom sin ökade ekonomi nu är en av de ledande länderna i världen. I samband med detta ökar utbudet av marknadsföring för företagen i Kina. Som svenskt företag möter man viss svårighet med att etablera sig på den nya marknaden, eftersom den visuella kommunikationen och marknadsföringen skiljer sig åt från svenskt marknaden. På grund av den bristfälliga kunskap och misstag vid marknadskommunikation i Kina. Kan vi konstatera att svenska företag utformar sin marknadsföring för den kinesiska marknaden med för liten kännedom om den kinesiska kulturen.

Vi har arbetat med ett gemensamt masterprojekt på institutionen för Grafisk design & Illustration.Vårt projekt bygger på att generera idéer, där vi använder lek- och lustbetonade workshops som en metod för kreativt skapande.Som en del av vårt projekt sammanställer vi en katalog över idéerna, tänkt att fungera som en idébank. Eftersom det inte trycks någon officiell utställningskatalog på Konstfack i år vill vi lansera denna idékatalog som "den officiella utställningkatalogen". Med hjälp av vår workshop-metod skapar vi 40-60 "masterprojekt" på sju av Konstfacks institutioner, utifrån idéen att man efter en konstnärlig utbildning kan applicera sin kreativitet på olika discipliner.Katalogen är viktig för att kunna presentera och jämföra våra projekt på lika villkor som de äkta masterprojekten. Denna jämförelse gör det möjligt för oss att väcka frågor som rör kvalitet och värde i ett projekt, i relation till besökarens upplevelse av nyssnämnda. Kommer man kunna skilja ett textilprojekt av en masterstudent på T, från ett textilprojekt av två masterstudenter på GD&I?.

This project has been about making a design suggestion for a boat accessory that adjuststhe distance between a sail-or motorboat and the dinghy, which is connected by a rope inthe stern. Today this is all done by hand and can lead to problems when it comes tostressful situations such as harbors and narrow passages.A company called Sailsafe came up with the idea and the construction, which they alsohave tested. I found them through an acquaintance at Dacat AB where I did an internshipin the fall of 2010.Using sketching as the primary tool I?ve worked in an almost-real design project with theaim to develop my skills and give the company a relevant design suggestion. Dacat thenhelped me with a 3d model in Alias, which was printed in 3d and painted in thepaintworkshop at school..

AbstractPresentation of the problem: The goal with this graduation project is to produce a new visual concept for the student newspaper Campus, this will be expressed in the form of page templates. The page templates will have a visual concept that appears through graphical elements. The client's wishes were that the student newspaper should be audience appropriate, attractive, inviting, reliable, modern and functional to work with.Theory: In order to implement the wishes and in a good way produce a consistent visual concept, we took a starting point in theory of graphic design. This theory has taken many of its principles from aesthetic theory, and therefore have we also used aesthetics to provide a deeper theoretical aspect. The principles we used in graphic design is; how to create a unity in the layout by using basic elements such as text, images, and white space.

In this degree project a study of the importance of a graphic identity to companies has been done. A questionnaire among small companies in Dalarna has beenmade. From this, three sets of graphic profile-program have been formed andthese are suitable for new companies. The process of producing a video game is one that goes through a number of phasesduring the span of the entire production. One of these phases is the concept design phase,which is part of the pre-production. This phase is an important aspect of the productionas it is where all the different parts and ideas concerning the game are brought togetherto define what the game is going to be. Though a clearly important part of the videogame production surprisingly little research have been done on the subject of conceptdesign. This thesis presents what place concept design has in the overall game productionand how the design process is handled.
