This in an essay concerning the use of humor in male communication. Primarily, I have focused on studying how jokes can be used as a sanction for the training of members in a (male) group. I have found great inspiration in Goffman?s thoughts on a social face and the use of humor to protect this perceived face.Initially I started to reflect on men?s reluctance to discuss masculinity and their thoughts about the meaning of being a man. Every time I tried to hold a serious conversation, my male friends made a joke out of it.

The purpose of this study is to explore specific pedagogical activities that benefit the student's verbal language development and to learn more about how our schools use teaching methods to achieve the ambitions in the governing documents in Sweden. The aim is finding the correlation between theory, research, governing documents and the educational work in our schools. This study contains an empirical survey in intention to see how teachers, pupils and school administrators experience school activities, to see if those activities are formed with the intention for pupils to reach the learning goals according to the governing documents.The aim of this study has been achieved by relating empirical data with theories and previous research on conversation analysis. Goffman's and Norrby's research on the importance of dialogue and previous research on dialogicity studied by Dysthe, Vygotsky and Bakhtin are presented. Those are related to empirical data and show that most teachers realize the importance of integrating dialogues in daily activities and in different learning contexts.

Syftet med vår undersökning är att se vilka sociala relationer det finns mellan kriminalvårdspersonalen och de intagna, ur ett social psykologiskt perspektiv. Även vilken hjälp det finns att bistå de kriminella under tiden på anstalten men även efteråt. Kriminellas beteende är ett omdiskuterat och intressant ämne i samhället. Ska de lyckas ta sig tillbaka till samhället utan att leva ett kriminellt liv och vad får det kosta? Det finns många fördomar i samhället som gör att de människorna som har varit kriminella alltid kommer att bli dömda för det de tidigare har blivit straffade för och får leva med det resten av sitt liv.

Weblogs, or blogs, are frequently modified web pages with a series of archived entries, generally in reverse chronological sequence. This thesis focuses on the rapid-growing phenomenon of weblogs and the fact that individuals with a background in library and information science are frequent users of weblogs. Since this is an explorative inductive study the ultimate purpose can be described as to find out what ?blogging? as activity is about. The research questions posed are: Why do individuals with a background in library and information science use weblogs? How does their professional identity affect their blogging? And finally; how do they use the weblog to create networks with other bloggers? The empirical material consists of audiotaped interviews with five informants who are all employed in knowledge work, either as librarians or information specialists.

AbstractUppsatsen är en kvalitativ studie som handlar om kommunikation via mobiltelefonen mellan föräldrar och tonåringar. Vi har intervjuat åtta personer, fyra tonåringar i åldern 14-17 år samt deras mammor. Syftet med undersökningen är att ta reda på vad mobiltelefonen betyder för relationen mellan föräldrar och tonåringar.I bakgrunden har vi tagit upp den fasta telefonens och den mobila telefonens historia och utveckling samt tonåringarnas syn på att hantera och använda sig av mobiltelefonen. Teorier vi valt att använda är Margaret Meads kulturbegrepp, Anthony Giddens begrepp rena relationer samt tid och rum och slutligen Erving Goffman teori om roller och regioner.Relationen mellan föräldrar och tonåringar har med mobiltelefonen som hjälpmedel genomgått en förändring. Vi ser det som att en ny tillitsrelation skapats där tonåringar och föräldrar informerar varandra kontinuerligt vilket framförallt sker under helger och kvällar.

Syftet med denna uppsats var att skapa en djupare förståelse för hur unga tänker och handlar kring ?likes och om de gör det till en värdering där de kan mäta sig själv och andra både när det gäller online som offline. För att ta reda på detta undersökte vi om det sociala samspelet både online och offline påverkas av denna eventuella värdering. Forskning visar på att sociala medier har en påverkan på unga, dock finns det ingen forskning om just ?likesfenomenet? och hur det tar sig uttryck bland unga användare av sociala medier.

När ungdomar går ifrån skolan och in i arbetslivet, gör de också ett första kliv in i vuxenvärlden. De processer som sker i samband med det här är ofta starkt bidragande i att forma dessa människor till självständiga individer. Därför menar forskare att det kan uppstå vissa problem i den socialisationsprocessen hos de ungdomar som inte får chansen att ta det där första klivet. De som går ifrån skolan direkt in i en tillvaro av arbetslöshet riskerar att bli fast i skarven mellan att vara barn och vuxen. Vårt syfte har därför varit att undersöka hur arbetslösa ungdomar själva reflekterar över hur arbetslösheten påverkar deras identitetsskapande, och utifrån det även se vilken funktion projektet ?Ung i Fokus? kan ha i den processen.

The purpose of this essay is to analyse the descriptions of young girls' experiences of internet contacts, which have led up to sexual abuse. The aim is to give additional understanding and knowledge concerning grooming.       Grooming means that somebody gets in contact with someone else with the intention of committing sexual violations at a later stage. In most cases this concerns adults who contact children. We have chosen to confine ourselves to focusing on the grooming on internet that has happened to girls. By means of thematic analyses of texts from the books Jag kände mig speciell, grooming på internet, 2012 and Alexandramannen, vår tids största nätsexhärva, 2009, we have found certain themes and linked them up with previous research-work and also theory of social psychology.

Romanies have long lived outside the fabric of society and have long been exposed to discrimination in Sweden as well as the rest of Europe. The purpose of this study is to elucidate the experiences of young Finnish romanies in their everyday lives as well as their perceptions of living as a minority group in Stockholm today. Previous scientific researchers have often concentrated their studies on the romanies as a group, so we, the authors have chosen to concentrate our research on the individual?s own experiences. We, the authors have chosen to use a qualitative approach, to give us the opportunity through using open ended interview techniques to comprehend and interpret the individuals own accounts.

The paper describes a study on reading aloud to a group of four women with mild or moderate dementia living in a nursing home. The purpose of the study was to examine what reactions the reading aloud creates and if the reactions are different if the literature is written in common Swedish or in easy-to-read Swedish. Original and easy-to-read version of the book "The Lady with the Camelias" by Alexandre Dumas was chosen for reading aloud. The study was conducted in two separate parts with four reading sessions in each part. All sessions were filmed with two cameras, one of them focusing the group and the other focusing one individual.

Denna studie syftar till att öka förståelsen för hur poliser inom Stockholms polismyndighet förhåller sig till sin yrkesroll och för hur relationen mellan yrkesroll och privatroll upprätthålls med fokus på det emotionella arbete som ingår i polisrollen. Studien bygger på fem kvalitativa samtalsintervjuer med poliser som arbetar inom två av Stockholms läns åtta polisdistrikt, och som har en tjänstgöringsålder på mellan två till fyra år. Den insamlade empirin har analyserats med hjälp av Goffmans dramaturgiska perspektiv samt tidigare forskning om emotioner relaterade till det polisiära yrket. Uppsatsen visar att respondenterna strävar efter att särskilja sin yrkesroll från rollen som privatperson i mötet med allmänheten, vilket av respondenterna anses vara en förutsättning för att kunna prestera i sin yrkesroll. Om denna åtskillnad ej görs kan den enskilda polisen få svårigheter att spela rollen som polis vilken kan leda till att allmänheten ej vet om individen agerar i egenskap av polis eller privatperson vilket kan leda till svårigheter för den enskilda polisen i sitt yrkesagerande.

The aim of this study was, that from a view of professional's understand the meanings of including horses in therapy. In order to achieve the aim of the study, qualitative method was used and therewith interviews was performed with professionals who work with equine- assisted therapy. The professionals did also have an education which allowed them to independently treat clients and besides that at least five years of experience of equine- assisted therapy. The issues of the study was to understand the professionals? view of the horses role in equine-assisted therapy, which opportunities and constraints professionals consider that equine-assisted therapy entails and also if the horse could bring something unique to therapy.

What kind of self images characterise a football supporter? This question is the main focus of this thesis. Therefore, the thesis is trying to find distinguishing characteristic traits for football supporters. This work has been carried out through qualitative interviews with individuals who define themselves as football supporters. The interviews were mainly focused on two different types of supporters, official supporters and other supporters.

A social semiotic analysis of composition was also used with the purpose to gain a deeper knowledge of the social semiotic affordances of Facebook?s composition.Theoretical perspectives: The theoretical base of this thesis consists mainly of Erving Goffman?s theory on presentation of self in everyday life as well as relevant theories to youth culture in sociology and identity in social psychology.Conclusions: The results show that the youth?s presentations of selves mostly takes place in their profile picture, status updates, groups, fan pages and through their communication with other users on their wall. The borders between front and back stage on Facebook entirely depends on the norms that the reader expects the profile owner to uphold.

The purpose of this study is to examine how teenage mother in Iceland, who lives in the capital Reykjavík, perceive their situation. The research questions are:How do teenage mother`s perceive that their lives have changed since they became mothers?Perceive teenage mother some sorts of shame, and if so, in what way?What is the process of teenage mothers to be respected?Qualitative semi structured interviews with 5 girls in the aged of 18-20, is used for analysis in this study. The girls have in common that they have had their child when they were between 15 and 19 years old. The interview were recorded on tape and then it was transcribed.
