The main goal with this thesis report was to come up with ideas of how to make the use of energy more effective and thus save money for the company.First a survey was made to find out where and how the energy consumers were divided within the company. The results were then used in calculations to find out how much money that could be saved and how long it would take to get back the investments.There is a big potential in saving money by recovering heat from the UV-lamps with a heat exchanger. It would also even out the pressure in the factory which is a source to heat loss and a cause for discomfort amongst the employees. It?s possible to save 105 000 kr in a year and the money needed for the investments is 600 000 kr.By using the recovery air more effectively the company could save up to 250 000 kr a year in lowered heat purchases, but this would require the use of automatic dampers.If you reschedule the running times for the wood chipper and invest in some kind of load management, for example Sydkraft?s ?Energidirigent? you can save at least 42 000 kr.

Ala sawmill in Ljusne, Hälsingland, has increased its flow through the sawing plant during the last couple of years. The problem now is the sorting plant, as this part of the mill is now slower than the rest. A close analysis of the sorting plant was therefore necessary to be able to increase the flow through. The aim of the project was to find solutions that can lessen downtime and increase flow. The goal was to increase the flow from 650 to 925 logs through the sorting plant per hour.

Designen har framkommit genom litteraturstudier, State of the Art studier om informationssystem i dagens nya bilar, domänexpertintervjuer och användarstudier i form av Goal Directed Design. Slutligen utvärderades designen. Litteraturstudierna gav en god grund för vilken informationspresentation som finns i bilar idag. State of the Art studierna resulterade i en sammanfattning av nya informationssystem som fanns i tre nya bilar från tre olika bilmärken.

The Sitting while waiting for sustainability project goal was to make a functional model for a resting chair and to make it by using furniture and artefacts as material. A try of understanding the process of re-design and to use it to design was driving the project through. Test as such has moved its focus from the software it self and its faults to a wider perspective on whole infrastructures of information systems where assure a good quality is important. Within this pillar you can find value stream map­ping, which is used to analyze the value stream through the process. This tool gives a wide perspective and helps to keep focus on the entire process instead of just parts of it.Volvo Penta in Vara has earlier done value stream mapping but without good results since they didn?t take set-up times and imbalances in account.

The market for heavy duty engines is constantly requiring engines that should be more andmore powerful, while still maintaining low fuel consumption. As a result of increasing enginepower, the engine and coolant temperature increases as well due to insufficient coolingperformance (because of design issues, cost etc.).Also, emission legislations, both current and future, require more and more measures to betaken by engine manufacturers. One way of meeting the legislations is the use of cooled EGR(Exhaust Gas Recirculation), which also lead to increased coolant temperatures.Both these factors also naturally lead to increased engine oil temperatures, the consequencesof which are not thoroughly investigated.This thesis project aims to investigate effects of high temperatures on engine oil degradation,with focus on the greatest degradation process: oxidation. To do this several engine runs havebeen performed on a 310 hp engine with EGR to see what happens to the engine oil in a realengine when exposed to high temperatures. During the tests oil samples have been taken andanalysed for important parameters.As a complement to these engine tests some laboratory oxidation testing have also beenperformed, to be able to compare engine test data with laboratory tests.One goal of the project was to try to formulate an empirical oxidation model, which would beable to predict oil oxidation levels in an engine, given any running parameters.

To be able to handle tomorrows need for limited energy consumption we need to reduce our use of energy. The building sector stands for around 40 % of all energy consumption in the society. The government has put up a goal to reduce the energy consumption in our buildings with 20 % by year 2020 and 50 % by year 2050 compared with year 1995. To be able to do reach that goal we need a more energy efficient building stock.The main part of the energy used in our buildings is used for space heating. By installing ventilation systems with heat recovery on the exhaust air it is possible to use the heat-energy in the exhaust air to warm up the incoming air.

Inom Polisen finns ett behov av att renodla verksamheten, då de med åren fått ökade administrativa kostnader. Ett projekt startades inom Polisen och Statens kriminaltekniska laboratorium, där all ekonomi- och personaladministration ute på myndigheterna samlades på ett och samma ställe i ett servicecenter förlagt till Linköping. Syftet med studien är att utvärdera hur måluppfyllelsen för de mål som sattes upp för projektet upplevs. Studien är av kvalitativ karaktär, med en fallstudieliknande ansats, där 18 intervjuer genomfördes med de anställda på servicecentret, samt flertalet ur projektets styrgrupp.Resultatet av studien är att organisationen har kommit långt med måluppfyllelsen, men att man inte har nått riktigt ända fram då studien visar att åtta av elva mål är helt uppfyllda i nuläget. Tre mål är alltså ännu inte helt uppfyllda, vilket kan bero på att många av målen är otydliga, kan tolkas olika och inte är så väl förankrade hos de anställda.

Authorities, municipalities and county councils have great opportunities to pave the way to a sustainable society. In the public sector, the tax revenue is used and therefore it is important that both employees and societal stakeholders feel that they participate in the sector?s decisions and fields of application. Municipalities and county councils are primarily service organisations. The employees? commitment is necessary to be able to reach set goals, to develop procedures and policies that support the overall political goals, in other words, to be successful in the environmental work.

The issue of sick leave and an increase of ill health in the workplace is a social problem inSwedenthat is currently an important topic. Public human service organisations are one of the sectors where this is a major problem. The aim of this study is to examine what significance the leadership in public human service organisations has on the health and sense of well being among the staff within the organisation. We have chosen to look at this issue from a health promoting perspective where we focused on health factors and to what extent the management can influence and promote the possibilities for a healthy workplace with healthy staff. The results of the study are based on interviews with three leaders within the public human service sector.

Looking at the settlement pattern of the Battle Axe C culture (BAC) in Scania we might be able to get a picture of how the social structure of the BAC looked like and how it differed from' earlier and later culture groups.. What can a change in settlement tell archaeologists today about this and what problems do archeologist have to take into consideration..

Denna studie ingår i ett forskningsprogram under ledning av professor Caroline Liberg vid Uppsala universitet. Programmet syftar till att utforska nya sätt att se på elevers tidigatextskapande, bland annat genom att fokusera samspelet mellan texters funktion, innehåll och form. Studien utgår från ett vidgat textbegrepp och en dialogisk syn på språkande, där även barn aktivt intar olika sociala positioner gentemot sina medspråkare. Syftet med studien är att studera elevers (årskurs ett) tecknarpositioner i multimodala elevtexter, i termer av dels hur eleverna skapar mening i sina teckningar, dels hur teckningar och det skrivna är relaterade. Sammanlagt har 57 multimodala elevtexter från två olika skrivsituationer i årskurs ett bearbetats i en kvalitativ semiotisk textanalys med en hermeneutisk metodologisk ansats.
