This thesis of 15 hp has been implemented at Halmstad University, in collaboration with Saab Dynamics in Linköping. Saab Dynamics is a company operating in the defence industry where competition is tough. This necessitates new ways to increase efficiency in the company, which is the basis for this thesis. Saab Dynamics wants to introduce simulation driven design. Since Saab Dynamics engineers have little experience of simulation, required a user methodology with clear guidelines.

Volvo Cars in Skövde manufacture and assemble Volvo engines. When attaching the ignition coil to all 4-cylinder engines, a special mounting tool is required. This mounting tool is currently manufactured from injection-molded polyoxymethylene (POM), a thermoplastic. It has been noted that the life span of the tool is shortened as a result of abrasive wear that occurs during the attachment process of the ignition coil.An investigation of the possibility of manufacturing the mounting tool with a 3D-printer is undertaken in cooperation with ÅF, a consultant to Volvo Cars. A literature study is first presented to introduce broader knowledge on the subject.

Problemformulering: Järnvägstransporter av gods har på senare år tappat storamarknadsandelar till vägtransporterna. Orsakerna är många, enav dem kan konkretiseras till en betydande envägstrafik vilketär en direkt följd av dålig lastsäkringsutrustning i vagnarna.Målsättning: Målet med projektet är att utveckla ett koncept för ny typ avlastsäkringsutrustning som kan integreras till befintligvagnpark. Utrustningen ska alltid finnas i vagnen och hamöjlighet att lastsäkra flera typer av produktflöden menframförallt palleterat gods.Förutom grundläggande krav på hållfasthet för de krafter somuppkommer vid rangering och transport ska utrustningensamtidigt vara så liten som möjligt både vad gäller vikt ochvolym.Metod: Projektet är i grunden en produktutveckling vilken består av enstegvis utarbetad modell av Ulrich och Eppinger när välproblemet hade identifierats. Dessförinnan krävdes dock ennormativ studie för att klargöra de problem som åligger ochsom behöver lösning. Informationsinsamlingen har framföralltbestått av kvalitativ data av både primär och sekundär karaktär.Slutsatser: Författarna anser att en förändring i dagens konservativabransch är önskvärd för att stärka järnvägens konkurrenskraft.Integrering av författarnas lastsäkringsutrustning skulleinnebära en stärkt marknadsposition för järnvägens roll somgodstransportör.

I samhället Hults Bruk ligger en nedlagd brukshandel, från 1951, som idag fungerar som samlingslokal för de boende i området. Holmen Skog, som äger alla fastigheter i området, planerar nu för en ombyggnation av den gamla brukshandeln till familjebostad. Vår uppgift var att utforma ett planlösninsförslag anpassat till en tvåbarnsfamilj för den aktuella byggnaden. Utöver detta skulle vi även upprätta rumsbeskrivning och köksuppställning samt ge förslag på ledningsdragningar, tomtutformning och källarplanlösning. Holmen hade vissa krav och önskemål för ombyggnationen.

Porcine circovirus type 2 (PCV2) is a common virus present in most parts of the world. PCV2 has been pointed out as the major causative agent to post weaning multisystemic wasting syndrome (PMWS) that affects pigs after weaning. The clinical symptoms of PMWS are impaired growth, diarrhoea, respiratory problems and increased mortality. At autopsy enlarged lymph nodes with depletion of lymphocytes are commonly found. Since 1991 PMWS has spread all over the world and was first described among Swedish pigs in 2003. Although PCV2 is widespread, only some pigs develop PCV2-related diseases. Why this is and what other factors that are required in order for the disease to develop is yet unknown. The main theories involve other infections, for example PRRS, and management issues but also genetic differences between pigs and/or virus strains have been suggested.

This thesis has two aims: The main purpose is to describe and illustrate how a large Ltd. company can use voluntary redundancy as a tool for restructuring. The additional purpose is to challenge the concept of voluntary redundancy trough outlining alternative ways of reaching the intended achievements of the voluntary redundancy programme. The theoretical framework that has been used primarily contains knowledge assets theories. The chosen theories are intellectual capital and knowledge management theory to approach and analyse the empirical findings.

This study includes several purposes which are to describe the concept of working environment, explain who is responsible for its functioning and how the working environment should look like. Other purposes the study have is to investigate how the working environment is in both Swedish and the two investigated companies construction sites and to share some operators proposing measures for the shortcomings and problems that exist in the construction sector working environment. To achieve these purposes was a qualitative study made with unstructured observations, interviews and survey where three construction sites were observed. The result shows that the concept of the working environment cover many aspects and is essentially about the environment we live in and experience in our work and this environment can be both an indoor as an outdoor environment. In this work, the concept is divided into four areas; it is the physical, the ergonomic, the psychosocial and the chemical.

As emission legislations across the world continuously pushes engine development forward,engineers constantly need to come up with and implement fuel saving technologies. During thelast decade, variable cam phasing has become a popular solution to increase gas exchangeefficiency. This configuration is typically mechanically constrained by camshaft limitations, anda solution to circumvent this problem would be to use a different valve actuation principle.One example of this is to use pressurized air controlled by electrical solenoids. Such a systemhas been developed byCargine Engineering and this provides the starting point for this work. Tobe able to operate the valvetrain on an actual engine, a control system is needed.

LevMacinstrumentet är ett analysinstrument under utveckling som utnyttjar leviterade droppar på 100 nl ? 2 ?l. Genom att använda leviterade droppar med den omgivande atmosfären som enda kontaktyta, undviker LevMac?en de vanligaste problemen associerade med miniatyrisering av analytiska tekniker, t.ex. kontaminering av provet genom desorption från provbehållaren eller andra gränsytor, adsorption av analyten till omgivningen med minskat utbyte som följd, och optisk interferens vid väggarna av provbehållaren vilket resulterar i störningar av detektionen.Tillsatser till den leviterade droppen kan göras i pl-området och reaktioner i droppen kan följas med olika spektroskopiska tekniker.

Funktionshindrade personer har möjlighet att få sin bostad anpassad så ett de kan leva ett självständigt liv i ett eget boende. Anpassningen betalas av kommunen genom ett bostadsanpassningsbidrag. De senaste åren har, inom Norrköpings kommun, kostnaderna för bostadsanpassningsbidrag ökat kraftigt och överstigit den budget som tilldelats. Syftet med den här rapporten är att undersöka hur andra kommuner arbetar med handläggning och upphandling av bostadsanpassningsärenden. En del frågor rör även åldersfördelningen.

Detta arbete utgör magisterexamensarbete inom utveckling av betongstommar i flervånings- hus. Under de senaste åren har allt större intresse fokuserats på byggsektorns låga produktivitetsutveckling, höga kostnader, byggnadsvård, oförmåga att ta till sig befintlig kunskap och dåliga lönsamhet. Några stora byggprojekt har dessutom fått stort utrymme i media till följd av bl.a. omfattande byggfel. Den tidigare så förändringsobenägna byggsektorn visar nu tydlig vilja att förändras och förnyas.

Den ökning som sker av jordens temperatur beror enligt allt fler forskare på mänskliga utsläpp av växthusgaser. För att minska dessa utsläpp måste människan utveckla nya lösningar för att bo och leva. I byggbranschen diskuteras hur användning av energi till uppvärmning och varmvatten kan minskas. Detta ställer stora krav på konstruktion, installationer samt utförande. Ett hus som använder mindre energi är både en tillgång för den enskilde individen och för ett miljövänligare samhälle.

The governing set of regulations for structural engineering in Sweden used to be Boverket, BKR. However in the beginning of the 21st century a changeover to new regulations, the Eurocodes, started.The transition was completed in year 2011 when the Eurocodes became the mandatory design work policy for all countries within the European Union. The Eurocodes were implemented to simplify and remove potential barriers to trade that may exist when countries have different design rules.  Since the changeover it has been important for all construction companies to update their knowledge base and their design software.When comparing the two calculation processes they seem similar, but there are a couple of differences worth noting.  With the new regulations, engineers will find that the process when designing joints in timber structures has changed.  What used to be a fairly easy and straight forward calculation procedure has now become tedious and time consuming.The objective of this degree project is to present a product, a dimensioning tool that will help structural engineers when computing lateral load carrying joints in timber structures.The degree project is made up of two parts where the first part is the written report describing the background and theory behind load carrying computations. The second part of the project is the actual dimensioning tool which includes several worksheets in Microsoft Excel.
