This is a 15 hp (10 p) thesis in biology at the programme for Horticulture Management at the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences, Alnarp. In this literature study we have processed, reviewed and arranged facts and research, to make it more available for those who want to know more about establishment or cultivation of mosses. Our client is Fredriksdal?s Museums and Gardens in Helsingborg who are planning to establish a moss garden. The information is meant to be used by Fredriksdal and other similar facilities.

This master thesis is about a place that has a story to tell. Olsson?s garden came about when Mr Carl Oscar Olsson acquired a piece of land in Landalabergen in the beginning of the 1930's and at that time he started his industrious work of uniting much of Sweden's flora in his garden. Since the very beginning Olsson's garden has played a lot of different rolls in a variety of situations and meant different things for different people. Today one can find traces from Mr Olsson's life and deeds in the garden.

Urban farming can be viewed in several contexts. The first part of this work brings up the beneficial effects of farming on our physical and mental health, knowledge as well as on social life in cities. The introduction of gardening in schools can contribute to an increased awareness on both agricultural practices and importance as well as ecological processes. It can also be used in teaching of other subjects. Farming can also contribute to improving the household economy, and the economy on a municipal or national level.

Landscape architect is a profession that withholds varying tasks inside countries and between countries. In many countries the landscape architect profession does not exist. Spain is a country where the landscape architect profession is not recognized, and the professions that work with landscape architecture are architects, engineers, biologists and agronomists. "Paisajista", in English "Landscaper," is in Spain a common name for those who design Gardens and parks. Sweden is one of the countries with most landscape architects due to its population and the profession is well established.

Resultatet i tabellsammanställningen tyder på att Stowe har en stor betydelse i träd-gårdshistorien, eftersom den anses vara mycket tidstypisk för landskapsparkernas tids-period, med stöd av de studerade källorna.

The population growth and urbanisation in low-income countries bring issues of poor living standards and miserable sanitation conditions onto the agenda. If well-functioning waste management systems were developed, this could master some of the problems. The already existing local informal waste handling system that is common in many low-income countries, needs to be developed with proper sorting and composting solutions to decrease the environmental burden and improve the overall situation in the dense cities. This master?s thesis project is performed with the intention of developing functional decentralised waste management units in the city of Pune, India.

Lösningen finns i att planera och tänka på helheten om hur städerna på bästa sätt kan utformas med hjälp av funktionella öppna dagvattenlösningar för att ge en bra och effekt avrinning. Det gäller också att skapas förståelse att öppna dagvattensystem bidrar med positiva effekter till samhället, t.ex. genom att bli en resurs för stadens vegetation och grönområden och därav åstadkomma grönare och vackrare städer (Hållbar dag- och dränvattenhantering, 2011)och som gynnar folks hälsa(Viklander & Blecken 2012). Det urbana kretsloppet, skriver Butler & Davies (2011), ersätter en del av det naturliga kretsloppet och Lidström (2012) förklarar att det urbana kretsloppet lånar vatten från det naturliga och skapar då en extra loop för vattnets väg genom cirkel. Butler & Davies (2011) förklarar hur viktigt det är att det finns en förståelse kring konsekvenserna som uppstår när en del av det naturliga hydrologiska kretsloppet ersätts med en artificiell del för den urbana miljön.

My objective with the work, Travel Sketches, is to develop an approach to sketching as a landscape architect in connection with the field trip. Previous experiences and reference places are vital parts during the creation of new design proposals. It is by visiting and experiencing places that valuable knowledge is acquired. By sketching on site, with for example a pen and paper, a bank of reference objects will be established as well as an understanding of their practical success. Experiences and sketching are the basic tools of an architect.

Summary The estate of Johannishus is situated in the south of Sweden and in the province of Blekinge, about 8 kilometres from the city of Ronneby. The main building together with the park represents the province´s only example of a well preserved estate environment from the early 1800th Century, and was declared as a historic monument in 1982 because of its unique role in the province. Johannishus Park has during 300 years developed in close relation to the main building, the landscape and the surrounding infrastructure. Each century and owner has had an influence on the park, which has resulted in an interesting visible cross-section of 300 years of Swedish garden history. Most noticeable today are the traces from late 19th Century, but in its oldest parts the park contains structures from the early 18th Century.
