This study has been assigned by Bengt Hellman who works at the logistic department at IKEA Torsvik just outside of Jönköping. The task has been to develop a new picking strategy for the Oversize area in the CDC-Warehouse. The reason why IKEA wants a new strategy is because they want to minimize the route length for the forklifts when collecting the orders.By evaluating the current strategies on other areas in the CDC-storehouse, study literature within this subject and look at restrictions for the storing of goods, we have analyzed how the Oversize area works today. We compared the gathered information, to how it should be done according to the literature to be able to work out a new functional strategy.Today, IKEA does not have a working strategy for the oversize area because of lack of time and because all the power has been put on other areas were sales rates are currently higher. This have led to lack of organisation at the Oversize area and items are just put were there is space without first analysing were it should be placed.The strategy that we have worked out and introduced to IKEA builds on easiness of understanding the layout, the employees shall know why an item is placed where it is.

Few would disagree that the media landscape has undergone significant changes the last decade. From bulky computers and plain mobile phones to portable High-Definition computers and multi-functional smartphones. Other media, such as newspapers and music, have evolved and prospered in a digitalized environment. The constant urge to digitalize aspects and functions of our daily lives seems almost instinctive. Television has taken further steps into this environment as it is now accepted and featured via the Internet.

Background: Fall injuries are a costly problem for society, with costs ranging up to 14 billion a year. In addition to economic loss accidental falls also creates human value losses and reduced quality of life for its victims. In order to prevent the occurrence of injury related to accidental falls healthcare providers utilize various scientifically developed risk assessment tools, one of them being Downton Fall Risk Index. Method: Empirical, quantitative cross-sectional study. Objective: The purpose of the extended essay was to describe the categories in Downton Fall Risk Index that have a bearing on patients' risk of falling while in hospital and in municipal care, and to illustrate how nurses can use the fall risk assessment tool.

The health care sector is one of the most information-intensive institutions in Sweden. Big investments in information technology have been made to ensure efficiency and quality within organisations in health care. This has led to high requirements in documentation and resulted in an increase in administration which gradually more often is done by nurses and doctors. A major problem is that it is difficult to gain access to the information recorded in all the different systems, which is their objective. This causes double documentation instead of being a support in follow-up performance.

The subject of this thesis is studying how physical libraryenvironments express ideas on the function of the library, asstated in guiding documents. The ?physical library? isdefined as everything inside the library building, andexcludes the library architecture, focusing on things likefurniture, furnishing and the arrangement of physical media.The two questions asked in this thesis are: What aspects ofthe idea of a public library?s function, as expressed in theguiding documents of the library, are possible to study in thephysical library environment? In what ways can theseaspects be studied in the physical library environment?The study of the thesis is divided into two parts, a ?prestudy?and a ?main study?. In the pre-study aspects areidentified by reading guiding documents from differentpublic libraries, and analysing the result together withprevious studies on physical library environments. In themain study three Swedish public libraries (located inHelsingborg, Åstorp and Klippan) are visited, and theirenvironments are studied based on theory on what items andmeans of expression can influence the experience of thelibrary function.The four aspects that are identified in the pre-study areculture, education, accessibility, and development.According to the results of the main study, culture isexpressed in the library environment through aesthetics,education through the environment being inviting andstimulating for studies, accessibility by the environmentbeing inviting, functional and democratic, and developmentby modernity.

I denna uppsats presenteras en textanalytisk studie av ett urval pressmeddelanden från organisationen Djurens Rätt. Studiens syfte är att undersöka hur Djurens Rätt positionerar sig bland de deltagare som beskrivs i deras pressmeddelanden. Djurens Rätt är en ideell och idéburen organisation vilket gör det intressant att undersöka hur dessa förhåller sig till andra aktörer i samhället i sina pressmeddelanden. Studien ut-går teoretiskt och metodologiskt främst från den systemisk-funktionella grammati-ken med fokus på det ideationella och erfarenhetsmässiga. Utöver detta är även positioneringsbegreppet och Greimas aktantmodell centrala för studien.

Uppsatsen är en studie av Funktionell Familjeterapi (FFT). Syftet var att undersöka om en FFT-behandling innebar en förändring för en ungdom och dennes föräldrar avseende deras beskrivning av familjeklimatet och dyaderna inom familjen. Målgruppen utgjordes av 29 familjer som under åren 2011-2013 avslutat en FFT-behandling på Ungdomscentrum, Uppsala kommun. Familjerna hade fyllt i självskattningsformulären Frågor om Familjemedlemmar och Familjeklimat före och efter behandlingen. Resultatet visade ett flertal statistiskt signifikanta skillnader vilket stämde överens med tidigare forskning av modellen, både internationellt och nationellt.

Metoder och modeller är viktiga redskap för att utreda såväl potentiella risker som uppkomna olyckor i sociotekniska system. Vilken modell som används avgör vad en analys tittar på och också vilka åtgärder som vidtas. Därför är arbetet med att utveckla både användbara och riktiga modeller viktigt.Denna uppsats har med ett systemperspektiv tillämpat FRAM på en avgränsad del av ett flygtrafikledningssystem med avsikten att skapa förståelse för ett systems funktionalitet och kontextberoende variabilitet. För att illustrera variabiliteten beskrivs ett par scenarion med koppling till insamlad data.Modelleringen har skapats utifrån en triangulering av insamlad data och i resultat och diskussion lyfts framförallt tillämpningen av själva modellen upp för diskussion. Slutsatsen av studien är att modellen kan adressera risker genom att illustrera den dynamiska interaktionen i ett sociotekniskt system samt att modellen utgör ett stöd för att identifiera åtgärder i flygledningssystemet.Slutsatsen är också att modellen som är relativt ung behöver utvecklas på vissa områden för att tydliggöra hur funktioner för dynamiska och informationsbearbetande system generellt kan konstrueras på bästa sätt för att återge tillstånd och processer.

The aim of this master?s thesis is to study the discourses on culture as developed by EU Commission. The method applied is a discoursebased historical analysis, where analysis of arguments and metaphors are functional to the enlightening of the construction of discourses within EU cultural policy. EU official documents constitute the empirical material studied. The theoretical framework of the thesis draws upon cultural public sphere theory as well instrumentalist cultural policy research.

SammanfattningFrån och med den 1 januari år 2005 ska samtliga börsnoterade företag redovisa efter IFRS. Detta innebär bland annat att goodwill inte längre är föremål för planenlig avskrivning utan skall istället årligen testas för nedskrivningsbehov. Innan företaget kan göra ett nedskrivningstest måste all goodwill först ha fördelats ut på de kassagenererande enheter som väntas bli gynnade av synergierna i förvärvet. Därefter värderas goodwill med hjälp av lämplig värderingsmodell. Det största problemet för företagen med den nya goodwillhanteringen är att urskilja de olika kassagenererande enheterna.Uppsatsens syfte är att få en förståelse för den komplexitet som uppstår för företagen vid arbetsprocessen med de kassagenererande enheterna och frågeställningarna den ämnar besvara är; Hur organiserar företagen arbetsprocessen med de kassagenererande enheterna, från det att en goodwillpost har uppstått tills det att den fördelats ut över berörda kassagenererande enheter samt testats för nedskrivning? och Vad är företagens åsikter om regeländringarna i goodwillhanteringen?För att kunna besvara uppsatsens frågeställningar har fem djupintervjuer genomförts med företag noterade på Stockholmsbörsens O-lista, Attract 40.

Queer theory is used to look at how gender is constructed and how one can look at, and question, gender and gender hierarchies.

In Uppsala, Sweden, Vattenfall has a combined heat and power plant. On the premises there is an engineering workshop with old fluorescent and mercury lamps that need to be replaced. This provides a great opportunity to save energy and money by installing more efficient lighting. The main purpose of this study was to present two functional and energy efficient lighting systems including control system. The lighting systems were designed by investigating the working environment, measuring illuminance and by simulations in the software DIALux.

Uppsatsens syfte är att presentera ett synsätt över hur ledaren kan främja kreativa processer på reklambyråer. För att skapa detta synsätt behöver förståelsen om kreativa processer i en reklambyrå ökas. Studien utgår från att kreativa processer föranleder kreativ reklam. Vi vill understryka att vi både har ett teoretiskt och ett praktiskt syfte.Metoden är en kvalitativ mikroetnografisk studie. Uppsatsens empiriska insamling består av cirka 100 timmar observationer på en reklambyrå följt av fem kvalitativa djupintervjuer på samma byrå.

This study has been made to evaluate if there is a significant difference between non-estral intact versus ovariohysterectomized queens in their production of estradiol after exogenous gonadotrophin-releasing hormone stimulation. The purpose is to find a tool, which can help to diagnose if a free-roaming queen is already ovariohysterectomized or not. There are also other situations where this tool could be useful, for example to diagnose the ovarian remnant syndrome. Previous studies in bitches have shown that GnRH-stimulation is an excellent tool to diagnose the presence of ovaries in the bitch. Eleven ovariohysterectomized and eleven intact queens have been included in this study where we have analyzed plasma estradiol and progesterone concentrations before and after a single intramuscular injection of the GnRH agonist buserelin (Receptal?).

This thesis within the field of Integrated Product development at the Royal Insitute ofTechnology, performed at Primary Development Dishcare at AB Electrolux, is supposed to finda solution to enhance the hygiene inside an Electrolux dishwasher. The outcomes of this thesisare functional prototypes to evaluate the efficiency of disinfection by the use of Ultra VioletLight and Ozone.The thesis has followed Electrolux Primary Development process, with delivarables andcheckpoints.Ultra violett light with a wavelength of around 264 nm penetrates through the cell wall ofbacteria and micro organisms and causes a molecular rearrangement of the cells DNA. Thisprevent the bacteria from reproducing and it is considered dead. Commonly used UV-C lampstransmits the wavelength 254 nm which is very close to the optimum for germicidal action.A competitive brand have reacently launched a dishwasher claiming to achieve greaterdisinfection with an UV feature. This dishwasher was tested during the thesis and proven tohave a very low effect on the hygienic result.Two prototypes were devolped and tested for UV disinfection of dishware.
