Issues regarding the environment are commonly discussed in the media. The most common problem that is discussed is how to decrease the emissions of greenhouse gases by human beings. The municipality of Kristianstad has chosen to work with a project named ?Biogas Kristianstad? which purposes are to use all of the produced biogas as motor Fuel and to speed up the introduction of biogas on the local market. This is in an effort to decrease the effects on the environment in the municipality of Kristianstad.

The purpose of this study has been to evaluate whether a Low temperature bio-mass dryer could be integrated with the local district heating system in Malå. The aim is to increase the thermal efficiency of the cogeneration plant in Malå, by lowering the temperature of the cooling medium. Another benefit that comes from this is improved combustion efficiency at the power plant, since drying the Fuel causes an Increase of the heating value.Simulations has been made in Excel, and with use of linear regression, to find out if it is profitable. Data for this purpose has been supplied by the power company Skellefteåkraft and furthermore SMHI.The result of the Calculations shows that a very efficient bio-mass dryer is needed, if yield of investments should be made possible. An Investment of 4,27 Mkr, in a dryer, could at a such criterium return 60000 kr/year, if the price of the biomass is 190kr/MWh.

The increased travelling of today makes nodes along travelling routes more and more important. This is very much the case of petrol stations. They constitute important nodes in the road network, filling up thirsty Fuel tanks and hungry stomachs, guiding road users and providing vehicle-services. In this thesis the role of the petrol station for road users was investigated in order to find out if the petrol station was a potential hot spot. We performed an ethnographic field study at a petrol station and found that a great number of visitor activities took place at the petrol station.

The use of renewable resources is rapidly increasing in Sweden, especially the use of Fuel pellets. Through pelletizing the energy content per volume unit is greatly increased and the pellets are more homogeneous with regard to moisture content, particle size and density compared to unrefined Fuels like forest residues and chips. For further development of the Swedish pellet industry, the use of different assortments from lodgepole pine (Pinus contorta Dougl. var. latifolia) is of particular interest, mainly because of its high volume production.

Husqvarna AB uppmärksammade att det kommer införas nya miljöregler i Kalifornien gällande diffusionsutsläpp. De åkgräsklippare som går under namnet Rider och tillverkas av Husqvarna idag uppfyller ej dessa krav. Dagens bränsletank är tillverkad i plastmaterialet HDPE och avdunstande bränsleångor klättrar lätt igenom tankväggen ut i atmosfären vilket ej är tillåtet enligt de nya reglerna. Vi blev tillfrågade om vi kunde lösa problematiken och ta fram ett system som kontrollerar de avdunstade bränsleångorna och se till att detta system uppfyller de krav som ställs i Kalifornien. Som blivande ingenjörer tyckte vi att detta var ett passande examensarbete med många olika områden involverade som materialkunskap, tillverkningsprocesser, produktutveckling samt inblick i ett större företags arbete. Vi har med detta examensarbete tagit fram ett system som minskar det miljövådliga diffusionsutsläppet med cirka 90 %.

Denna studie avser att ta reda på om någon förändrad effekt kan fås gällande bränsleförbrukning och emissioner då dieselolja strömmar igenom ett magnetiskt fält innan det förbränns i en dieselmotor som driver en generator. Utrustningen som ger upphov till magnetfältet har tillhandahållits av ett kommersiellt företag. Studien består av två delar, en teoretisk del och en praktisk del. I den teoretiska delen presenteras tidigare vetenskapliga studier inom ämnet samt hur tillverkaren av utrustningen menar att tekniken fungerar. I den praktiska delen har tester gällande rökgasemissioner och bränsleförbrukning gjorts.

Husqvarna AB always strive to develop and improve new and existing products and components to ensure an attractive product and a competitive position on today?s market One of these components is filled balances. This is a component unique to the company and is one of the parts in their Fuel-powered chainsaws.

The dry out criterion (MCPR) has been calculated for the most limiting H2-events for Forsmarks unit 2 and 3, at operating points that are normally not analyzed before each cycle. The operating points that normally are regarded as the ones with the lowest margin to dry out are the ones where the thermal power is the highest at agiven recirculation flow. This report shows that this is not the case for Forsmark 3. MCPR-values at partial power operating points are higher for the limiting case inside rather than on the boundary of the region of operation. It is therefore recommended that the method for determining the dry out criterion for Forsmark 3 is revised to account for this effect.

The aim of this study was to investigate how seasonal variations affect the quality of logging residues. The study was hosted by VIDA Energy. Logging residues can be processed and transported within different systems. Today the dominant systems are chipping at landing and bulk transportation of logging residues. In these systems the handling of the logging residues are carried out in the same manner up to the landings. Moisture content at the time of chipping is the primary quality parameter. Fine fractions of logging residues are strongly dependent on moisture content in storage.
