?Fröknarna von Pahlen?, is a series of novels written by the author Agnes von Krusenstjerna. Especially the fourth and fifth parts, published in 1933, raised questions about sexuality, especially about what was conceived as perverse and provoking descriptions. ?Fröknarna von Pahlen? became a part of heated debates about what is acceptable to write about.

The aim of this thesis was to investigate the possibility of integrating an item tracking systemwith a monitoring system currently under development at Fifth Generation Technologies (P) Ltd.A literature study of RFID technology and the networks ZigBee and MiWi was done. Based onthe literature study a concept for a distributed system was developed.The concept is to have several RFID readers placed in the area where tracking is to be performedand allow them to communicate with each other through wireless communication. The RFIDreaders shall be able to form zones and filter the data that is forwarded from the zones to theservers and thus perform some of the work that the server would normally have to do. Theconcept has been evaluated by prototype development and testing. The prototype uses an ultrahigh frequency RFID reader and a MiWi network.The test indicated some limitations with the selected technologies.

The aim of this study was to investigate if behaviour, ear positions and cortisol in lamb which were given access to play followed the different phases of the reward cycle of anticipation, consumption and relaxation. The study was done on 8 Dorset and 12 Dorset x Fine Wool uncastrated male lambs with an average age of 10 weeks. The lambs were housed pairwise in litter pens (2 x 3 m). Pairs of lambs were taken to a play arena (5.9 x 5.5 m) three times a week during five weeks (first week for learning). They were then first kept in a holding pen where they could look into the play arena for 5 minutes and thereafter released for 20 minutes in the play arena which had a ball, two chains and a tunnel.

AbstractKlimatpiloterna är ett projekt utformat av Kalmars kommun. Projektets mål är att skapa kunskap kring en klimatsmart livsstil. Studien syftar till att skapa en fördjupad förståelse för deltagarna i projektet klimatpiloterna. Förståelse för deltagarnas attityder och värderingar kring miljöfrågor utifrån moral, ansvar och livspolitik. Klimatpiloternas miljömedvetenhet undersöks genom kvalitativa intervjuer.

Skogen räknas som en förnybar resurs, men avskogning kan ändå drabba även de tidigare mest skogsbeklädda områdena. Avskogning ger upphov till stora koldioxidutsläpp och förlust av ekosystemtjänster. Med återplantering kan dock ny skog kompensera för tidigare uttag och en god skogsskötsel kan ge en resurs som gynnar både dagens och kommande generationer. Investeringskostnader i skogen kan upplevas som en stor utgift för dagens generation, då avkastningen kan komma att infalla flera generationer senare. I Sverige styrs dock skogsbruket av Skogsvårdslagen (1979:429) och i denna studie riktas uppmärksamheten framförallt på återplanteringsskyldigheten.

The purpose of this thesis is to examine why graduates in librarian- and information science are employed by private companies. An initial explanation could be the influence of information technology and its impact on the librarian. A second factor relates to how employers regard the librarian outside the confines of the traditional labour market. The study is primarily based upon qualitative interviews with representatives of Swedish companies who have employed librarians since 1993, the year that the education achieved third level academic recognition. Theoretically we relied upon Manuel Castells discussion on the rise of the information society and its influence on companies and the labour market.

This thesis was performed at Indusec ABin Stockholm. Indusec AB is a companythat develops security solutions.Together with the Police of Sweden theyhave gotten the assignment to develop anapplication based on one of theiralready existing product Inferno soundbarrier. This application is supposed tobe mounted on a ballistic shield thatthe police use, the application consistsof a speaker box (the sound barrier) anda trigger with wire. The trigger withwire is the part that will be addressedin this thesis. The application willthen be used as a tool to surprise atarget at various skirmishes.The project consists of three majorphases, pre-study, concept generationand modeling.

Personliga beslut om sparande drivs av många olika motiv, några är, behovet av att bygga upp tillgångar för att finansiera konsumtion under den senare delen av livet, osäkerhet om framtiden och att spara åt nästa generation. Sparandet för konsumtion under pensionsåren är generellt ansett som det viktigaste motivet till att spara. En faktor som ger ett ökat intresse för att studera sparande ärden åldrande befolkningen i de rika delarna av världen. Medelåldern i Europa stiger och befolkningen blir äldre och lever längre.Resultaten visade att inflationen var den variabel som har störst påverkan på sparkvoten. Inte långt efter kom variablerna arbetslöshet, inkomsttillväxt och handelsbalans.

Digitizing objects and environments from real world has become an important part of creating realistic computer graphics. Through the use of structured lighting and laser time-of-flight measurements the capturing of geometric models is now a common process. The result are visualizations where viewers gain new possibilities for both visual and intellectual experiences. This thesis presents the reconstruction of the Parthenon temple and its environment in Athens, Greece by using a 3D laser-scanning technique. In order to reconstruct a realistic model using 3D scanning techniques there are various phases in which the acquired datasets have to be processed.

The purpose of this BA-thesis is to examine how many girls, boys, women and men who appear in children?s programmes in the years 1978, 1992 and 2007. We have also studied if they are described as typical gender role stereotypes and we have looked at the power conditions between girls and boys, women and men and children and adults. From the results we then examined the changes through out the years. We have made this possible by choosing two days each year when most children were watching the programmes.With the gender role theory we have brought up the important issue of the fact that men appear more frequently in media then women and by doing so the media preserve men as the standard gender.

This study will identify the environmental impact in terms of carbon dioxide for a boiler house on behalf of Kvänum energi. The boiler central consists of a main building, which in turn contains multiple components such as boilers, pipes, etc, the boiler central uses pellets fuel. It also includes a silo and an ash container. The total weight of the boiler is about 63 tons. Each boiler has an output of 600 kW; the central includes three boilers with room for a fourth if necessary.

Youth unemployement in Sweden is at an all-time high, a fifth of all university and college students live in poverty and the number of young on welfare is increasing. This study attempts to answer the question of how youth deprivation has been made possible as a consequence of political action, focusing on youth unemployment. I critically examine the role of the Swedish government, the Swedish Labour Organisation (LO), and the various government departments through text analysis, in order to answer the question of how the current discourse on youth position in the labor market. Because youth unemployment is not an isolated phenomena the analysis covers several policy areas, such as education policy, labor market regulation and housing policy. I use discourse theories drawn from Laclau and Mouffe to expose how language is used as an instrument of political power. I conclude that the current situation is a result of policy choices where the young have fallen behind due to lack of political organization. Their situation is not problematized to the required degree and is often explained on an individual level rather than on a structural level. .

Syftet med denna studie är att undersöka hur olika yrkeskategorier inom äldreomsorgen arbetar med HBTQ-frågor. Studien baseras på kvalitativa intervjuer och inkluderar fem informanter med olika arbetsuppgifter inom äldreomsorgen. Resultaten från intervjuerna har analyserats utifrån olika teman i en intervjuguide, med hjälp av queerteorin. Intervjuernas resultat visar att HBTQ-frågor inte blir belysta som enskilda frågor, men skulle vid behov kunna diskuteras under mångfalds- och jämlikhetsfrågor. Informanterna beskrev vikten av ett gott bemötande, oavsett vilken läggning brukaren hade.

Den dominerande implementationen av POSIX Threads-standarden för Linux har länge varit LinuxThreads. Detta trådbibliotek har på senare tid kritiserats för att leverera bland annat bristfällig effektivitet, skalbarhet och följsamhet till POSIX-standarden. Två nya projekt, Next Generation POSIX Threads (IBM, Intel) och Native POSIX Threads Library (Red Hat) siktar på att erbjuda bättre alternativ till LinuxThreads.Denna undersökning jämför effektiviteten för dessa tre trådbibliotek, i synnerhet i samband med växling, skapande och synkronisering av trådar samt skalbarhet, huvudsakligen genom användandet av ett testprogram från Sun Microsystems.Resultaten visar att NGPT skalar linjärt och är det klart effektivaste trådbiblioteket över 4600 trådar. NPTL är effektivast under 4600 trådar fast dess exponentiella kurva medför sämre resultat vid ett högre antal trådar. LinuxThreads skalade sämst och fick sämst resultat över 1200 trådar och resultaten visade även högst varians.

The objective of this thesis was to present a design proposal on a modular mechanicalstructure for a nanosatellite. The size of the structure should follow the CubeSatstandards. This standard divides satellites in units (U), where 1U is equivalent to acube where sides measure 100 mm. 2U corresponds to the same volume and size as2 assembled 1U structures, and so on. The focus was to develop a structure in theorder of 3U and 6U.At the integration in the satellite launch rocket, there are a couple of differentinterfaces, where the structure is adapted to common ones; P-POD and CSD.
