This exam paper has examined visual portrayals of overweight and fatness in two swedish upper secondary school textbooks, one in physical education and one in social science. The textbooks were analyzed in regard to numeral representation, interacting social categories such as gender and age, depiction in forms of activities and stereotypes and relation to context close to or far away from a swedish context. The analysis showed an underrepresentation of overweight and fat bodies in both textbooks, but the represention of overweight bodies in the textbook on physical education were nearly nil whereas in the textbook on social science there where representations of both overweight and fat bodies. Combined the both textbooks gave a representation of health and youth as not represented by overweight or fat bodies..

Den här rapporten presenterar processen och resultatet av mitt examesarbete i Industridesign på bachelor-nivå vid Umeå Institute of Design. Projektet har handlat om att ta fram ett koncept för att ladda mobiltelefoner i offentliga miljöer som flygplatser och tågstationer. Tänk dig in i scenariot att du är på flygplatsen, ditt flyg är försenat, du har slut på batteri i mobiltelefonen, du har glömt laddaren till telefonen hemma och du är dålig på att komma ihåg telefonnummer. Bergslagets museum is one of the oldest industrial museums in Sweden. It opened in 1922 in Falun, by the big mining company Stora Kopparbergs Bergslags Aktiebolag. This is a study of why a company would be interested in running a museum, why Bergslagets museum opened and who the people were that created it.Several persons were involved in collecting and organizing the models of old machinery, letters, paintings, pictures that was to become the Bergslagets museum. This paper shows different motives behind the opening of an industrial museum in Falun and gives a presentation of its superintendants, Carl Sahlin, Alvar Silow, Erik Johan Ljungberg and Olof Söderberg. In this paper I will present my research about different kinds of social workers, and there way of looking at and working with adolescents alcohol use. To get my result, we interviewed eight social workers from four different organizations. The Interview participants were people working with adolescents on their spare time, and in the school environment. There were also participants representing social services and the police. The theory that we have chosen to apply to our thesis is systems theory.

The purpose of this study is to describe the motivations of women to participate in politics and to examine whether women feel that they are held back by something in their political participation. The questions of this study are:How do women motivate their participation in different fields in politics?Are there any obstacles that are holding women back in their political participation? Interviews have been used as the method to gather the empirical data. When applying the theoretical framework on the empirical material the main conclusion is that women tend to participate more frequently in political activities that are less time consuming and more sporadic in comparison to more traditional forms of political participation. A research of 14 toxic affected study sites in Sweden showed a significant increased proportion of deformed diatoms. The six metal polluted study sites in the region of Dalarna showed a 4, 2% average of deformed Fragilaria (deformed diatoms reference sites, 0, 1%). The results also indicate a significant increased proportions of deformed diatoms in the eight pesticide polluted sites in the south and middle of Sweden, compared to the reference sites, howsoever the toxic content was low. The results indicate that there are no lager differences in neither teratological forms nor variations that segregate metal polluted and pesticide polluted shells. One of the reasons may be that both heavy metals and pesticides can affect the development of the diatom shell..

Simplicity, intimacy, freedom and one single threadcharacterize the knitting technique.In my project, I have studied ways of creating three-dimensional shape and structure using single threads and various knitting techniques. I applied my ideas in a collaboration with the singer Sofia Karlsson. The focus has been to design a portable object that can be used in pictures for the cover and promotion of her upcoming album.The material I studied, processed and used in creating the three-part object was linen. In the center stands a collar, that changes expression depending on how it is worn and which side is turned towards the outside. The collar interacts with a cylinder for her hands and a hairnet.

Creating a database to manage medical data is not the easiest. We create a database to be used for a presentation tool that presents medical data about patients that is stored in the database. We examine which of the three databases, MySQL with relational design, MySQL with EAV design and MongoDB that are best suited for storing medical data. The analysis i performed in two steps. The first step handles the database that is most effective to retriev data. The second step examines how easy it is to change the structure of the various databases. The results show that depending on whether efficiency or maintenance is most important, different databases are the best choise. MySQL with relational design proves to be most effective while MongoDB is the easiest to maintain..

In this thesis I examine the development and expansion of judicial power in Sweden. The concept of judicial review is defined and related to democratic theory, and the various forms of judicial review in use in Sweden are explained. The main focus is on the political and scientific discussion concerning judicial review since the mid 1970s. It is shown that judicial review so far has been used only to a limited extent and that the number of court cases has remained quite stable over time. The main cause of judicialization seems to be the supremacy of EU law following the Swedish EU membership in 1995 and the inclusion of the European Convention on Human Rights into Swedish law.

Syftet med denna uppsats är att belysa folkbibliotekens arbete med crossoverlitteratur samt vilka möjligheter begreppet och fenomonet ger biblioteken, främst när det kommer till marknadsföring. De tre forskninsfrågorna rörde definition av crossoverlitteratur, placering och marknadsföring av crossoverlitteratur samt presentation av crossoverlitteratur i bibliotekskatalogen. De besvaras genom kvalitativa semistrukturerade telefonintervjuer med bibliotekarier på sex olika bibliotek samt genom en granskning av några crossovertitlar i bibliotekens kataloger. Slutsatser som drogs var att det är ett svårdefinierat begrepp och att litteraturen fortfarande värderas olika beroende vilken den tilltänkta åldersgruppen är. Det är fortfarande en tydlig indelning mellan ungdom och vuxen på de flesta bibliotek när det gäller placering och marknadsföring, men bibliotekarierna skulle vilja att gränsen blev mindre tydlig..

Syftet med undersökningen är att ta reda på hur man arbetar med TIL- programmet i kommunens olika skolor och här även göra en jämförande studie. Med denna metod vill man på ett tidigt stadium upptäcka och påbörja arbete med de elever som behöver extra hjälp med läsinlärning. Jag har inlett mitt arbete med en presentation av olika metoder inom läsinlärning i den svenska skolan. Här presenteras även TIL- programmet. Som metod har jag använt kvalitativa intervjuer med sex pedagoger, specialläraren på varje skola inom kommunen på grundskolans tidigare år.
