No-fly Zones have been used in three recent conflicts. For every intervention the time taken to achieve the end-state has decreased. It took twelve years in Iraq, three years in Bosnia and only nine months in Libya. NATO was part of the intervention in both Bosnia and Libya, facing almost the same size of opponent, but it took them four times longer to achieve the end-state in Bosnia compared to Libya. The purpose of this essay is to analyze this difference in the time taken to achieve the end-state with a structured focused comparison of Bosnia and Libya based on Robert Pape´s theory of coercion with a focus on No-fly Zones. The results show that the mandate can explain the difference. In Libya NATO had the opportunity, due to the mandate, to use pre-emptive strikes, which they did not have in Bosnia.

This is a qualitative case study about tourists and boat migrants in movement to and in place on the Canary Islands, Spain. The aim is to study how these two groups of guests are treated differently, either as guests or strangers, based on how they move, illegally or legally, where they come from and where they have rights to go. To analyze the case I use theories of how differences in ethnicity, culture and religion etc. are created and recreated in society in interactions among humans and in the politics - the politics of difference. The politics of difference creates and recreates categories of mobility such as tourists and boat migrants.

As the volumes are entering the world of computer graphics the pure volume visualisation becomes a more important tool in for example research and medical applications. But the advance in haptics --- force feedback from the computer --- is behind. In volume haptics no equal to the proxy method so popular in surface haptics has yet emerged. Some implementations of volume haptics even use surfaces as intermediate representations so that surface haptics can be used.The intention of this work was to create natural feeling haptic feedback from volumetric density data using pure volume haptics. The haptic algorithm would be implemented in Reachin API for the Reachin Desktop Display, together with other parts to build up a usable volume visualisation environment.To achieve the feeling of stiffness and friction dependent on tissue type, a proxy based method was developed.

The post-modern western city is going through two central changes in the organization of paid labour. One is the switch from production of goods to production of services, and the other is the increasing rift between well-paid labour with permanent jobs, and temporarily employed workers with low wages. Both of these processes are rasified and gendered, and strike harder against women, young persons and people of emigrant background. The flexible capitalism creates an informalization of the economy, breaking with earlier regulations of the labour markets, in which workers also need to find informal strategies in their individual and collective struggles. In this paper, I search for these ?new? experiences of living and working in late capitalist society, by doing open interviews with three women of Latin-American origin, working without official permission (without documents) in the informal economy of Stockholm.

Uppsatsen undersöker inledningsvis om FOI:s principer för kravformulering kan anses behöva kompletteras mot bakgrund av Försvarsmaktens behov och undersöker därefter kvalitén i några av flygvapnets kravunderlag relativt principerna för kravformulering. Av resultatet framgår att principerna kan behöva kompletteras med principerna prioritering och kontextuell beskrivning. Av fallstudiernas resultat framgår att kvalitén i flygvapnets kravunderlag relativt principerna för kravformulering generellt är låg, att den varierar mellan underlagen och att den i vissa fall är mycket låg i fråga om uppfyllnad av principerna. Uppsatsen rekommenderar att FOI:s principer för kravformulering utökas med principerna prioritering och kontextuell beskrivning. Vidare rekommenderas flygvapnet att öka kvalitén i framtida kravformuleringarna så att den militära nyttan av arbete med kravformulering även kan öka.

Slaget vid Goose Green var det första slaget att äga rum på land under Falklandskriget. Slaget ägde rum under ett par dagar i slutet av maj 1982 mellan brittiska 2 Para och argentinska Task force Mercedes och slutade med en argentinsk kapitulation. In the following essay I have read the drama Natten är dagens mor (The Night is the Day's Mother) by Lars Norén. My main focus has been on the older brother Georg. By using post structuralist gender theories I have sought answers to the following two questions: How is Georg's masculinity constructed and maintained, when seen from a gender perspective? What power structures arise between Georg's and the other men's masculinities? In my analysis I have approached Georg via three perspectives. First, I have by the help of Judith Butler's theory concerning gender performative actions tried to define the men's gender codes.

Bakgrunden till studien är att vikten på den enskilda soldaten ökar allt mer vilket reducerar rörligheten. Om soldaten bär för tungt ökar risken för att verkan inte kan avges på rätt plats i rätt tid på grund av minskad rörlighet. Terrängen som amfibiesoldaten verkar i medför att stor del av striden sker till fots vilket torde betyda att rörligheten borde vara prioriterat för soldaten. Syftet med uppsatsen är att undersöka om rörlighet har varit prioriterat, för en amfibieskyttesoldat när den bedriver strid till fots, gentemot vikten på och plutonens anpassning av verkans- och skyddsutrustning. A new type of device for measuring thev m& ?rate of fuel sprays from a diesel fuel injector has been developed and the various steps in the development are described. The device works by deflecting all of the sprays from the injector at the same time by using a bell shaped deflector. A load cell consisting of a machined steel part with strain gauges mounted on it measures the resulting force. The shape of the curvature in the deflector bell shape has been evaluated by photographing the flow in a 2D?version of the curve shape.

Ishockey är en explosiv idrott och plyometriska övningar främjar explosiviteten, en ishockeyspelare behöver explosiv styrka för att prestera på isen. Syftet med den genomförda studien var att genom ett sammanlagt nio veckor långt plyometriskt träningsprogram, under off-season perioden, undersöka effekten på accelerationsförmåga, snabbhet i riktningsförändringar och kraftutveckling i nedre extremiteterna hos manliga juniorishockeyspelare. Totalt deltog åtta manliga juniorishockeyspelare. I undersökningen användes mätinstrumenten Harres test, Muscle Lab model 4000 (Ergotest Technology, Norge), 10 meter Sprint test och Power and Force explosiv knäböjning i Smith-maskin. Resultatet visade på signifikanta samband mellan för- och eftertestet för riktningsförändringar.

Security Council resolution 1325 (2000) is about women, peace and security. Since the resolution was adopted several countries has made their own National Action Plan for implementation of the resolution.Sweden and Denmark are two of these countries. Resolution 1325 is one of the documents that each countries armed force has to relate to in international work.These countries can get to work together in international operations within the framework of the Nordic Defense Cooperation, NORDEFCO. This study is done by looking at similarities and differences in the action plans and whether they can be an obstacle for the countries to cooperate in an international operation.In this paper a comparative analysis of Sweden and Denmark's plans for the Security Council resolution 1325 will be done.
