The aim of this thesis is to study how the recent introduction of video games in Swedish public libraries compares to past introductions of other medias, namely music records, sequential art, manga (Japanese comics), and films on video. In what ways does the introduction of video games differ from the other examples of introductions and in what ways are they alike? In what manner have the medias been introduced? How does the librarians views on video games differ from their views on other medias? The purpose of doing this is that by investigating how new medias have been evaluated in the past, we might gain an understanding of how the introduction of video games links into that tradition. Theoretically, this thesis is grounded in Sanna Talja?s theory of the interpretative repertoires of the music library.

Undervisningen i matematik i gymnasieskolan domineras av att eleverna fÄr arbeta med de uppgifter som ingÄr i ett visst lÀromedel. Dessa uppgifter Àr ofta av rutinkaraktÀr dÀr lösningsprocessen inte ses lika viktig som om svaret Àr korrekt eller inte. Min erfarenhet Àr att elever fÄr svÄrigheter nÀr de skall lösa matematiska textuppgifter, d.v.s. uppgifter som inte Àr av den rutinkaraktÀr som de uppgifter lÀromedlet domineras av. Syftet med min studie Àr dÀrför att undersöka vilka svÄrigheter gymnasieelever har vid arbetet med matematiska textuppgifter.

Master thesis studying the use of multimedia on CD-ROM in a library setting by analysis ofqualitative interviews with nineteen persons.The thesis relates the study to some relevant issues in human-computer interface (HCI) researchand to the commercial market for multimedia CD-ROM products. Three main types ofuse were described by the persons interviewed: recreational, information seeking and usingmultimedia to learn more about using computers. Children and young people interviewed mademost use of the multimedia provided, whereas adults thought it to be less valuable as a sourceof knowledge for them personally.HCI research shows various results of using multimedia for educational purposes. Thecommercial market is dominated by American products which can have a negative effect onthe use of multimedia in Swedish public libraries..

Vilken typ av organisationsstruktur Àr lÀmplig för FTK?Syfte: Denna studie syftar till att analysera och beskriva FTK:s uppgifter och organisationsstruktur samt föreslÄ en lÀmplig organisationsstruktur för FTK. Detta görs mot bakgrund av utvald litteratur om organisationsstruktur inom fÀltet organisationsteori.Teori och modell: FTK:s uppgifter har analyserats med utgÄngspunkt i de utformningsparametrar och situationsvariabler som Mintzberg introducerat för att vÀlja organisationsstruktur. Dessa har sedan analyserats mot följande tre utvalda organisationsstrukturer: professionell byrÄkrati, processorienterad organisation med team-baserad struktur och projektorganisation.Metod: Kvalitativ studie, respondentintervjuerResultat: FTK:s uppgifter befanns ha en grundlÀggande bas som omfattar ledning av luftstridskrafter, men inom ramen för detta finns ocksÄ stora skillnader mellan de uppgifter som löses. The aim of this BachelorÂŽs thesis is to describe the phenomenon ofmarketing. Four public libraries in the County of Kalmar have beenstudied in the aim to obtain information on their current marketingin the autumn of 2004, as well as their view of marketing and itssignification in connection to a vision that the Regional Library inKalmar has established. The vision is that the County of Kalmar isgoing to be the best Region of Libraries in Sweden in the year of2010. Target markets for the vision is the general public, studentsand entrepreneurs. The study has done a landing at an early stage ofthe vision, the starting point of which was in the year of 2001.

The purpose of this study is to investigate how public libraries in Norrbotten provide multilingual media and how the commitment is legitimized. In January 2014 there was a change to the guidelines for the International Library?s service for providing multilingual media. The responsibility for the provision of this service was also changed. The result shows there has been different ways of implementing the guidelines in practice; this has led to inequalities in the local library service.We have assembled data through qualitative interviews with five different public libraries in the north of Sweden.

The purpose of this bachelor's thesis is to see how public libraries have adopted the new e-book readers and how the libraries think the e-readers will affect them in the future. There are three different theories in this study which are used to see how the e-book reader influences the libraries as an innovation and as a remediation from the paper book as well as its evolution. The authors have used four qualitative interviews where they have tried to find the most relevant librarians for the purpose. It was found that all the libraries in the study think that they need to learn about the e-reader and its functions to be able to understand users? needs, but they havenÂŽt agreed if they should have the e-reader as a library loan.

Our thesis is an analysis of four librarians view on LGBTQ and which implications these views have on the practical work with LGBTQ issues in the public library. The three ideal types we can identify are the excluding, the including, and the normcritical approach. We also want to know if the four librarians? standpoints can be connected to the above mentioned ideal types. We can see that the area where the implementations of the three ideal types are most visible is the way LGBTQ material is displayed in the library space.

SammandragDen hÀr uppsatsen bygger pÄ en enkÀtundersökning och intervjuer för att försöka ta reda pÄ vad elever har för mÄl nÀr de genomför uppgifter i skolan. För vems skull genomför de uppgifter, för sin egen eller för att behaga lÀraren? Det jag kom fram till Àr att det varierar vÀldigt mycket. MÄnga elever jagar betyg och dÄ framför allt för sin egen skull, medan andra jobbar enligt parollen minsta möjliga jobb för att behaga lÀraren och eventuellt fÄ ett godkÀnt betyg med minimal arbetsinsats. VÀldigt mÄnga elever har ocksÄ ganska smÄ förvÀntningar inför en uppgift i skolan.
