The digital map product kNN-Sweden contains nationwide data of the country?s forest land. The estimated forest variables are mean age, mean tree height, volume per tree species and total volume. Today Södra Skog?s assessments of timber potentials are mainly based on experience rate and subjective assumptions.

The forest in the northern part of Sweden has changed dramatically during the last centuries. The forest has gone through a large-scale transformation, from it being only used locally for domestic purposes to becoming very important raw material for Sweden in the industrial age. The strategy by foresters during the second half of the 20th century has been to create pure production forests for commercial forestry. This has mainly succeeded and we have today homogenous production forests that give a high profit to the owners. The aim of the study is to compare the state of the forest in the former state forest Hällforsmarken in the years 1925 and 2000 and to interpret the changes which has taken place.

Omorganiseringar sker ofta när organisationer stöter på motgång och därför är tvungna att göra någon form av förändring. Det saknas i dagsläget forskning hur en förändring uppfattas ur en medarbetsarutgångspunkt. Denna studie har utförts vid SCA Timber ABs fem markandsavdelningar och syftet med denna studiehar varit att ge en multidimensionell bild av en förändringsledning ur ett medarbetar- och ledningsperspektiv samt att ta reda på hur de kan kontrasteras. De teorier som har använts har verkat som en grund för, och har väglett analysen. Studien har varit av kvalitativ typ och den metod som har använts bygger på en narrativ ansats.

In Sweden, large scale planting of Lodgepole pine (Pinus contorta var. latifolia) started in the beginning of the 1970?s. At first, the aim was production of pulpwood, but later, also production of timber became considered realistic. Today, Sweden has more than 520 000 ha of Lodgepole pine.

Sweden is a country with few native tree species. According to Govt. 2007/08: 108, exotic tree species may be seen as an opportunity to increase the growth of tree volume in Sweden. Potential areas where explored In this work for cultivation with Pinus contorta var. latifolia Engelm., Larix sukaczewii Dylis, Abies lasiocarpa (Hook.) Nutt., Populus × wettsteinii Hämet-Ahti (tremula x tremuloides) and Picea mariana (Mill.) Britton et.al.

Det övergripande syftet med denna studie är att bidra till kunskap om hur dagens urbanamänniska använder sig av skogens ätliga resurser, såsom svamp och bär. Dessa resurser kallas iforskningssammanhang ofta för non-timber forest products (NTFP). Användningen av NTFP harbelysts ur ett kulturellt perspektiv och undersökts som tradition, det vill säga kunskap somtraderas mellan generationer. Fokus har legat på hur vanor förändras över tid och rum, vad debetyder för personer i gruppen och hur de vidareförmedlas. För att avgränsa studien är detgruppen Personer med polsk bakgrund boende i Stockholm (PPBS) som har undersökts.

My final essay is a design proposal for a schoolyard that pertains to the senses. The proposal consists of an illustration plan and this paper. The design proposal takes start in sense stimulation to create a varied environment. The title leads to the concept ?surprisingly predictable?.

Never before have so many moved so frequently as now. Mobility lies at the centre for the concern ofstates, business and technological development. Some even claim that we are witnessing a mobility turn inthe social sciences. However, as the capacity to move has increased so too has the control and surveillanceof mobility become more extensive. Since September 11, 2001 security has been the defining paradigm fora variety for actors.

SUMMARY Establish a pasture There is many valuable nature and culture landscapes in Sweden that has developed during a long period of time, throw natural processes or human use. Unfortunately lot of these are disappearing. My thought with this work is to explore the possibility to establish new areas with similar qualities. The motive for this is that attractive countryside biotopes are well worth to use as model to enrich the urban landscape. Another thought has concerned the people that establish, build and manage landscapes and parks. They often have varied views, both coming from a difference in background and previous experiences.

Each year, Heterobasidion spp. is a major cause of economic losses to forestry in the northernhemisphere, including Sweden. New results indicate that pre?commercial thinnings could be at riskfor Heterobasidion spp. infections.

Den hårda konkurrensen på trävarumarknaden har tillsammans med en tuff valutasituation gjort att svenska sågverk drabbats mycket hårt. SCA har tvingats stänga sina sågverk i Vilhelmina och Holmsund bland annat på grund av valutasituationen. Enligt Jonas Mårtensson (VD på SCA Timber) befinner sig svensk sågverksindustri i den värsta situationen på fyrtio år. Huvudsyftet med examensarbetet var att jämföra olika logistiklösningar för att på ett kostnadseffektivt sätt transportera frigjorda grantimmervolymer i samband med nedläggningen av Vilhelminas sågverk. Problemet löstes i tre faser: ? Kalkyler uppdaterades och skapades för de ingående kostnadsparametrar som behövdes för att räkna ut hanterings- och transportkostnad av skogsråvaran från främst Vilhelminatrakten.

Pellets produceras av sågspån som är en restprodukt från sågverk. Tillverkningen av pellets är en energiintensiv process. Mest energi används för att torka det fuktiga sågspånet från ca 50 till ca 11 % fukthalt. Torkningen är inledningsvis effektiv men vid torkning av sågspån under 20 % fukthalt minskar torkningens energieffektivitet. Efter att det torkade sågspånet malts i en kvarn konditioneras det med överhettad ånga innan det pressas till pellets.

The objective of this thesis was to develop a method for the planning of road upgrading at Holmen Skog, a Swedish forest company. A critical issue for creating such plans is to identify roads that are suitable to upgrade to a standard that can handle heavy traffic during spring thaw, since spring thaw is a bottle neck for transporting timber. The method was tested in a case study at a district. The work consisted of two parts. The first was to retrieve and prepare geographical data for the roads.
