Concept description är en data mining-uppgift som strävar efter en begriplig beskrivning av koncept och klasser, inte exakta prediceringar. Syftet med studien är att visa hur prototypbaserad klustring kan skapa förståelse för en datamängds underliggande domän, enligt concept description. Experiment har utförts med data från pokerdomänen. Datamängden samlades in från ett low-limit, shorthanded bord, hos en av de stora Internetsiterna för online pokerspel. De två experimenten utfördes med samma datamängd, men där uppsättningen attribut skiljde sig åt.

I en mjukvaruutvecklingsprocess ingår vanligtvis att ta fram modeller över den mjukvara som ska konstrueras. Detta är inte sällan ett omfattande arbete som kräver ett samarbete mellan flera personer i en gemensam modelleringsmiljö. I sådana modelleringsmiljöer används vanligtvis modelleringsverktyg som stöd i arbetet. Dessa modelleringsverktyg utgör tillsammans en verktygsmiljö. I denna studie undersöks möjligheter för företag och professionella organisationer att i sådana verktygsmiljöer använda modelleringsverktyg som baseras på öppen källkod.Tre modelleringsverktyg baserade på öppen källkod har analyserats i studien; ArgoUML, Fujaba och Umbrello UML Modeller.

Background: The devolopment in the exchange market has attract a large number of investors. The information flow is extensive and it might be hard to follow the dynamic market. Some investors therefore choose to place their capital in a stock portfolio which is manged by a professional firm with no influence from the capital owner, this management is called discretionary managing. Purpose: the purpose of the thesis is to examine the working methods and the rationality regarding the management of the discretionary portfolios. The purpose is also to try to examine whether there is a relation between the selected risk, return and fees.

Detta examensarbete har arbetats fram under våren 2008 och dess syfte har varit att se hur man kan använda tre- och fyrdimensionella dataverktyg för att få en så effektiv montering av massivträstomme som möjligt för hus typ B1a på Valö Fyr.Inför skrivandet av denna rapport gjordes en litteraturstudie om trä, massivträelement och Building Information Model (BIM). Utifrån tvådimensionella (2D) ritningar från arkitekten modellerades ett komplett tredimensionellt (3D) hus av typ B1a på Valö Fyr. Sedan från konstruktörens ritningar gjordes en 3D- modell av massivträstommen. Denna modell blev sedan grunden för den fyrdimensionella (4D) visualiseringen för montaget av stommen. I 4D är tiden den fjärde dimensionen.

This paper examines the reasons behind firms considering backsourcing. While firms experience problems with their outsourcing activities, backsourcing emerges as an alternative solution. Firms primarily take cost considerations into account when reconsidering their outsourcing practices, but this only scratches the surface. A deeper analysis is needed, since cost increases arise from issues such as quality defects and cooperation problems. Even though production costs are low, outsourcing always implies transaction costs.

To reduce emissions of carbon dioxide (CO2) Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) technologieshave been developed. Chemical Looping Combustion (CLC) is a CO2 capture technologywith the CCS framework, and at Chalmers University of Technology in Gothenburg,Sweden, a 100 kW chemical looping combustor has been built.This project aimed to investigate to what degree air can replace helium as the uidizinggas for uid dynamical studies in a CLC cold ow model of the above mentioned 100 kWfacility. Experiments were performed using air and helium separately as uidizing gas andpressure data were obtained, which formed the basis for the comparison. The project alsoaimed to investigate uid dynamics in the uidized bed and study when the risk of sluggingoccuring was greatest. The results were presented in the form of figures and tables dividedinto pressure, concentration and standard deviation of the pressure.The results obtained showed that air as uidizing gas did not create the same uid dynamicsas helium over the entire fuel reactor.

Socially Responsible Investments (SRI) and Active Ownership have become increasingly important concepts when it comes to the corporate governance of investors today. Institutional owners highlight the importance of engaging in dialogue, in their pursuit to influence the companies to become sustainable. However, stakeholders and academia are requesting more insight into the workings of these dialogues, concerning their purpose, design and function. This study attempts to increase the existing knowledge of dialogue as a tool for active engagement, used by institutional investors in Sweden. The performed study is based on interviews with five public and private Swedish institutional investors, an SRI consultant firm as well as representatives from two NGOs.

Purpose: During the last years Real Options have been established in many areas of the day-to-day business. Recent literature also tries to address Supply Chain problems with option theory, since an efficient Supply Chain increasingly gains in importance as a significant competitive advantage. This thesis tries to answer the question, if Real Options can mitigate the costs induced by the Bullwhip Effect as one of the major problems in Supply Chains. Methodology: The authors of the thesis used a deductive approach. Based on a theoretical model utilizing Real Option contracts and under the usage of a randomly created dataset the influence of the Bullwhip Effect on the company?s business and financial structure is examined and subsequently analyzed.

Denna rapport tar upp teorier och metoder kring användbarhet i skapandet av en Flash-applikation. Rapporten beskriver steg för steg i skapandeprocessen, hela vägen från att ta fram behov och användningsområde till att skapa innehållet och slutligen en utförlig redogörelse för hur applikationen sammansätts. Metoderna som använts är huvudsakligen ITK (Identity Tool Kit) och scenarier enligt Alan Cooper. Vidare har metoder för hopsättning och visualisering av applikationen använts med stöd av Nielsen och Raskins användbarhetsprinciper. Resultatet visar att för att använda ITK i syfte att kartlägga en verksamhet, kräver detta en stor förståelse och modifikation av denna.

The purpose of this bachelor's thesis is to investigate how working librariansmanage controversial media. It builds on three debates in the media about libraries and booksthat have taken place during the years of 2012 and 2013. The questiones asked were: How dolibrarians manage racist media? How do librarians manage media that instructs on how tocommit crimes? How do librarians manage sexually explicit media? And lastly, how dolibrarians manage pressure from outside of the library? The theoretical framework consists ofRobert Hauptmans division of the two kinds of ethical strands of librarianship, in this thesiscalled ?Free information? and ?Information responsibly?. The method used to collectempirical material was qualitative interviews.

The aim of this study was to develop a load prognosis model for Uppsala district heating system to be used as a tool for heat production optimization. The methodwas to build three models for the different customer types; housing, industry andoffices and then scale them for the total system using data from Uppsala districtheating system. The heat load consists of two parts, one that is temperaturedependent and one that is dependent of the social behavior of the customers. Thetemperature part was modelled with an ARX model using an outdoor temperatureprognosis as input signal. The social behavior part was modelled using the mean ofthe social behavior from some days before and additionally by distinguishing betweenweekdays and weekends.

Previous research in the field of consumer marketing has confirmed the positive effects of divergence on advertising efficiency. Despite the coherent evidence, some industries lag in the adoption of these findings, one of which is the Swedish real estate market. Divergence has not been elaborately investigated within said context and this paper addresses the need of actionable insights for housing advertising. Starting with the proven success of housing firm Fantastic Frank who work with detail photos in contrast to the common wide angle, this paper examines theoretical implications of detail photos' characteristics. Besides being divergent, detail photos are also ambiguous which renders access to effects related to visual perception.

The major aim of the thesis is to describe the networks, relations and marketing of some university libraries and their customers in the year 2000. I illustrate how these issues interact and whether they have changed due to the recent development of technology and if so, how. The thesis is based on interviews with two directors of libraries and two librarians at two different libraries. A small survey with 16 questionnaires has also been performed in order to get a more general view on librarians' opinions in these questions. The thesis mainly shows that the networks in which the respondents take part primarily exist in the library sphere and towards the universities.

Ground construction has to a large extent been dominated by traditional meth-ods during the last 50 years. Although the construction has been changed meanwhile innovations are not accepted. In collaboration with NCC Ltd Region South, I have examined a modern con-struction methodology that has been developed by NCC for future large pro-jects. The method is divided into two central phases. Phase 1 is? Single Pro-duction? which is a preliminary period for ground constructions to come.

Denna tekniska rapport avser dimensionering, modellering samt validering av en förpackning som ska transportera hästsperma genom att utnyttja lagrade energier i fasomvandlingsmaterial. Lådan har konstruerats för att klara av de termiska påfrestningar som sker under transporten. En teoretisk modell har tagits fram och en prototyp har testats i klimatkammare för ett specifikt transportscenario. Rapporten går igenom metoder som använts för att utforma lådan och teoretiska modellen jämförs sedan med laborationsresultaten för att säkerställa tillförlitligheten. Lådan är konstruerad för att kunna återanvändas och vara miljömässigt hållbar.
