The thesis aims at, from a user perspective, examining how a group of industrial researchers understand the information seeking in their every day work. A qualitative method is employed. The empirical material consists of open-ended interviews with in all ten researchers. All of them work at the Swiss-Swedish Technology Company ABB's research laboratory in Västerås. The thesis is based on the opinion that the scientific knowledge production has become commercialised and that the scientific communication is going through certain changes.

Purpose?This study has examined the information behaviour and perception of information in a group ofinformation users who have a critical approach to the media and the information supply. Some of them call themselvesor are being called conspiracy theorists. The purpose was to examine how their information behaviour is influenced by the belief that the information is biased or inaccurate and what the information behaviour looks like when the user searches for discrepancies rather than a response to a question.Method?The study is based on transcribed interviews and email responses to interview questions.

The numbers of mergers and acquisitions have increased significantly in the last period of time. Although this popularity for mergers and acquisitions, most of the mergers and acquisitions fail to create value. One explanation to this failure of value creation is, according to several studies, how companies treat integration of information systems in the pre-merger evaluation. The research within the field argues that information system integration should have a proactive role in mergers and acquisitions, meaning that information system integration should support the organizational change and normally be considered in the premerger evaluation. The aim of this thesis is to study issues that affect whether companies choose to consider information system integration proactively, when involved in mergers and acquisitions.

Syfte: Syftet är att utifrån bankernas definition av små och medelstora företag, beskriva bankernas behov av redovisningsinformation för deras kreditgivningsbeslut och utifrån denna beskrivning försöka dra slutsatsen om en anpassad redovisning är efterfrågad för SME. Metod: Uppsatsen bygger på en kvalitativ och induktiv metod. Insamling av empiri har genomförts genom fem intervjuer med bankanställda. Slutsatser: Banker anger ingen enhetlig definition av SME. Redovisningsinformation är högst relevant för kreditgivningsbeslutet, framförallt när det gäller återbetalningsförmåga, kontroll av finansiell stabilitet och en inledande bedömning av företagets finansiella motståndskraft.

Syftet är att undersöka vad Svensk Kod för Bolagsstyrning tillför den interna kontrollen (avseende finansiell rapportering) hos finansiella institutioner, för att synliggöra nyttan med Koden och därmed förstå hur pass nödvändig Koden är för finansiella institutioner. Utifrån syfte görs en kvalitativ undersökning för att få förståelse för hur Koden påverkar/påverkat företagens interna kontroll, avseende den finansiella rapporteringen. Empirin har varit utgångspunkt och teorin ett ramverk som empirin analyserats mot. Grunden för empirianalysen är att få ökad förståelse och därmed kunna göra tolkningar av det undersökta problemet. Undersökningen kan ej generaliseras, bland annat för att det är för få bolag som intervjuats och det är inte heller den kvalitativa forskningens syfte att göra generaliseringar.

Bakgrund: Antalet cancerfall ökar konstant, men tack vare förbättrade metoder för att upptäcka och behandla cancer överlever allt fler denna sjukdom. Både sjukdomen och dess behandlingar kan ge en påverkan på kroppen, men även den sexuella lusten och funktionen kan påverkas och förändras. Ett fungerande sexualliv utgör en viktig del av livskvaliteten för de flesta. Vårdpersonalen har en viktig roll i att förbereda patienten på vilka symtom de kan förvänta sig, men patienterna önskar ofta avsevärt mycket mer information än vad som ges. Syfte: Att belysa cancerpatienters behov av sexualitetsrelaterad information.

The purpose with this study is to map the research front and the research base in information science, by using the bibliometric methods bibliographic coupling and author-co citation analysis. The research questions are: 1. What is the nature of the research front in information science, regarding which areas that are being studied? 2. What is the nature of the research base in information science, regarding which authors who are most cited, and how they can be grouped? The data used in the study were gathered from articles published in the journal Journal of the American society for information science and technology, published between 2004-2006, respectively 1986-2006.

The purpose of this bachelor?s thesis is to examine video games, gamers and gaming from an information science perspective. The purpose of the study is partly to study video games as a type of information system and partly to study gamers information use, information seeking and also the experience of gaming. A selection of five games have been analysed using a topology for video game analysis created by Espen Aarseth. A quantitative investigation has also been made, in the form of a web survey distributed through four Swedish online forums, the result of which was analysed using Carol Collier Kuhlthaus model of the information seeking process.

Consumers today leave a fragment of information when they pay with their debit and credit cards. The aim of our work is to investigate ways to design a concept of a system in which digitally stored information that today is fragmented among several different holders, can be assembled into a system and made available to consumers. In our study of how a system for financial flow of information should be designed, we intend to study the present situation and the attempts made to alter it into a more informative reality. We intend to investigate the flow of information when a consumer pays by card, and the possible solutions regarding the design and transportation of digital receipts. A majority of the information of our digital consumption is today handled digitally.

This paper studies, from a client perspective, how three Swedish municipalities work with information about a voucher system in homecare. The paper is a qualitative study using structured informant interviews and analysis of documents. The interviewees are responsible of information about the voucher system in the municipalities. The studied documents describe and clarify the voucher system of the municipality. Neo-institutional organization theory is used to analyse the result.

The purpose of this paper is to investigate how a small company manages its information, primarily the organization of digital documents. The two dominating themes are classification and information politics, the former in the context of a corporate environment and the latter to help us to describe the situation at the company. The method used has involved observation of the company's current computer network structure and also interviews with six employees at different levels in various departments at the company. The result of our investigation has been the realization that, although logical structure is important when organizing documents in a digital environment, it is also necessary to have rules regarding its implementation..
