This masters thesis concerns the Public Library Service in Eastern Africa, Tanzania. Södra Thailand: Civila samhället - roten till våldet?
Using Varshney's theory about intra- and interethnic networks, this thesis examines how civil society in southern Thailand is built up.During 2004 the violence between Muslims and Buddhists rose in southern Thailand. The government tried to Fight the insurgency using violent police and military forces, resulting in hundreds of deaths and part of reason why Thailand is loosing rank in Freedom House's democracy index. Varshney means that a civil society built up on intraethnic networks works favourable to violence between different ethnic groups. Sorting out and defining what is meant by ?ethnic? and ?civil society?, this thesis shows why to look at the insurgency in southern Thailand as an ethnic conflict surviving partly because of an intraethnic civil society.
Internets effekt på skatteplanering - en fallstudie
We have seen a revolution in the area of communication on a worldwide scale. We
begin talking
about terms as globalisation, integration and deregulation of the financial
market. Companies have
been tax planning for decades, the questions is if Internet has made an
increase of companies than
uses tax planning and which roll Internet plays. It is hard to really pinpoint
all the effects of the
Internet because of the relatively new area of research. This thesis will take
various factors under
study such as globalisation, development of the offshore industry and the Fight
against harmful
taxation by the OECD and other organisations in order to describe the effects
of Internet.

Made in Taiwan: Om identitetskonstruktion i Taiwan
Taiwan's recent democratization seem to have rallied a wider support of the notion of a national identity amongst its citizens which in the year 2000 led to the election of the pro-independence party DPP and President Chen Shui-bian. Meanwhile, China insists on the "one country, two systems" formula, regarding Taiwan as merely a Chinese province, and continues to Fight any Taiwanese initiative towards sovereignty. Through a narrative perspective, this essay analyzes the self-conscious national identity-building quest embarked upon by DPP and President Chen Shui-bian. The analysis consists of three parts. Firstly, a text-analysis of President Chen Shui-bian's speeches is conducted to examine in what way he enforces and legitimizes the identity-building-process through narratives.

Barnarbete och dess arbetsrättsliga regleringar i Pakistan
Financial exploitation of children worldwide is a global problem, causing consequences for both the national economy and labor market, as well as the working child who is deprived of its rights of education and normal development. Pakistan has several national laws in order to work against and to regulate the existence of child labour. Another important mechanism to Fight the financial exploitation of the children is the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child. This Convention was ratified by Pakistan in 1990. As a result, new national laws have been admitted, already existing laws have been amended, educational projects have been established and the common knowledge on the problems regarding the subject have attracted a lot of attention.
