In Europe poplar plantations has been planted for more than one hundred years. In the first plantation was made in 1940. The interest for poplars has since then shifted over the years and has for long periods been very low but is now slowly increasing again. The main reasons why poplars are becoming more interesting are because of their great production potential. Nevertheless, the knowledge of how to mange poplars in Sweden are very low and very little research has been done concerning management of the species. The objective for this study was to; 1) investigate and document experience and results obtained in practical Swedish forestry, 2) to give a fair picture of the perceived advantages and disadvantages that the poplars has for the forestry, 3) document what the foresters that has experience and those who has no experience of poplar plantations thinks about the potential of poplars.

The purpose of this thesis is to investigate and clarify the facts surrounding one of Vattenfall's district heating plants; The "solar field" and associated rock cavern in Lyckebo, Storvreta. The plant was built in the '80s by the formerly municipal utility,Uppsalakraftvärme AB, as an experimental building. A ground water filled cavern would serve as seasonal storage of solar heat from an adjacent solar field. Since both the energy company and the facility itself has undergone major changes over the past 30 years, there was a great need to gather facts in order to provide a picture of its current condition and potential for continued use. The thesis investigates the plant's history and problems with the rock cavern losses, and how the operation developed. It also presents the calculations regarding the possibilities of again supplementing the facility with solar energy - which is not the case today - as well as the economic conditions for it. Regarding a re-launch of solar energy, primarily a concentrating solar collector has been studied, as it has the advantages of an integrated control system.

Herbicide resistance is the result of an evolutionary process where a population gradually changes from being susceptible to being resistant to an herbicide. The resistance mechanism is usually a change in the biochemistry of the weed, but in some cases changes in morphology or growth rhythm. The change is caused by random mutations. Two resistance mechanisms are found in black-grass; target site resistance and metabolic resistance.Black-grass is a tufty, winter annual grass weed, which is mainly found in milder climates. Black-grass is a big problem in Southern Europe.

The problem with a key performance indicator that is expressed as energy use in relation to a specific area is that it does not take into account the activity in the building. Even though the activity to a very high extent affects the energy use.

Fetma utgör ett folkhälsoproblem. Fokusering på vikt och olika risker med fetma är otillräckligt för att förstå hur personers hälsorelaterade livskvalitet påverkas. Studiens syfte var att beskriva självskattad hälsorelaterad livskvalitet hos personer med fetma. Kvantitativ ansats valdes och 100 personer med ett BMI mer än 30 besvarade ett självskattande instrument, SF-36. Dataanalys genomfördes med korrelations test för att få styrkan i samband mellan variabler.

Mitt examensarbete handlar om den tysta protesten mot kemikalierna som finns i våra kläder.Textilindustrin är idag en av de smutsigaste industrier och skadar både naturen och människorna somarbetar där. Genom att arbeta med naturlig färgning och lära mig mer om komposten har jag undersöktmöjligheterna att utvinna färg från något som finns mig nära. Materialet jag har färgat är mina gamlamissfärgade eller fläckiga kläder som jag sorterat ut från garderoben.Under hösten 2012 gjorde jag en Minor Field Study i Indien, där jag bland annat gick bredvid hantverkarepå organisationen Avani för att lära mig mer om färgväxter, recept och rutiner. This thesis is an addition to pictures and animation that has been developed using CATIA V5. The animation and the images are a market basis to test whether the product is of interest in the Nordic market. The thesis is structured with elements of the Fredy Olsson method. Anestesören arbetar i en miljö som är dynamisk och komplex vilket gör att det krävs att de kan utföra sekvenser av moment på automatik eftersom det oftast inte finns tid till djupare beslutsöverläggningar. Vid Huddinge Unviersitetssjukhus finns METI som är en patientsimulator. Denna simulator används idag för att öva medicine kandidater i att ge anestesi. Detta arbete undersöker om simulatorträning kan förbättra medicine kandidaters procedurella färdigheter. Undersökningen är en enkätundersökning där frågor som sökte ta reda på deltagarnas procedurella ställdes.

Denna studies syfte var att undersöka om dövas åldersförändringar i arbetsminnesbearbetning skiljer sig från hörandes. Fyra grupper deltog, döva (teckenspråkiga) och hörande (icke teckenspråkiga), indelade i grupper om yngre och äldre (> 65 år). Femtiosex personer deltog, jämnt fördelade över de fyra grupperna. Samtliga fick genomgå ett arbetsminnestest indelat i tre delar, ett spatialt, ett temporalt och ett spatialt - temporalt test. Den spatiala naturen hos teckenspråket förväntades leda till en relativt sett förstärkt funktion i detta test hos de teckenspråkiga.

This master's thesis aims to explore the field of evaluative bibliometrics. In short, this field of research uses bibliometrics - i.e. the application of mathematical and statistical methods to books and other media of communication - as a research assessment tool. In recent years, evaluative bibliometrics has been an increasingly used method in research evaluation and is today used and implemented in many countries worldwide. Today, in Sweden, we can also see that evaluative bibliometrics is highly recognised and, in some cases, used in practice.

Swedish farmers have the possibility to be subsidized by EU rural development programme for grazing animals on pastures to promote the biodiversity of flora and fauna. The environmental remedy sometimes does not allow supplementary feed and at the same time the Swedish Animal Welfare Act and the Swedish Agricultural Board?s regulations for animal welfare and protection states that animals, in this case horses, shall be fed with food of good quality and adapted for the species. The regulations also state that they should have an individual feeding regime that enables them to maintain a normal body condition. The aim with this master thesis has been to investigate if it is possible to keep Gotland ponies on extensive pastures, during late spring and summer and still maintain animal welfare. The horses were assessed every fourth week using a welfare assessment protocol developed in line with the Welfare Quality® project (submitted, Viksten et al) where physical, behavioural and resourcebased parameters were observed. Twelve one-year old stallions of the breed Gotland ponies purchased from different breeders were used in the study.

It was a field study where I had the opportunity to open my senses towards another culture and another kind of music. I found another learning tradition and decided to try to bring it with me back to Sweden, into the Swedish school system.

Många har haft sina besvär länge vilket påverkar aktivitetsutförandet och sömnen negativt. Anamnes och bedömnings-instrument ger arbetsterapeut underlag till diagnostisering och interventioner. Tidig diagnostisering och arbetsterapeutiska interventioner möjliggör för ett bättre resultat.

In the process of making carton boards into Skoghall Mill, are great quantities of water being contaminated. This water has to be treated before it is possible to release into the recipient, Kattfjorden. One of the contaminations that is important to extract from the wastewater, is organic carbon (measured as TOC-total organic carbon) because microbiological breakdown can lead to the bottom becomig free of oxygen.The wastewater treatment at Skoghall Mill is done through an external wastewater treatment that is located at the factory. The biological treatment (aerated lagoon) is a 140 000 m3 water pool with surface aerator, which is give oxygen to the water. In the lagoon live microorganisms who performs the biggest part of the TOC-reduction.One problem with the lagoon is that the treatment of TOC is considerably worse during wintertime than during summertime.
