Göta Àlvbron, övervakning med optisk fiber : Ekonomisk analys

The Göta Àlv-bridge is a welded steelbridge which is located in Gothenburg,it connects the inner city of Gothenburgwith the island Hisingen. Cracks wasdiscovered in the steel in 1999-2000which started an investigation of thebridge to clearify the condition of thebridge. The conclusion was a monitoringsystem based on laser light sent throughan optical fiber.This report describes the bridge, thedamages, the monitoring system and thetraffic on the bridge.Stefan Pup, at Vectura BorlÀnge was mysupervisor during this work. In myinvestigation the costs of themonitoring system and the costs ofclosing the bridge is compared andevaluated. The biggest investigatingpart is the costs of closing the bridge.The results of my investigations is thatclosing the Göta Àlv-bridge would cost 1107 300 SEK / day.

Today, our cows experience a harder pressure to achieve higher milk yield. To manage this challenge the animal needs first class feeding and treatment. An important aspect of the feeding is to fulfil the need from the cows of especially fiber; and fiber with a sufficient proportion of long particles. Both too much and too little fiber is bad for the wellbeing of the cow, and she might get diseases like acidosis. Many models for feed management have been developed to secure that the animal gets enough of e.g. fiber with a sufficient proportion of long particles.

This thesis has been performed at BAE Systems HĂ€gglunds, which is located in Örnsköldsvik. HĂ€gglunds has a wide background of engineering, where they have manufactured all from airplanes to lifting cranes. Currently they only produce track vehicles at HĂ€gglunds, where they manufacture the CV90 and BVS10 models. This thesis concerns the BVS10 which is an all-terrain-vehicle. The main purpose with the BVS10 is to enable transportation of material and personnel thru tough terrain.

Hemp has been used for textiles for a long time in history until it became illegal to grow in many countries in the 1930s. It is interesting from an environmental point of view because it doesn?t need any pesticides and in most locations it doesn?t need any irrigation either, compared to cotton, which normally requires big amounts of both pesticides and water for irrigation. Hemp is a bast fiber, which means that the fibers are located on the bast of the stem (on the outer layer of the stem). Therefore they cannot be spun directly, they have to be removed from the stem first.

This thesis is written on behalf of Skanska, VÀg- och AnlÀggning Stockholm MÀlardalen, vid Nya Karolinska Sjukhuset i Solna, NKS. The report has resulted in recommendations for the method of soil stabilizations of soil nailing, excavation of slope and fiber reinforced shotcrete, which is the most suitable method from a safety and a cost point at the NKS.The aim of this thesis was to investigate whether fiber reinforced shotcrete increases slope stability, with the focus being on the total stability. The main goal was to investigate which method of soil stabilization is the most suitable for the slopes that are analyzed in this report. Through studying literature, the authors have gained an understanding about the theoretical background for the given problem. Through calculations and analyses of the slopes, safety factors have been acquired.

Foderstatens fiber- och stÀrkelsehalt i svensk mjölkproduktion : en fÀltstudie

Det finns en önskan om att finna bÀttre parametrar för att kunna förutse hur fodret fungerar i kon. Svenska Foder AB redovisar dÀrför mÄtten smÀltbar fiber, ((NDF* EFD)+pektin) och fiberkvot, ((NDF* EFD)+pektin)/ stÀrkelse, i sina kraftfoder. Genom att vÀlja olika sorters kolhydrater kommer foderstaten och dÀrmed djuren att pÄverkas pÄ olika sÀtt. En stor del av kornas foderstater bestÄr av kolhydrater. Arbetet har försökt att belysa om det finns en skill-nad i produktion och hÀlsa pÄ gÄrdar dÀr man har en hög andel smÀltbar fiber i foderstaten jÀmfört med gÄrdar som har en hög andel stÀrkelse i foderstaten.

The basic ingredient of paper is the individual wood fibers. The property of the fibers depends on a variety of factors e.g., method of pulp production and processing. The final sheet quality depends in part on how the fibers interface between each other and therefore factors that affect the fiber size are of interest.The flexibility of the fibers depends in part on the pore water i.e., the fiber swelling. The sheet becomes less flexible at low water content which gives a loss in strength. Thus it becomes desirable to increase the water uptake.The experimental investigation described in this report consists of exposing the wood fibers to different ions and ionic strength and then measure the pore size by thermoporosimetry where a DSC (Differential Scanning Calorimeter) is used.

Fireball 2 : Energieffektiv fiber produktion

The development within the textile industry is always ongoing with development of new andbetter textiles, which often mean the use of non-natural materials like polyester. This doesn?t lineup with the work shared around the world against an improved environment, so the idea came touse a form of linen fibers instead of polyester as the reinforcing material together with cotton.The idea was to use flax, linen of low quality, which is seen as a waste product and garbage inthe production of high quality linen and flax seed oil. This flax of low quality needs to beseparated before it can be used in cotton spinning machines. Fireball 2 is just that, a process toseparate flax fibers through the treatment of a technique called electrohydraulic discharge.The thesis works goal is to evaluate the Fireball 2 process ability to separate flax fiber.

PIEZOELEKTRISK TRYCKSENSOR : En undersökning om textil struktur och piezoelektricitet

Arbetet syftar till att skapa en prototyp av en textil trycksensor som kan kÀnna av och skilja pÄ olika typer av belastning. En lÀmplig metod för att pÄ ett vetenskapligt sÀtt testa sagda prototyp har ocksÄ utvecklats. Prototypen har tillverkats för hand pÄ en datoriserad vÀvstol och de ingÄende materialen Àr piezoelektrisk poly(vinyldifluorid), PVDF, tvinnad tillsammans med ett konduktivt garn, ShieldexŸ, samt polyester. NÀr PVDF-fiber utsÀtts för töjning genererar de en spÀnning, vars storlek stÄr i relation till töjningen. Den vÀvda konstruktion som valdes till prototypen Àr en distansvara dÀr vÀftinlÀggen lagts in i 7 olika lager för att skapa volym.
