The purpose of this essay is to analyze the EU discourse in the Swedish media. The questions that the analysis seeks to answer are; what image of EU is portrayed in the Swedish media? To which degree does the EU discourse fulfill media?s ?news values?? And what are the potential effects of the discourse on EU?s reputation? After several demarcations, I chose 8 articles form Sweden?s four largest newspapers to base the analysis on.    The theoretical and methodical structure behind this analysis is the theories and practices of Fairclough?s critical discourse analysis. Added to the theoretical structure are also theories about reputation and theories about news values. The method used in the analysis is a modified version of Fairclough?s three-dimensional model of critical discourse analysis.

Do new, attractive neighborhoods meet the requirements of being socially sustainable? This essay is based on the potential conflicts between the pursuit of social sustainability, while the theory of the creative class influence city planning. Social sustainability is difficult to measure, but implies broadly that everyone should have equal rights and opportunities. A city or region that aims to attract a certain type of people by providing what they ask for, might pay less attention and spend less resources on the rest of the population. Socially sustainable - for whom? The new district Hyllie in southern Malmö stands in focus, and the paper seeks to identify how different operators in Malmö defines the concept of social sustainability, how it is implemented in the design of Hyllie, and if any potential conflicts may arise.Interviews with the following informants; representants from the Office for City Planning in Malmö, the nonprofit organization Sustainable Development Skåne, the Commission for a Socially Sustainable Malmö and the company Skanska Öresund have constituted the main methodology, among with reading and analyzing existing documents and policies relating to the development of Hyllie.

This essay deals with the political upheavals which occurred in Japan with the Meiji Restoration of 1868 and its impact on the Samurai Class. This transitional period in Japanese history is portrayed in the film The Last Samurai from 2003, and it's the comparison between this Hollywood production and the current research on the subject on which this essay focuses. Two key figures who are portrayed in the film are Nathan Algren (Tom Cruise), an American soldier from the Indian Wars of the 1860/70s who travels to Japan to quell the Samurai rebellion but ends up in captivity; only to learn their codex of honor and way of life and eventually become a Samurai himself. The other character calls himself Katsumoto (Ken Watanabe) and becomes the representative of the Samurai's struggle for their existence. Their friendship and cultural exchanges will remain a cornerstone throughout the film.

Comprehensive Approach ses av många som ett koncept med målsättningen att skapa en integrerad civil-militär ansats för konfliktlösning. Konceptets innebörd är emellertid oklar. Dessutom är det problematiskt att empiriskt belägga att användandet av konceptet leder till framgång, vilket medför svårigheter att granska dess värde.Uppsatsen utnyttjar Michael Howards teori om strategins dimensioner för att analysera Storbritanniens syn på Comprehensive Approach som strategiskt koncept. Som metod används en kvalitativ textanalys av systematiserande typ.

This thesis tackles the subject concerning arguments as a conceptual basis forunderstanding the general strategy of the European Union Commission on issuesconcerning EU-harmonized environmental taxes, politically delicate and intergovernmentaldependent. The Commission's official proposals, communications and other relevant documents are subject to inquiry, where the theoretical bases are that harmonized environmental taxes in the EU is an issue conceived as supported by academic debate, and where the institutional arrangement in relation to an European-national dimension alongside the discursive context, allows meaningfulspace for arguments. The study makes a distinction between substantial (environmental cancerns in itself) and instrumental (other benefits, mostly economic ones) rationality as a foundation in various types of arguments.The study's main findings are that the Commission's official documents over the past 20 years, have been trying to keep a strong image of reason and knowledge based arguments for an EU-wide environmental tax reform. In particular, the types of arguments tend to appeal to the Member States by stressing the instrumental rationality in a European environmental tax reform, indicating the value of good arguments as a part of the Commission's main strategies. In sum, this may have further theoretical suggestions concerning questions of environmental and elimate change policies in a European context or other more general studies relying on theoretical assumptions of logics of argument, legitimacy or studies of motives behind action strategies in politically sensitive issues such as taxation at supranationallevel..

Sammanfattning Det befintliga va-nätet växer hela tiden och blir större och större. Ledningarna i nätet har en viss antagen livslängd som talar om ungefär hur länge de antas hålla. Man antar att de äldre ledningarna löper större risk att gå sönder och att därmed behöver renoveras mer än de yngre, eftersom de når förväntad livslängd först. Innan 1980-talet renoverade man inte va-ledningar, istället grävde man upp de gamla ledningarna och anlade nya. I och med att nätet är så stort idag är det inte ekonomiskt hållbart att lägga om gamla ledningar hela tiden. Därför började man i början av 1980-talet prova olika renoveringsmetoder.

Idag leds företag av tre hörnstenar: kommunikation, informations- och dokumenthantering. Dessa begrepp hör ihop och förutspår framtiden för företaget. Detta är även ämnet som denna rapport berör. Rapporten beskriver 10 poängs examensarbete, som utförts som en del i vår utbildning.Kommunikation är alltså en mänsklig handling, något som vi gör och information är det vi utbyter genom att kommunicera med varandra. Information är något som finns överallt idag och berör oss alla på olika sätt och vis.

Background:It is always fascinating to observe the events that affect the stock market, especially as the numbers of influencing factors are so many and various. Political elections are important events in society and affect the corporate environment in different ways depending on which political party that is in power. This brings up the question of whether political elections are important enough to affect the stock market; and it is this question we intend to analyse in this paper.Purpose:The purpose of this paper is to investigate whether political elections affect the stock market and to discuss the reasons for any possible affect that might be found.Procedure:An appropriate and thoroughly tested method to investigate if an event affects the stock market or not, is to do an event study. Subsequently we chose to do an event study on whether the Swedish general elections in 2002 and 2006 affected the Stockholm Stock Exchange. In order to give the analysis more depth we have also chosen to interview people with knowledge of the stock market.

Begravningsplatser är områden som upptar stora ytor av stadens rum men som kansägas vara något förbisedda i samhällsplaneringen. Det finns få studier, speciellt i ensvensk kontext, som har studerat begravningsplatsens rumsliga praktik. Studiensövergripande syfte har varit att undersöka begravningsplatsen roll i staden med Norrabegravningsplatsen i Solna kommun som utgångspunkt. För att göra detta på ettmeningsfullt sätt inspirerades analysen av Henri Lefebvres rumsskapande teori som serrummet som en helhet där det uppfattade, tänkta och det levda samspelar för att skapaplatsen. Teorin influerade i sin tur de använda metoderna som bestod av djupintervjueroch intervjuer med besökare, ostrukturerade och strukturerade observationer samtdokumentanalys.

Internet har förändrat sättet att kommunicera, och numera erbjuds ett vidsträckt spektrum av kommunikationsalternativ att sprida information genom. Ett av alternativen utgörs av YouTube, som också visat sig utgöra ett starkt medium för företag att nyttja i marknadsföringssyfte. Frågan är emellertid om formatet passar företag som enkom opererar på renodlade industriella marknader, så kallade B2B-företag. Avsikten med studien är att undersöka detta, och därigenom bidra till förståelsen för hur B2B-marknadsföring ser ut på Internet. Undersökningen utförs genom en kartläggning av de nordiska industriföretagens närvaro på YouTube, samt via en innehållsanalys av videokommunikationen ur ett varumärkesperspektiv.

Paragrafen innehåller en exemplifierande uppräkning av förmildrande omständigheter som, vid sidan av vad som är föreskrivet för vissa fall, ska beaktas vid straffvärdebedömningen. Den första juli 2010 genomfördes en reform av 29 kap. 1-3 §§ BrB, vars ändamål var att höja straffvärdet för vissa brott och samtidigt skapa en mer differentierad straffvärdebedömning.

In the post Cold-War era, world politics was transforming itself through its emerging complex issues such as terrorism and influential and interdependent actors such as the European Union. In this new era, the European Union was developing its Common Foreign and Security Policy pillar both to present a coherent and unified EU policy and to prove its political potent in order to become an influential actor on world politics. On the other side, security environment was also transforming its content through emerging actors and issues. As one of the most prominent actors of the world politics, the EU was influenced by the transformation of security environment, whose economic ?soft power? proved necessary but insufficient for being a global power in this emerging security environment.

The aim of this two years master thesis in Library and Information Science is to examine how librarians and library managers in the three Stockholm suburbs of Alby, Fisksätra and Rinkeby think and reason about the role of public libraries in the integration process. The aim is also to examine whether their perception differ from that of local politicians at the municipal level. The theoretical framework is Marianne Andersson and Dorte Skot-Hanses model for analysis of the local library profile, and Jose Alberto Diaz theory on the integration process. The method used is qualitative interviews. The interviews were recorded and the content was analyzed using qualitative content analysis. The results of this study show that the library services in the three suburbs, rather than being stipulated by the legal demand for special services towards immigrants, are based on the needs of the local population.

I dagens företagsvärld är användningen av kända personer i marknadsföring mycket vanlig (Erdogan 1999, s 291). Tidigare studier visar att fördelarna med att använda celebriteter i samband med marknadsförning är många (Till & Shimp 1998). Samtidigt visar andraundersökningar att var femte reklamkampanj där celebriteter nyttjas, inte lever upp till företagets förväntningar (Miciak & Shanklin 1994, s 51-52). Trots detta fortsätter företag att investera stora summor för att få sitt varumärke förknippat med celebriteter (Erdogan 1999, s 291). Vi anser därför att det är av intresse att vidare studera företeelsen med nyttjandet av celebriteter i reklamkampanjer.Syftet med denna uppsats är att öka kunskapen för hur företag och organisationer går till väga för att välja celebriteter till en reklamkampanj.
