In the era of urbanization and globalization, many small, rural and post-industrialcities struggle for growth. The competition for citizens and visitors is intense, andone commonly used strategy is to promote the city to a target audience. Placemarketing, however, is homogenized to a great extent. Marketing thus seems likea useless approach, yet almost every city does it.By using discourse analysis and institutional theory, this essay aims to explainwhy the city of Kramfors markets itself. There are several problems arising due tothe marketing of places, especially concerning the discrepancy between the city?simage and identity.

Jag vill med min uppsats undersöka bilden av kvinnan i samtida iransk konst och besvara frågor om-        vilken kvinnobild som lyfts fram-        vilket kvinnoideal-        huruvida kvinnorna i bilderna är bundna till dessa ideal eller om de är fria att bestämma själva-        om kvinnorna bryter mot sin egen kulturs ideal, och i sådant fall, fastnar de då i någon annan kulturs kvinnoideal?För att kunna besvara frågorna har jag valt ut tre samtida kvinnliga iranska konstnärer och analyserar två verk var av dem. Konstnärerna är Shadi Ghadirian, Shirin Aliabadi och Sagher Daeeri, alla tre verksamma i Iran.Jag har i mina analyser använt mig av en semiotisk analysmetod och jag har en feministisk och kulturell infallsvinkel i mitt resonemang och använder mig av feministiska konstteorier..

Följande studie är kvalitativ och hermeneutisk och syftar till att, ur ett postkolonialt perspektiv, undersöka hur kvinnor inom islam porträtteras i religionskunskapsböcker för gymnasiet. De läroböcker som utgör studiens material är alla skrivna under 2000-talet. Uppsatsens bakgrund ger en historisk överblick över mötet mellan västvärlden och islam. Begrepp som postkolonialism, orientalism och feministisk postkolonial diskurs behandlas i uppsatsens teoretiska bakgrund. Studiens resultat har visat att postkoloniala föreställningar i allra högsta grad är levande i läroböckerna muslimska kvinnoporträtt.

This paper provides a study about human trafficking with sexual motives performed in European states and the measures taken from national, international and Non-Governmental organizations with the purpose to oppose human trafficking. According to the UN human trafficking has increased and shows tendencies to continue escalating, regardless of the measures taken by various organisations. In this study, four countries with associations to human trafficking have been chosen and organisations related to these countries are studied. The purpose is to inquire into how these organisations work against human trafficking and which objectives and guidelines these organisations strive for together with their values. The aim is to find out which result the organizations efforts gets and if, according to my hypothesis, the efforts oppose themselves.

AbstractOil rich states all over the world share a common feature. They are less likely than other states, depending on other resources, to be ruled democratically. In this essay Saudi Arabia has been studied with the purpose of trying to find which mechanisms that lie behind why oil rich states do not have institutions or institutional change that promotes democracy.Saudi Arabia has the world's largest known reservoir of oil. The oil brings huge revenue each year to the Saudi Arabian government. Why have Saudi Arabia not developed democratically when their economic growth suggests that to be a natural step? Under the framework of historical institutionalism and path dependency theory, I have used process tracing trying to track the mechanisms behind Saudi Arabia's authoritarian rule down.

I detta arbete intresserar vi oss för mötet mellan unga kvinnor och talet om och från pornografin, i syfte att förstå hur detta tal upplevs av individerna. Studien bygger på utskrifter från två fokusgruppsintervjuer. Informanter var fem unga kvinnor. Diskursanalys användes som metod för bearbetningen av materialet och resultaten diskuterades utifrån för ämnet relevant litteratur, i huvudsak feministisk och psykoanalytisk sådan.Deltagarna upplevde sig som klämda mellan den pornografiska diskursen som föreskriver ett visst utseende och en viss sexrepertoar och det motstridiga talet om pornografi som betraktar den antingen som kvinnoförtryck, eller som enbart filmatiserade fantasier. En konvergenspunkt gemensam för diskursanalysens resultat och de teorier vi använt, verkar uppstå kring kontrollen av kvinnlig sexualitet..

Denna C-uppsats i Sociologi är en analys av hur det fungerar i det svenska rättsväsendet gällande kvinnor som har blivit utsatt för våldtäkt. Syftet med analysen är att försöka få fram en tydlig bild av hur de svenska lagarna tillämpas i praktiken och om de efterlevs som lagen beskriver att den ska göra. Men analysen vill också se om det finns något orsakssamband mellan ett patriarkalt samhällsmönster och om det finns något symboliskt våld i rättsliga sammanhang. De teoretiska utgångspunkterna har varit en jämförelse av Pierre Bourdieus begrepp om könshabitus, symboliskt våld i relation till den feministiska teorin om patriarkatets syn på kvinnor som blir utsatt för våldtäkt och hur de blir behandlade av det svenska rättsväsendet. The aim of this thesis is to examine how five works of fiction about anorexia and bulimia have been received in Swedish daily press reviews. The investigation is based on 60 reviews, which are analysed with a qualitative method consisting of close-reading and where a feministic perspective is used. The main question concerns how and to which extent the basis of valuation in the reviews is effected by the fact that the books describe a primary female world of experiences. The investigation shows, among other things, that many reviewers consider the books about eating disorders to be too many. They categorize the books about anorexia and bulimia as a genre of its own and place the books into the literary system principally by referring to other books about anorexia and bulimia.

The public health care sector has come under increasing pressure to cut down costs, maximize productivity and satisfy patients' needs during the 1990s and onwards. As a way of "getting more for less" quality management has been introduced. Originating in the private manufacturing industry, quality management has a strong focus on productivity and efficiency, aspects which are measured in quantitative terms. However, there are strong concerns that quality management is a means of speeding up the marketization of public health care by introducing core values much different from the ethic and medical norms that traditionally underpin health care organizations.This essay focuses on how quality management has been introduced to, and transformed by, public health care. A theoretical framework based on new institutionalism is constructed, and translation theories are used as a way of illustrating how the medical institutional environment, in fact, changes the concept of quality management.

This thesis focuses on politically active women within The Swedish Social Democratic Women?s Association, also known as S-women. By applying discourse analysis to interviews with active s-women and to meeting conversations between the association?s members, the study approaches ideas of feminism, feminist politics and political commitment. ?Solidarity? ? the central concept of the labour movement ? serves as the point of departure for a feminist discussion about class, gender, ethnicity and age/generation.

The Swedish Armed Forces have gone through a remarkable change. From beingan organisation built on the notion of countering a Soviet invasion it has evolvedto focusing on small, multilateral rapid reaction capabilities to be used within theframework of the European security and defence policy, ESDP.This thesis regards the change as a process of Europeanisation. Drawing fromsociological and historical institutionalism, it is shown that the Swedish ArmedForces in the post-cold war context was path dependent and unwilling to redefineits historical raison d?être. The origin of the ESDP Europeanised the nationaldefence policy, whereas the bureaucracy was still unwilling to translate the newstructural norms.

The purpose of this essay is to shed some light upon the children who grew up in Sweden after their parents fled the war in former Yugoslavia. Did the parents spread their own opinions about the other ethnicities which they fought against in the war to the children, even though they live in a new country? And if so, was it an act of patriotism for the country they once lived in and who was to blame for the war? Did the children who grew up in Sweden share the same attitudes as their parents? To find out about this we used interviews with four people, all with heritage from former Yugoslavia, Bosnia and Croatia. What we found out was that the thoughts from the parents partially were passed down to their children, even though the children thought that they had formed their own opinions. In this case the thoughts didn?t relate to any kind of patriotism or who to blame for the war, they rather believed that they shouldn?t blame the other ethnic groups for the war.

Detta examensarbete lyfter fram feminism i relation till socialt arbete. Mitt syfte var att se huruvida feminism är en del av den könsseparatistiska missbruksvården. Om könsseparatismen är feministisk samt om det finns en förändrigsträvan i arbetet. För att besvara mina frågeställningar har jag samlat in material samt genomfört tre temastrukturerade intervjuer. Mina informanter arbetar eller har arbetat inom den könsseparatistiska missbruksvården.

This paper studies the Swedish Alien?s Act regulations regarding individuals in need of international protection. The purpose of the essay is to examine the differences between the three grounds of protection that are found in the Swedish Alien?s Act. Central questions have been whether the origins of protection statuses granted in this act are national or international, as the UN convention relating to the status of refugees and also the progress of the European Union?s Common European Asylum System both are affecting the Swedish legislation.

AbstractDet finns ett strukturellt förtryck och ett systematiskt underordnande av kvinnor i samhället. Den svenska arbetsmarknaden är segregerad; positioner, yrken och sektorer är könsmärkta, och beroende på märkning erhåller de olika hög status. Denna märkning är föränderlig och när segregeringsmönster förändras, förändras positioners könsmärkning.Skolledaryrket har genomgått en lång och trög förändringsprocess av könsmärkning och är nu kvinnodominerat, vilket följts av diskussioner om skolledaryrkets sänkta status.Genom litteraturstudier rekonstruerar vi konstruktioner av manligt och kvinnligt och genom diskursanalys belägger vi att en feminisering av skolledaryrket ägt rum. Genom feministisk teori om genussystemet förklarar vi hur isärhållandet av könen, samt kvinnans underordning mannen, skapar en intim förbindelse mellan fenomenen statusdegradering och feminisering..
