Bakgrund: Barn som besöker sjukhus och andra vårdinrättningar förknippar ofta vistelsen med undersökningar och behandlingar. De ofta rädda för det okända och för att inte veta vad som ska hända. Det kan bero på den annorlunda miljön och på möten med nya främmande ansikten. Om dessa procedurer också är förknippade med smärta kan barnen riskera att utveckla ökad stress och rädsla inför kommande procedurer Syfte: Syftet med litteraturstudien är att belysa sjuksköterskans möjligheter att lindra rädsla och smärta hos barn i samband med smärtsamma behandlingar och procedurer inom sjukvården Metod: En litteraturstudie baserad på 24 vetenskapliga artiklar och 2 doktorsavhandlingar. Resultat: Ur analysen av datamaterialet har två huvudteman identifierats.

Syfte: Syftet med studien var att belysa strokedrabbade patienters upplevelser avätsvårigheter. Bakgrund: Varje år insjuknar ca 33 000 personer i stroke i Sverige. Omkring hälften av dessa upplever ätsvårigheter. Ätsvårigheter definieras som svårigheter som, ensamma eller tillsammans, inverkar negativt på förberedelsen och intagandet av mat och dryck. Metod: Detta är en litteraturstudie med artiklar hämtade från tre olika databaser: PsycInfo, Cinahl och Pubmed.

Wermland was affected by the Spanish flu like the Swedish national average, about a half percentage of Wermlands population would lose their lives to the flu during the autumn 1918. The flu has for many fallen into oblivion. This oblivion is so wide spread that it´s possible to talk about a "collective forgetfulness". The society have selected to remember 1918 for "when the guns went quiet on the western front" and not for the millions who died from the treacherous Spanish flu. The world had already suffered enough from the four years of war that had been fought, thus the victims of the flu would be honored but would soon fade in to oblivion.  When you investigate deeper you get the picture that the national average don´t do Wermland and its cities or rural areas any justice when a large variations seems to occur within regional areas.

Legislative framework from the EU is favourable and the Commission has set as one of it goals to promote the migration. Globalisation trends and contemporary business concepts need people who are mobile on the other hand. But migration numbers are still low within Europe. The purpose of this thesis is to find out how much the legal uncertainties, and the different culture mentality in the workplace of another country act as barriers in the minds of the people who wish to work abroad.

The aim of this thesis is to study what impact the USA Patriot act has had on American libraries. The authors intent has been to see what changes have occurred in the librarians work-routines and to study their attitudes toward the Patriot act. The authors have also intended to find out what the consequences would be for the libraries. The findings are related to Swedish circumstances. The material used in this thesis consists of six interviews conducted at three libraries in the Bay Area in California.

This essay about the ?self? shows the reader the difference between describing a transcendent and immanent phenomenon and if it´s possible to become or to not become ourselves. Background: Cancer-related pain is a major problem worldwide. Studies indicate that patients do not get an adequate pain relief. This creates a large suffering and results in major problems for the patient and their families. In order to minimize this kind of suffering caregivers need to understand how cancer-related pain is experienced by these patients, what it does to them and how it impacts their daily life.  Aim: The aim of this study was to describe patients´ experience of living with cancer-related pain.

The purpose of our study was to examine 13 to 14 year olds experience of bullying from a perspective of human developmental ecological systems. The questions at issue were: How do the young people themselves define the concept of bullying? Which own experiences do the young people have of bullying? How come bullying exists according to the young people? How do the young people experience that their surroundings view bullying? What do the young people consider that you can do about bullying? We used a qualitative method to collect and handle our primary empirical data. We did individual interviews with ten young people.The results of our study shows that the majority of the persons interviewed thought people bully because they have bad home conditions and that they are unsure of them selves. Many of the young people talked about three different groups in a school class: The popular, the less popular and the nerds.

The drug treatment staff attitude towards needle exchange is what investigates in this study. The aim of this study is to see what?s affecting the standpoints in the needle exchange issue and also to investigate if the needle exchange is compatible with Swedish drug policy. The study has a qualitative approach and it?s based on eight semi-structured interviews with drug treatment staff.

Placed on a ventilator, the patient is exposed to multiple invasive procedures. The aim was to describe critical care patients' experience of being intubated or tracheostomated. Method: Literature review using conventional content analysis.

Många upplever obehag inför blodprovstagning och injektioner. I dagens modernasjukvård kräver en stor del av alla behandlingar blodprover och medicinskadministration via injektioner. Syftet med litteraturstudien var att belysa stickrädsla hosvuxna patienter. Vilka upplevelser dessa patienter har av sin stickrädsla och exemplifierahur sjuksköterskan kan förankra och tillämpa denna kunskap i praktiken. Arbetet harbaserats på vetenskapliga artiklar sökta och funna genom databaserna CINAHL,PubMed och PsykINFO.

The expectations of a successful outcome are great during childbirth. The overall objective of prenatal care and birth care is that midwives contribute in creating the most positive experience of pregnancy, child birth and infancy as possible. During the past 30 years there has been a significant increase in sectiofrequency both in Sweden and the rest of the Western world. More parents feel an overall insecurity when it comes to child labour. The purpose of this study was to describe how midwives experience the work of creating a sense of security and good nursing when meeting the expectant parents.
