To plan and build a garden in Dubai has other conditions and challenges than what you experience in Sweden. The heat, wind and lack of water makes the need for durable plants, a good design and landscaping important if you want to have the opportunity to use your garden during most of the year. The soil is poor of nutrients, alkaline and sometimes saline, witch makes supplying the soil with organic material and various fertilizers necessary if you want to be able to plant a bigger range of plant material in your garden. Another important part is to provide your garden with a good irrigation system that should be put into the ground before planting so that the plants are given a more even irrigation. It?s relatively green scenery you meet and to me it?s in a way surprising since the country with its climate is rather harsh for the purpose of supporting plant life.

BakgrundArbetet handlar om skog och mötet mellan två världar, skog och civilisation. År 2007 gick jag en mo¬torsågskurs för att kunna sköta familjens skog. Fast att såga ned träd kändes märkligt då jag fascinerades av skogen som plats. Dessu¬tom upptäckte jag att skogen var en manlig domän med manlig kultur. Under kursen återupptäckte jag skogens historier från min barndom.

Uppsatsen ?Vad finns i en bild?? utforskar frågor kring vad som krävs för att bli illustratör samt vad man kan behöva tänka på när man illustrerar någon annans text, sett ur en hobbytecknares perspektiv. Projektet har genomförts genom studier av såväl klassiska bilderböcker som tidigare publikationer på ämnet bilder för barnböcker samt genom en hel del praktiska studier och övningar. Resultatet blev en samling reflektioner omkring skillnaderna mellan att teckna utan krav jämfört med att beskriva någon annans vision, hur man kan använda bilden för att expandera textens betydelse, vad man kan göra när man kör fast, och vilka för eller nackdelar det kan finnas i att välja en tidigare illustrerad text.Illustration är ett stort ämne som är svårt att begränsa och greppa i en kandidatuppsats, icke desto mindre är detta en bra introduktion..

When the introduction starts for the child and their parents it holds many emotions. There are many emotions involved in the first meeting between preschool and home for both the children and their parents. So my purpose with this study is to focus on two introduction models educators at my selected preschool works by. The purpose of my study is to focus on the two introduction models that are used by educators at my selected preschool. I ´m going to view this two models by examining how the educators prepare before the introduction starts and look at their point of view.

The aim of this thesis is to investigate how libraries market themselves in social media and why they do it. I have studied a certain public library?s process of introducing social media into its marketing mix, the preparations for this process and the effects of these marketing methods.The theoretical framework for this thesis is based on relationship marketing, a theory which focuses on relationships, networks and interaction. My main method has been semi-structured interviews with a librarian at the relevant library, with the manager of the library and with the head of the municipality?s department of communication.The results of my studies show that marketing on social media is a positive and important thing for libraries.

The aim of this thesis was twofold, on the one hand to compile a set of usability and accessibility guidelines in order to establish the characteristics of a user friendly website, and on the other to test these guidelines on eight library webcourses with user education to see how well they adhered to the guidelines. The methods used were literature survey and source studies. The guidelines found in the literature survey were divided into four different categories: document properties, structure and navigability, visual characteristics and accessibility. In order to establish the adequacy of the guidelines, I examined reference sources, mostly on the web. To a certain extent this examination has been based on HCI Human-Computer interaction theories.

The aim of this study is to review the commercial quail production for eggs and meat in the world. Another aim is to review the potential for increased production. Globally the quail production is very small, except in China where it is the second largest poultry industry. The production globally is small despite the quail's rapid growth, early sexual maturity and its high feed efficiency. The quail is also used as a laboratory animal and can be reared to be released in hunting areas.

I denna studie undersöks hur verksamma pedagoger reflekterar över sin matematikundervisning, vilka förutsättningar som finns samt hur de går tillväga för att utveckla densamma. Arbetet utgår från en inriktning sett utifrån pedagogens perspektiv. Studien har genomförts med kvalitativ forskningsmetod genom intervjuer. Intervjuerna har genomförts på verksamma pedagoger, som arbetar med elever i de tidiga skolåren, i klassrums- respektive lärarrumsmiljö. Empirin analyseras med utgångspunkt i teorierna kring deltagande målstyrning samt den reflekterande praktikern.

Studien handlar om hur vi som individer  konstruerar  och skapar ett normaliserat tillstånd kring att leva i en tvåsamhet samt om hur vi påverkas av detta. Syftet med studien är att undersöka individers motivation och värderingar kring att leva i någon typ av tvåsamhet eller valet att inte göra det, samt vilken betydelse dessa val har för individen. Studien har en samhällskritisk ansats ur ett västerländskt perspektiv och med hjälp av åtta kvalitativa intervjuer undersöks individernas värderingar och motivation kring tvåsamhet. Resultatet visar att familjebegreppet är nära sammanlänkat med tvåsamhet och relationer. Att ingå ett äktenskap eller en relation uppfattas inte som ett socialt tvång av individerna utan ses som en del av ett  självförverkligande.

Det som är vackert är även njutningsfullt. Men skönhet kan bli ett problem när det betraktas som en fast enhet och när gränsen mellan kropp och identitet suddas ut. Utseende kan både direkt och indirekt påverka en människas självbild samt hur människor bemöts. Studien syftar till att undersöka hur kvinnor förhåller sig till sitt utseende och sin person samt om det finns någon skillnad i detta beroende på individens livsstil och omgivning. Studien är avgränsad till att undersöka uppfattningen hos kvinnliga studenter vid Luleå tekniska universitet och genomfördes med hjälp av enkäter.

FlexRay is a new communication protocol which is fast, reliable and flexible and therefore can meet the increasing demands on data communication in the vehicle industry. The protocol is developed by an industrial consortium containing among  others BMW, Daimler Chrysler, Motorola and Phillips. Today (May 2009) Hägglunds is using CAN for data transmission in their systems. CAN is getting obsolete and has difficulties in coping with the increasing flow of communication. In this report FlexRay and its communication capacity is studied.

This study is a follow up of a pilot study made 2004, that evaluated feeding, exercise and weight as possible risk factors for developing any kind of diabetes in dogs. We have selected our material for a certain kind of DM that exists among Norwegian and Swedish elkhounds. These breeds are among the most common breeds affected by diabetes and this kind of DM almost exclusively affects intact bitches. We performed a case- control study where the owners were interviewed over the phone. The owners of a total of 48 case dogs and 58 control dogs were contacted. The questions for the cases focused on the time before the diagnosis and the questions for the control dogs focused on the dog´s adult life.

Den journalistiska professionen har genom historien varit ett högaktat yrke som tillknutits stort förtroende från allmänheten. Förtroendet har baserats på en exklusiv tillgång till nyhetskällor samt journalisternas vilja att leva upp till de klassiska journalistiska idealen. I dagens medieklimat har dock allmänheten större möjlighet att själva ställa krav på journalisterna, i frågor om publiceringshastighet och medieinnehåll. Detta leder också till att arbetet med källhantering förändras.Studiens teoretiska underlag är baserat på teorier kring det amerikanska medieklimatet. Teorierna slår här fast att dagens medieklimat problematiserar utövandet av korrekt källverifiering.

The aim of this study was to examine which research had been done on dietary supplements for dogs suffering from osteoarthrosis. The main questions the author wanted answers to were ?Is there evidence in the research that dietary supplements for dogs with osteoarthritis have effect in such a way that quality of life is increased in these animals??, ?are there any contraindications regarding dietary supplements?, ?who is responsible for the control of safety on dietary supplements for dogs in Sweden? and ?what kind of advice would I give to dogowners about dietary supplements?. To be able to answer these questions the author conducted a literature study of the recent research on dietary supplements for OA in dogs. The results showed that despite the lack of research in this field, some promising research has been done on multiple different supplements.

Testikelcancer är den vanligaste cancersjukdomen som drabbar unga män i åldern 15-40 år. Syftet med studien var att belysa unga mäns upplevelser av att drabbas av testikelcancer. Studien genomfördes som en litteraturstudie där 15 vetenskapliga artiklar analyserades. Att få diagnosen cancer upplevs ofta som en förlust av kontroll då de flesta män lever i tron om att inget ont skulle kunna drabba dem. Resultatet visade att de flesta männen hade en stor okunskap om sjukdomen.
