Rådgivning i AMS-besättningar : utvärdering av nyckeltal
Swedish dairy production has during the last decades undergone considerable structural rationalisation and the number of dairy herds has decreased to less than 7000. At the same time the average herd size has increased and a large proportion of those investing in new buildings today choose automatic milking (AM). During 2008 more than ten percent of the Swedish cows will be milked with AM. The development has been faster than expected and the need for consulting has increased rapidly. This study aims to evaluate whether a check list originating from the FRISKKO (?healthy cow?) programme can be a useful tool when assessing how well the herd functions in various areas.
Bäddodling av matpotatis :
This study investigated potato growing in beds as an alternative to conventional ridges. It was based on results from field trials on bed-grown potatoes carried out by Halland Rural Economy and Agricultural Society in 2007, studies of literature and interviews with Farmers with experience of bed growing of potatoes.
Due to their shallow root system, potatoes are one of the most drought-sensitive crops. Potatoes are often grown on sandy soils with poor water-holding capacity. Factors such as total yield, tuber size distribution and quality defects are negatively affected when water becomes insufficient. Wide beds have a more flat top which leads to more uniform water infiltration. Further on, beds have lower soil surface area due to its shape, and therefore, retain water more efficient.
In the field trials, which were carried out at the Stjärnarp Estate near Halmstad, potatoes were grown in beds alongside a conventional ridge-grown crop.
Introduktionen av tapeter på den svenska landsbygden 1850-1890 : en studie av attityder vid kulturspridning med utgångspunkt i Nordiska museets frågelista om tapeter
The aim of this essay is to examine how people living in the Swedish countryside looked upon changes in the interiors through modernization in 1850-90. For the first time, there was an abundance of objects available in stores in the countryside that the majority of the population had money buy. Many novelties were introduced in the interior decoration of ordinary peoples´ homes. This study focuses on the introduction and use of wallpaper and is based on a questionnaire about wallpaper sent from the Nordiska museet, National museum of Culture history in Sweden, to people all over Sweden in 1948. 148 people responded to the questions about use and attitudes toward wallpaper during the second half of the 19th century. My theoretical perspective is cultural diffusion, the spread of cultural items, more specific the diffusion of innovations from larger to smaller places, often influenced by social elites, hierarchical diffusion, and between individuals, contagious diffusion. The analytical perspective used for the analysis is based on the concepts of basic and variable modernity, initiated by the historian Sven-Eric Liedman.
Mjölkningsfrekvensens påverkan på mjölkproteinets sammansättning och kvalitet :
In modern dairy production the milking frequency is increased in some herds due to introducing of automatic milking systems or the Farmers decision to milk high producing dairy cows more than two times a day. With more frequent milkings the milk yield increases while the content of fat and protein decreases. However, how the composition of protein is influenced is not fully evaluated. The purpose of this study was therefore to see if a higher milking frequency had any impact on the milk production and especially on the protein composition.
This study was conducted as a half udder experiment.
Brucellosis in small ruminants : a seroprevalence study in peri-urban farming around the region of Dushanbe, Tajikistan
The mountainous Central Asian and former Soviet country Tajikistan is the least advantaged country economically among the former Soviet Union states. Approximately 6.5 % of the land is arable in a country where roughly 80 % of the households typically own small numbers of sheep and goats. Management practices and animal husbandry in the villages such as uncontrolled breeding, mixing of animals on pastures favor transmission of infectious diseases.
Brucellosis is a zoonotic bacterial disease caused by Brucella spp. The disease is endemic in Tajikistan. B.
Gårdsbutiken : att välja marknadsföringsstrategi
The agriculture of today is getting larger and larger and it demands more efficient machines to handle these larger units. But all Farmers don?t have the opportunities or don?t want to expand. What should they do if they want to remain on the farm? An alternative is to start a farm shop.
Limträstomme till hallbyggnader : Utformning och dimensionering av momentstyva ramhörn och 3D-modell framtagning
Industrial buildings are increasing all over Sweden. Farmers are building new modern facilities and the government chooses to build new halls to invest i youth sports. Glulam is the most common framework but there are limitations because of the transport. Therefore, there is a need to develop new solutions to increase the use of glulam. The maximum torque in the eaves was found in the frame with a roof pitch of 18 degrees and a wingspan of 25 meters. Using hand calculations according to Eurocode and comparison with the computer software StatCon, the maximum torque, shear force and utilization rate is calculated.
Kons fertilitet : kostnader och åtgärder
To get a good economy on the dairy farms the fertility control of heifers and cows is a crucial
factor. It is also important to know which key parameters that should be tracked.
In this work well established routines for heat detection have to be applied. When the dairy
Farmers use technical aid in estrus control it is important not to forget that technical aids can
not replace the human eye. Approximately 50 % of all opportunities to inseminate are missed
because clear signs of estrus have not been displayed and/or recorded.
The cattle fertility has been declining over recent years. During the same time the cow?s
proceeds have increased, consequently applying a higher pressure on the cow and the
manager.
Fertility before and after installation of Herd Navigator?
The fertility of dairy cows is of great importance in order to maintain high production. The decline in fertility of dairy cows the latest decades can have several explanations. The large emphasis on high yielding cows and the negative genetic correlation between milk production and fertility traits could be one of the main factors for impaired fertility. To find heats and inseminate the cow at the right time is crucial to receive high conception rate. Delaval has, in corporation with FOSS, developed Herd Navigator which is a management program that measure four biological parameters in the milk; progesterone, betahydroxybutyrate, lactate dehydrogenase and urea.
Metodik för bestämning av åkerdikens status : fallstudie av ett dike i Munktorps socken
Agricultural drainage ditches are links between fields, lakes and oceans, having the potential to transport e.g. sediment and nutrients. When in a good condition, drainage ditches can act as sinks for e.g. phosphorus and sediments and prevent eutrophication downstream.
The aim of this study was to determine the condition of one agricultural drainage ditch and to come up with suggestions for appropriate measures. The aim was also to determine
which of the ditch?s properties that were possible to evaluate visually, which processes they represented as well as which properties required complementary physical analysis.
This in order to contribute to the work of developing a method for determining the status/condition of agricultural drainage ditches.
Brucellosis in small ruminants : an investigation of knowledge, attitude and practices in peri-urban farming around the region of Dushanbe, Tajikistan
Landlocked Tajikistan is situated in Central Asia and is not only the smallest republic of Central Asia, but it is also one of the most mountainous with some of Central Asia?s highest peaks. Tajikistan is currently and historically the most financially disadvantaged country within Soviet Union/Russian territories.
Agriculture is the main occupation for more than half of the country?s population. Unfortunately, however, only 7% of Tajikistan is arable land and the agriculture productivity is low.
Ekonomiska konsekvenser av etanolproduktion i östra Sverige : en analys ur lantbrukarens och förädlingsföretagets perspektiv
This study analyses the economic consequences due to ethanol production in Eastern Sweden. The analyses consider the cooperative and the Farmers as one vertically integrated company. The area that found the market in this study is illustrated in figure 1.
The analyses assume that all members act jointly with the objective of maximizing joint profits at the farm level as well as at the cooperative firm. A mathematical model is created to calculate the optimal use of arable land.
Nu a?r det dags att agera! : en analys av konsumentbeteende fra?n mjo?lkupproret i Ska?ne
At the end of 2008, Arla concluded agreements with several supermarkets in southern Sweden. The agreement with the supermarkets excluded Ska?nemejerier from the stores. This meant that Ska?nemejerier lost approximately 7% of sales volume.
Potatisens specifika vikt och kokegenskaper med hänsyn till odlingsplats och sort :
The boiling properties are an important quality issue of the potato. In order to obtain adequate boiling properties the growth of the potato needs to be controlled and interrupted at the right time. However, it is difficult to determine when to stop the growth. Specific gravity can easily be measured and can sometimes be used as a tool for estimating the boiling properties.
This report discusses different aspects of the specific gravity of the potato and how it can be used as a tool to determine the appropriate time for vine killing.
