The purpose of this study was to explore preschool- and primary school teachers? perceptions of Fairytales, why they use Fairytales and what thoughts they have about the impact of Fairytales on children?s reading and writing development. We interviewed seven teachers and three preschool teachers in northern Sweden to find out how work with Fairytales is carried out in preschool and primary school. We also interviewed twelve pupils who were seven and eight years old to find out what they thought of Fairytales in primary school. The result showed that preschool- and primary school teachers had a positive attitude towards Fairytales and the opportunities provided by Fairytales.

The purpose of this study is to find out how teachers work with Fairytales in preschools raising several questions; How would the teachers describe the literary environment at the preschools? What does theory say about the literary environment? What type of Fairytales do the teachers perceive that they work with? How does theory describe these Fairytales? What is the underlying purpose for teachers working with Fairytales? What purposes are described in theory? My study is based on qualitative interviews conducted with three teachers working in preschool in a small town. The study is based on hermeneutic theory.  I have also used other theory to complete the study.         The teachers all see the possibility of using storytelling as a means to developing the children´ s vocabulary. Some of the teachers also use books and stories as a way of indirectly addressing ongoing personal problems.                                                                                                      The results of my study show that Fairytales can be a valuable tool for personal development for children. Working with Fairytales could be crucial to how children develop their curiosity and desire to learn and manage ongoing traumas in their lives.

This study examines how women are portrayed in four of Disney?s feature films, withthe focus on the presentation of relations between women. The films examined areSnow White and the Seven Dwarfs (1937), Sleeping Beauty (1959), The Little Mermaid(1989) and Frozen (2013). The aim is to analyse the development that has taken placefrom a gender perspective, from the earliest film, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs(1937), to the latest, Frozen (2013), and to reveal the significance of the femalecharacters for each other. The films? portrayal of women and female relations isdiscussed in relation to previous criticism of Disney for their stereotyped portrayal ofwomen, and through a thematic comparison with the known Fairytales on which thefilms are based.

Snow White is one of the most popular Fairytales to our time. There has been much research on the subject. `Lips red as blood- a structural analysis of Christian symbols´ in Walt Disneys and Rupert Sanders versions of Snow White` by Emma Svanström aims not to give a final answer to how Snow White should be interpreted. But rather the objective is to examine two versions in the search for any possible Christian influences and changes in such over time. The two versions are Walt Disney?s Snow white and the seven dwarfs and Rupert Sanders Snow White and the huntsman.

Language development in preschool by using fairy tales
