During the middle of the 18th century the development of Toyota Production System, TPS, started in order to streamline the processes. TPS was based on the principles of assembly line production but unlike previous performers Toyota let the manufacturing be constantly affected by demand. At the end of the 18th century TPS was described by Womack and Jones in the book "The machine that changed the world - the story of lean producion" where TPS got the name lean. The principles behind lean is to maximize customer value and eliminate waste which means making products and services more valuable to the customer. 1Lean was for a long time a philosophy and an approach limited to industries and production based companies.

Many companies are currently working to optimize and streamline their processes and production lines to achieve higher profitability. In increasingly competitive markets, companies are working to find solutions to increase the value of their production with such a small use of resources as possible. A tool used to accomplish this is the Lean management system. Lean comes from the production system that Toyota has been developing since the early 1900's, The Toyota Production System (TPS). The Lean philosophy helps companies, by working towards continuous improvement in its operations, to achieve higher customer satisfaction, more efficient production and ultimately higher profitability. Many companies are working to implement Lean in their organization. But there are many who fail to implement a complete change towards Lean.

Denna uppsats handlar om lean. Närmare bestämt om lean i de sex halländska kommunerna: Falkenberg, Halmstad, Hylte, Laholm, Kungsbacka och Varberg. Syftet med denna uppsats är först och främst att ägna sig åt innebörden av lean för att därefter genomföra en kvalitativ undersökning där intresset är att undersöka vilka kommuner i Hallands län som arbetar med lean samt på vilket sätt kommunerna arbetar med lean. Syftet med denna uppsats är huvudsakligen att ta reda på hur det kommer sig att Lean har implementerats på Karolinska Universitetssjukhuset i Solna med stor framgång, medan det inte fått samma genombrott på Akademiska Sjukhuset i Uppsala. Empirin är baserad på  semistrukturerade intervjuer som genomförts med tre intervjupersoner från respektive sjukhus för att få både ledningens och medarbetarnas uppfattning. Empirin har sedan analyserats utifrån våran teoretiska referensram som omfattar New Public Management, Service Management Theory, Värdestjärnan, Lean, Lean Healthcare samt Värdebaserad Vård.Vi har kunnat urskilja skillnader mellan sjukhusens sätt att förbereda och implementera Lean samt effekterna av arbetet. Bland annat visar resultatet att Karolinska Universitetssjukhuset varit bättre på att utbilda och informera sina arbetare och därmed motivera och engagera dem, samt varit bättre på att mäta och därmed har konkreta resultat att visa på..

This qualitative study involves the implementation of Lean and Kaizen methods in a Swedish service industry. Lean philosophy is based on a method to achieve more with less. In practical terms this means that the use of an organization's resources is improved. The origin of Lean is the Toyota Production System. Now, Kaizen methods give managers and employees a better more efficient system to reach their goals within the organization or company.

Detta är en magisteruppsats i arbetsvetenskap utförd under vårterminen 2014. Studiens syfte har varit att undersöka arbetsmotivationen bland anställda i en tillverkningsfabrik som implementerat principer och verktyg från lean production. Utgångspunkten har varit att undersöka om element i lean production, så som teamorganisering och delaktighet, har en positiv inverkan på inre motivation. I studien operationaliserades inre motivation som arbetstillfredsställelse och engagemang.     Studien utgår från en kvalitativ ansats med ett hermeneutiskt perspektiv. Datamaterialet har insamlats från sammanlagt 12 respondenter, samtliga från samma fabrik i Svealand.

AbstractLean production has become one common concept within industries to make the work more effective and to meet today?s hard competition. A challenge for Chinese production is the threat from new low cost countries. It will become very difficult to succeed to produce to a lower cost than these countries; this led to that Chinese companies must develop new strategies, according to Lee and Zhou (2000). This will put China in front of new challenges and new strategies can be needed to retain their strong competitive advantages.

The emergency medical care in Sweden has been under persistent debate, due to factors such as long waiting hours, inefficient patient flow, and understaffed departments. In an effort to meet the critique and with a willingness to improve the problems, an increasing amount of emergency clinics are adopting theories and models within Lean. Positive outcomes are evident, there has been some criticism directed towards Lean. Among these is the argument that in order for Lean to be successful it needs to be used within standardized and foreseeable processes, and that it therefore only is applicable to those kind of processes found within industrial production. This prompted the question of whether Lean was a suitable strategy within emergency medical care, considering the large variation of patients and non-foreseeable processes that in fact share little resemblance to that of industrial production.

Swedish agricultural businesses are facing challenges in order to achieve long-term profitability. The opportunity to improve profitability and efficiency on farm level may be enhanced by management. One way to work with leadership is to use Lean. It is a management system that aims to improve competitiveness. Currently, there is a project where Lean is implemented into 100 agricultural firms.

Lean har ökat i populäritet inom den offentliga sektorn men den forskning som finns om lean i detta sammanhang är fortfarande begränsad. Syftet med uppsatsen är att analysera hur lean tillämpas i svensk offentlig sektor och om lean är en meningsfull satsning försvenska kommuner. Detta görs genom en kvalitativ fallstudie där vi intervjuar medarbetare på två kommunala förvaltningar i Växjö kommun. Syftet med examensarbetet var att klargöra vad visuell metodik kan tillföra byggbranschen och hur det upplevs av personer som utför byggprojektArbetet innefattar en kvalitativ och en litteraturstudie. Den kvalitativa studien genomfördes med hjälp av sju intervjuer inom Region Syd med personer som arbetat med den visuella metoden NCC Projektplanering. Intervjuerna har ägt rum för att ta reda på hur den visuella metodiken fungerar i praktiken.Litteraturstudien innefattar en utredning av begreppen Lean, Lean Production, Lean Construction, Last Planner och NCC Projektplanering. Den röda tråden från Lean till NCC Projektplanering är att genom ständigt förbättringsarbete skapa engagemang och ökad delaktighet.Den generella uppfattningen av NCC Projektplanering är positiv, dock varierar uppfattningen av metoden efter aktörernas inställning.
