The aim of this master´s thesis is to examine how librarian´s views of the users can vary for different types of materials in public libraries. We have seen that literature and reading are the central parts of the libraries in Sweden. All other types of media are traditionally seen as complements and in focus for the study is feature film as an example of these other medias. We examine policy documents to see the official view of the general target group of the libraries and compare it to the view of the users of feature films as expressed by the librarians. The study includes several different types of empirical materials such as interviews, observations and documents and the method used is case studies.

Drawing from the theoretical foundations of the ?critical theory? of the Frankfurt School and the media ethnographic ?cultural studies? approach of the british Birmingham School, this study attempts to sketch out a media theoretical overview of the contemporary state of media culture. Using the term convergence culture as the foundation, this study offers a theoretical background to the two contemporary streams that are the significant and distinct tendencies of convergence culture: intermedial convergence, its contemporary state and historical tendencies that can be traced back using the past media theoretical approach of the Frankfurt School, and cultural convergence, its contemporary state and historical tendencies, which lineage in a media theoretical context can be traced back to the british ethographic ?cultural studies? field. Using contemporary drama serials to identify and pinpoint these two stream, this study shows how intermedial convergence expresses itself today through media conglomeration in terms of branding, product placement and marketing as the result of the ?completed? convergence between screen culture and popular music as the current defining state of commodity culture.

This thesis explores how the Swedish magazine Morgonbris depicted women's new roles in the workforce during World War I and whether these depictions challenged or upheld contemporary gender structures. The study addresses two main questions, how Morgonbris portrayed women's new roles in the workforce and how this portrayal challenged or upheld contemporary gender structures. And also how the magazine integrated the ideal of respectability to engage and mobilize female workers, analyzed through Ronny Ambj?rnsson's descriptions of respectability ideals. Using Hirdman's gender system theory, which examines the maintenance of gender power structures through separation and hierarchy, and Ambj?rnsson's work on respectability ideals, the study employs a qualitative content analysis of articles from Morgonbris during the war years. By identifying and analyzing Expressions of class and respectability ideals, the research uncovers strategies used to engage and mobilize female workers. The results show that Morgonbris portrayed women's entry into traditionally male-dominated labor sectors as a significant shift that challenged established gender roles.

This essay contains a discoursive analysis of fifteen travel reports from five of the largest papers in Sweden. The travel reports contains recaptions from wildlife tourism experiences were the predators are the main target, or at least one of the main targets. Seven of the reports are from Sweden and eight of them from Russia, Rumania, Finland, Turkey and the United States. Predators in this essay aims to those in Sweden called ?the big five?, these are: bears, wolves, lynxes , wolverines and golden eagles.

Consumers are becoming more aware of products effects and the consequences it has on humans, our environment and the generation ahead of us. NGO:s and society request that companies take responsibility and actions toward a more sustainable business. Many investors analyze companies? sustainability regarding social and environmental issues when it comes to choosing a company to invest in.

Inom matematikämnet har e-bedömningar, aktiviteter där digitala tekniker används för att bedöma studenters kunskaper, inte utvecklats i samma takt som e-bedömningar inom andra områden. Detta beror sannolikt på det stora inslag av symboler och icke-standardiserade tecken som karakteriserar matematiskt språk och särskiljer det från traditionellt skriftspråk. Ett problem som har noterats i samband med e-bedömningar inom matematik är att inmatningen av matematiska uttryck i ett digitalt system i många fall varit långsam och svår att begripa. Den här rapporten syftar till att undersöka tre kategorier av inmatningsmetoder utifrån aspekterna snabbhet, korrekthet och upplevd lätthet för att på så sätt skapa en bild av vilken av teknikerna som lämpar sig bäst att implementera i en e-bedömningsapplikation riktat mot den svenska gymnasieskolan. För att uppnå syftet har jag granskat tre familjer av tekniker genom att låta gymnasieelever genomföra inmatningar av matematiska uttryck och analysera dessa inmatningar baserat på inmatningstid, korrekthet och upplevd lätthet.Resultaten visar på att det finns tydliga skillnader mellan de undersökta teknikerna med avseende på samtliga undersökta aspekter.

AbstractThe aim of the research presented in this thesis is to study how interactional strategies are used by children and what these strategies mean or imply in the preschool cultural context. The theoretical point of departure in the study is the socio-cultural perspective (William Corsaro, Roger Säljö, Jim Wertsch). The study is a contribution to the field of research that focuses upon contextual issues and an overall way of seeing the child. This is in opposition to the strong traditional psychological perspective in the development of the child, where a focus upon the individual dominates in special education. This ethnographic study aims to answer the following research questions; What interactional strategies are co-constructed by the children in preschool play? How do the interactional strategies influence the creation of culture in preschool play? The children, 3-5 years olds, and their play situation were in focus.

The study's aim was to increase knowledge about the resistance of the Muslim religious Expressions in the public sphere and its emergence on the basis of the case around the opposition to call for prayer. The study was conducted through the use of the qualitative research approach through interviews with informants who have a pronounced aversion regarding the existence of the public call to prayer in Sweden. The study's questions have been answered by an analysis of the empirical material by using different theoretical points that illustrate how Western standards are valued higher than the other, in the various standard systems. The view of the Muslim religious practices depicted by informants through an interpretative framework that is characterized by Islamophobic arguments that are considered to be incompatible with Western culture and the principles of the secular state striving. Such discourses can create an uneven distribution of power between Muslims and non-Muslims on the basis of the West's representations of Orientalism explained based in ethnocentric knowledge.

This project aims to explore fear of violence in public places. Fear of violence reminds us that there is a problem in our urban environment that leads to spatial consequences in using public space. Many groups in our society experience fear in their everyday life but this project has focus on women?s fear.

The role of religion, of religious individuals and organizations, is currently discussed within both a private and public sector of development. I have viewed documents from the World Bank and DFID where the religious presence is a growing fact and previous theories that religion would disappear with economic development have been abandoned. As a result DFID conducted a large study on the importance of religion for development work, RaD 2005-2011, under the directions of Professor Carole Rakodi. Rakodi (2011) concluded that religion was highly related to the success or failure of developmental projects, and to understand the values people had religion needed to be understood within its specific cultural context. She developed an analysis model to conduct this work.

A film can attract all kinds of emotions and moods of the audience through its audiovisual communications and cinematic expression, in which music plays a significant role in both understanding and interpretation of film content.It is interesting to explore the musical significance and the emotional aspect of the film out of a media and communications perspective and visual communications perspective because it?s a subject that belongs to the communications of scientific discipline as film is a media text which is working both as communicative and as audio-visual medium with its expressive aspects.The purpose of this bachelor?s paper is to increase and deepen the understanding of music's function and significant role in context with its reinforcing sense of visual expression in film. More specifically, it aims to explore the musical value of the expressive aspect of the media text in form of film musical Les Misérables (2012), which has been transmedialised from the novel of the same name, referring to the sound, music and song in relation to the film's visual expression.The research questions are at the core of the essay study: "how is music used to reinforce the cinematic visual expression?" and "how can music signify the narrative and highlight the emotional aspect of the film?" The theoretical framework is based on some of the key scholars assumptions such as Michel Chion (1994) and Claudia Gorbman (1987), who share the same theoretical views that the soundtrack seems powerful when it expresses its participation in a scene?s emotional moods as the music follows the scene?s rhythm, the image?s flow and contributes emotional and musical codes of emotions and Expressions. According to Chion sound and image interact together to tell a story where sound enrich the image with expressive and informative values.

Syfte: Syftet med den här studien är att undersöka hur reklambyråer strategiskt tänker och praktiskt användersig av syn, hörsel, lukt, smak och känsel i marknadsföring av sina kunders varumärken samt undersöka vilka möjligheter och risker som finns med sinnesmarknadsföring.Metod: Studien följer den hermeneutiska vetenskapsinriktningen och har genomförts utifrån en kvalitativmetodansats där litteraturstudier och intervjuer genomförts.Teoretisk referensram: Studien utgår bland annat ifrån boken ?Sinnesmarknadsföring? med fokus på användningav de fem mänskliga sinnena syn, hörsel, lukt, smak och känsel. Referensramen består av information, fakta och exempel kring upplevelserummet och sinnena. Därefter behandlas ämnesområdet varumärkesstrategi i kombination med sinnesmarknadsföring.Empiri: Empirin grundar sig på genomförda intervjuer med sex respondenter från fem olika reklambyråer i Norrköping och Linköping samt en intervju med Niklas Broweus, sinnesmarknadsföringsexpert, som alla bidrar med information och åsikter kring arbetet med sinnesmarknadsföring.Analys: Analysen består av svar på om och hur byråerna arbetar med sinnesmarknadsföring i sitt dagliga arbete men även vilka anledningar det finns till att de i vissa fall inte gör det. Därefter behandlas hur sinnesstrategier används i olika upplevelserum för att skapa upplevelser hos konsumenter samt hur sinnesstrategier används för att stärka ett varumärke.

The inventory is based on material gathered from Sandviken Municipality archives and from Göransson Arenas' own archives. The archives consist of such things as board meeting protocols, annual reports, bookkeeping, drawings, photographs and more. The method is based on Foucault's discourse analysis, focusing on his archaeological period.Results & conclusion: The archives show how business ideas, theories, and Expressions can be seen in the two arenas. The results show how the concepts of customer, company and association are present in the design of the two arenas in different ways.
