Syfte: Syftet med denna studie är att undersöka varför och hur svenska små och medelstora företag engagerar sig och utvecklas på den mexikanska respektive brasilianska marknaden. Dessutom ämnar studien undersöka vilka barriärer som företagen har stött på och vilka faktorer som kan underlätta företagens affärsverksamhet på de berörda marknaderna.Teori: Studiens teoretiska utgångspunkt är baserad på Uppsalamodellen, nätverksmodellen samt tidigare forskning om små och medelstora företags internationalisering.Metod: Studien bygger på ett deduktivt angreppssätt. En kvantitativ och en kvalitativ datainsamlingsmetod har använts. Bland de undersökta företagen har det empiriska materialet samlats in med hjälp av en enkätundersökning. Dessutom har tre djupintervjuer genomförts med personer som är väl insatta i området som studien behandlar.Slutsats: Resultatet har visat att de undersökta företagen antingen var reaktiva eller proaktiva när de sökte sig till den brasilianska eller mexikanska marknaden.

The pharmaceutical market in Europe is subject to the subsidiartiy principle of Art. 5 EC and heavily characterised by national regulations that lead to significant price differentials between – generally speaking – Northern and Southern Europe. This incites the activity of parallel traders in the first place, who act as arbitrageurs.
